Q: What does a drone do when it's out of control range

TelkittySo I bought a mini drone and received it yesterday. I tried to fly it this morning, and lost control. It flew away. I live in a suburban area with decent sized backyards, there are lawns, but there are also trees and houses, power lines and roads. Searches have been conducted in the neighbourho...

is off topic ..

Q: Will having a history of depression prevent me from flying?

TraceThe AOPA website lists four medications as acceptable treatments for depression. I was treated with one of them, but it ended up making things far worse, to the point where I had issues with suicidal ideation. I've since stopped taking it and, while I'm still somewhat depressed, no longer have th...

Q: Can we use MAYDAY or PAN PAN on ground?

eduardoguilhermeUsually we read, on reports, aircraft reporting urgency or emergency during the flight, while airborne. But, is it correct to use these "words" on ground?

also deems relevant
wtf
how drone will fly when it's out of range is not about aviation? But depress and what words to use on the ground is?
@Telkitty of course issues about getting a licence, and questions that might come up in a radiotelephony exam, are on-topic

I'm pretty sure the motor vehicles site doesn't take questions about remote-controlled cars either
there are commercially available remotely controlled cars?
^ this kind of thing

AFAIK questions about drones can be on-topic. It's only questions about toy/model aircraft that aren't.
We have a community of pilots, air traffic controllers, engineers, aerodynamics experts. I VTCed because I don't think your question is relevant to that community.
rofl
and everyone who flies must have started as an experienced pilot or have a 10 million dollar drone?
nope
I'm only a student pilot myself, studying for my PPL
that's what you were saying
drones are just drones
some are simpler some are more sophisticated
Please don't put words in my mouth.
You might as well say a rubber band plane is just the same as an airliner, just simpler.
But if someone posted "I lost my rubber band plane" I think that question would get closed too.
12:40
everyone can build a rubber band plane, but not everyone can put up a toy drone
if you can build a toy drone, you probably can build a real helicopter
it's that close so I was told
I think you were told by someone who was exaggerating to make a point.
no, it isn't
just a lot more expensive
helicopters can be just toys
you can actually build a kit helicopter
I was seriously looking into it before
only 50k
so I guess it's too cheap for this site?
You seriously don't see the difference between that and the Sky Hawkeye?
difference is the price tag, bigger motor, more metal/plastic
anything else?
IT FLIES THE SAME WAY!
By creating a difference in the air pressure
12:47
also drones are mostly toys anyways
how many are flying commercial/military drones
I don't know. I can see that 7/67 questions tagged on the site are specifically about military UAVs, and most of the others are about legal issues.

Q: Meta tags colour change

SMS von der TannI seem to notice that the tags on Meta are a different colour (darker) than before. When did that change? I actually like it because I can read the tags better.

Q: Voting to close very old questions

Jay CarrLately I've noticed several older questions (some as many as two years old) that are being flagged as off topic and are in the queue to be closed. I don't understand this? Why would we waste our time on questions that are so far off of the front page that we wouldn't even have to see them if th...
