Pretty standard.. had a 5 figure tax bill last year too. Should pay quarterly estimates but.. well.. was buying a house last year... so... yeah.... quarterly estimates this year though.
I miss the days of getting refunds (never happens as a full time freelancer).
@Matt I did. Saved a few thousand due to the house. But still 5 figures: Actually only a couple hundred less than last years. Without the house I'd have been paying a few thousand more than last year. An
my cat knew she was in trouble the other day ago when she wouldnt stop after I told her to at 3am so I picked her up and put her in the laundry room and closed the door..
I have an end table in the living room.. somehow, I have no idea how, my cat manages to crawl into the bottom draw to sleep at times. There must be enough space under it for her to wiggle her way in.
it's been rainy here lately so weather hasn't been a factor :) Gone Girl was good. Saw Hot Tube time machine 2... meh.. pretty much the same as the first.
well those are the ones I may see.. really depends upon realees as to whether or not I'll pay theater pricing. I KNOW they release bad films between Man and Septeber
Old shcool was good. But so was.. uhmm...Anchorman 1
Well i held the exams, but yes its always a bit problematic to generate 12 good questions in a nonexistent time frame. So i didnt sleep much the last 3 days
any time. I was in doubt, btw... Myself, I'd try and put the box with your name on the front just above the exact middle (with the text's baseline matching the exact middle), for the exact middle often ends up looking a bit too low
you could consider printing in PMS, that way, your white text on cyan background is always groing to be crisp. There's always going to be a possible registration issue with the grey text on the cyan bg, tho.
And like Vincent said you could still get registration issues on that grey text on teal which is why I say either needs to adjust colors for more contrast (which could still get registration) or need to print on colored paper so you can print the lighter color on top
@ZachSaucier Is it like AlphaGraphics or something? Generally you would send a PDF from InDesign though honestly for business cards PDF from Illustrator works too. If you do go with Pantone though you'll want to contact them and see first. Some of those places might not do it.
yeah Vistaprint is like Alphagraphics its just a cheap shop for doing flyers and business cards. Would work but for your design won't be very good. Just depends on how much you want to spend to get the cards consistent though
The thing to remember is Ink is a liquid and some gets absorbed by the paper, depending on how much ink (0, 0, 0, 20) for example is less ink than (0, 0, 0, 100) and the weight of the paper. Then if you have white that's not white, that's paper. So in yours its going to color all of that teal background and try to NOT COLOR the white text
Digital printing might be good enough for you though. And its dirt cheap at a place like Vistaprint so could always do a run and if you're not happy go elsewhere next time
but anyways, I've got to get going to take care of stuff now that i'm done eating. later all
what Ryan's saying, is that tiny details (like, small thin letterforms) might get distorted or partially filled due to the ink absorbing the paper. this of course depends on the detail size, the ink volume and presence of a paper coating
good.. launched a couple of sites, making some mockups and releasing the "write-up" on them. Need to make a twitter design but other than that the morning is still to be determined
so are you guys going to prepare a meta speech for the election victory? @Ryan @Vincent
trying ordering 1000 calendars to have them all cut incorrectly and an angry client because they wanted to use them instead of using the mom and pop shop you recommended. Took three iterations before they finally got it right
SVGOMG! is an Awesome Web-App for SVG Optimisation
According to the creator of the app, SVGOMG is SVGO's "Missing GUI".
Running it on the image provided brings it down to just 3.42kb, and just 1.4kb after being gzipped.
Good thanks, my nerdy tendencies are very excited by the fact that I could reduce a 110kb SVG sprite to 42kb with that app, saves soo much time on my sites load, (making it far more technically impressive overall :)
@JohnB the image is a sprite itself holding 8 icons and a logo, so that's already some of the optimisation, I didn't think I could squeeze much more out of it, so over 50% reduction is sadly exciting
can even shave 1 or 2 more kb's by running through the other web service first lol
Alright taxes are done (yep I'm just that last minute). Suitcase packed. Now all I need to do is download some music for the plane ride. Any suggestions?
@JohnB there's a few I like on there and its nice site that you can listen to everything on to see whats good. Shigeto is one of the better ones. I usually prefer stuff with some sort of lyrics which most Ghostly don't seem to have but Shigeto is still pretty good
no tablet. made due with phone last time. It just feels weird bringing a laptop, granted this is work not vacation --- but after work do I really want to sit on my laptop in a hotel room?
Well if you want you can go to Black Hammock which is just down the road from me. Its basically a sports bar but there's gators outside of it (in cages) and then they do airboat rides because they're on a lake
