@TomMcW I remember seeing a diagram for the Airbus stick movement, but I can't find it, and the manuals do not mentions any dead zones. The image I recall I think was for a Flight issue, I checked the ones I have but it's not there
nonetheless it's a good question regarding the dead zone, we have a couple of Airbus drivers here
as for the joystick going bonkers, they are most probably optical, not potentiometers :D
I had this MS joystick around 1999 that was optical (they stopped making those), no calibration needed whatsoever for its lifetime
sadly when Windows XP was released, it was incompatible and they did not upgrade the drivers
from a Flight issue *

1:06 AM
hey there @TomMcW

@Shalvenay Howdy
So why do I get the new top bar on meta but not on the main site?
Oh, it was a cache problem.

alright here. EAA actually wants me to join

1:24 AM
@Shalvenay You planning on building something?

@TomMcW not in particular

@Shalvenay They must need dues.

@TomMcW yeah, $40/yr or something small like that?

@Shalvenay That’s better than AOPA. Theirs is like $90 or more
I swear we’ve had a question about the zig-zag lines on the F-35 but I can’t find it.

1:46 AM
hi @Shalvenay
@TomMcW the sharp edges design?
if the spiky nozzle then here it is aviation.stackexchange.com/q/31992/14897

@ymb1 Dangit. I can’t upload pics in the chat window from my iPad. Ever since the last update it’s been driving me nuts.
These zig zag lines

2:05 AM
yeah iOS is weird, and yet marketed as intuitive, my ass. Today I had to google from Safari how to find (search) for text on a webpage lol
it's under the share-menu... no comment

@ymb1 I usually just request desktop site then hit upload. But the buttons don’t work. I’ve tried it on Firefox, Chrome and Safari

can't find it on SE, but they look like panels to me, googling that led to a speculation of RAM coating to cover the panel gaps
RAM (Radar Absorbing Material)
> Now, without giving too much away, like the F-117 and the B-2, the jet itself is constructed out of a type of RAM, and there is also a radar absorbant paint. The panel sealant streamlines the panels, and prevents the radar emissions from locking onto a gap in the panels.

@ymb1 Do you suppose the panels themselves are zig zagged on the edges?

2:22 AM
@TomMcW I'd say yes, check this high-res:
definitely zig zagged panels, the lighter color quite possibly is a special painting indeed for the gaps

F-22 has a few of them too toward the center of the fuselage. I’d post a pic, but...
F-22 has that odd blotchy looking pattern
@ymb1 It kinda looks like camo, but I doubt that’s what it is. Must be more RAM

oh btw, did you hear about the foiled attempt to bomb KAVL's terminal?

@Shalvenay No. Where’s AVL?

some right-wing nutjob tried to load up an ANFO bomb with shrapnel, stick it in a bag, and drop it in the terminal, but security was on the ball and caught the bag-drop on camera, then had a K-9 team sniff the bag and bingo.
Asheville, NC
apparently the culprit thought he was the second coming of Tim McVeigh sigh

@Shalvenay The crazies are coming out of the woodwork

2:38 AM
no kidding. problem is, folks are so preoccupied with terrorists from over there that they forget that the USA breeds terrorists aplenty

Well, I guess we’ll soon be able to find out all the F-35 info we want
@Shalvenay I actually had a co-worker today tell me that all the mass shootings were staged by the “deep government”. He was not kidding.
It was the “deep state”.

lulzwut

He watches way too much Fox News

@ymb1 Thanks for the bounty, appreciate it

Is it me, or with the new top bar the review queues have been abandoned?

@Federico Abandoned? There's a button there for them, although I don't think it's very obvious what it actually means

@Federico do you mean "abandoned" in the sense that nobody is reviewing any more?

@Pondlife yes, I mean that people here are not actively looking at them, I think there is a post in the LQ queue since yesterday
@DanHulme yep

@Federico Maybe it's not obvious enough. There's nothing in my LQ queue, FWIW :-)

3:44 PM
@Federico No, I can't. I see 5 delete votes on it already and "this item is not reviewable"
Actually, 3 recommend deletion and 2 delete

strange :/
for the "not obvious enough" I totally think that.
before we had the number popping up at 3 items in the queues
now you get a small dot at 3 items in a single queue
something that here almost never happens

Did you see the meta post on it? It looks like a lot of people have issues with the review queue, at least the icon.

@Pondlife no I missed that post, I don't go on the main meta usually
thanks

@Federico Neither do I, but I noticed it in the "featured on meta" sidebar

4:34 PM
If I recall correctly, there is an icon which is visible when there are items to review. I ignore the review queue but remember seeing the icon, thought it's now visible now.

4:46 PM
@Farhan for mods, yes, the blue number, but normal review no. currently there are 3 queues open

@Federico No, not talking about that one.
This one ^

@Farhan ah, so you mean the red dot, not the icon, the icon is always there

@Farhan @Federico since you're here, there's a post I'm not sure if it should be flagged, it keeps bumped up for attention, and OP before requested its deletion (they were on mobile and unable to figure it out), see here: aviation.stackexchange.com/revisions/32216/6#
@Koyovis thank you for the great unbiased informative answer (Y)

@ymb1 well, they edited again (revision 12) so I would say that they changed idea. Plus, it is not a bad question or unanswerable, so I'd leave it be.

5:01 PM
@ymb1 aww, so sweet

@Federico let's just upvote one of the answers :D
get it to +2 or something
@DanHulme lol, yeah well I stumble in those replies, you're welcome is too dry for the internet :P
I don't get the 787-10, same as not getting the A350
A330neo basically ruined the 350, and the 777-200ER has better range over the 787-10, so possibly the same fuel economy for the same mission plus the 777 is cheaper

I was halfway answering this and OP deleted the question.
... and the user self deleted himself.
It appears that Skynet has become self-aware ... or I need to call it a day.
