Q: What's the game in which the PCs themselves have character sheets?

Hey I Can ChanInspired by this question, I was reminded of a role-playing game solicited in a late 90s or early 00s Previews (Diamond Distribution's monthly comic book and associated merchandise--including games--catalog). The game's setting was a traditional fantasy world wherein a series of books--reskinned ...

I love that idea
@Xirema It is IMO one of their bigger mistakes. Keeping each creature to one type made the game much easier to run/understand. They tried to get cute with that and IMO made a mess. Needlessly complicated, like quite a bit of stuff in various earlier editions.

Q: Are these two potentially-overpowered (or unintended) uses of Fabricate overpowered?

User 23415Fabricate is vague about what "raw materials" are, and I've concocted multiple scenarios that seem way overpowered for a 4th-level spell. The seemingly overpowered uses are as follows: As the spell has no clause about the created object being on a strong surface, you can drop hunks of stone (or ...

Q: Why aren't the badges Precognitive and Beta retired?

User 23415The name says it all. Why are these badges (precognitive and beta) unretired when you can't get them anymore?

Q: Shouldn't the Beta badge be retired like the Analytical badge?

MoosemanOn Stack Overflow, the Analytical badge was retired when the help center rolled out. However, although the site is long out of beta, the Beta badge is still on the badges page. Shouldn't the Beta badge be retired the same way?

Q: Should the Precognitive badge be listed in the list of S[OFU] badges?

Brandon Followed the Area 51 proposal for this site before it entered the commitment phase None of these sites had Area 51 proposals.

Having in person conversations is really weird. I’ve been socializing mostly online all summer and I hung out with my friends today and we’ve all forgotten manners, how to have conversations, and proper restaurant etiquette (though chances are I’m the only one who knew that in the first place)
Anyways, people are weird, and I’m not sure why I left my little hole in the wall to talk to people off of the internet except I love my friends
How’s everyone else?
@BardicWizard This has been a Big Feel lately for me too.
Upcoming crowdfund: The Last Adventure A zine-sized ttrpg by the creators of Apocalypse World, Under Hollow Hills, & The Wizard's Grimoire.
MustangArt asked on twitter for "disabled #ttrpg folks" to "Plug your cool projects in the replies"
Icarus Games UK wrote a twitter thread providing "creator perspective on the D&D/Pathfinder discourse" and "a look behind the scenes and talk about content creation, including making money as a content creator."
@BESW we had an actual conversation about science around a week ago :P
but yeah real life conversations have definitely been at a minimum for,.. a little while
wonder why that could possibly be
XD
@trogdor for me, school ended
I guess in better news I found out two cool things today!
well I mean
for everyone there's been maybe what I would call a global sensation
for a couple years
in other words a pandemic
That too
Still, school stopped and with it the daily requirement of having social interaction with my face visible.
05:56
yeah that's fair
I think that actually like
school and work were the most face to face social interaction I have had
partly because those two things actually you know, forced me to do it
I don't know who or what I would be if it were not for internet based social interaction
In slightly less worrisome personal news, I found out today that, 1, there’s a murderbot discord where people talk about the books so I joined and now I can stop sending 2am murderbot texts to friends who don’t want to hear about it, and 2, there’s going to be a city spies book 4 sometime in February called city of the dead! I’m really excited for that
@trogdor SAME.
@BardicWizard ....Murderbot Discord?
!!!!
lol
I think I have too many discords already
not even counting the ones I'm no longer active in
06:35
although I admit that one is a tempting prospect

@BESW My new earphone's arrived today, so I've started listening to podcasts and audiobooks again...

The question is, after finishing Escaping Exodus: Murderbot or Rivers of London?
12:09
Murderbot will be faster to finish the whole series.
(And less likely to send you down rabbit holes researching British history and architecture)
Murderbot will also give you More Feels so if you're not ready for that.
12:23
@BESW I like rabbit holes and I might have a home advantage there?
@BESW I can never tell when I'll get feels from something ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'd be curious to hear how Aaronovitch's depiction of London registers with locals, for sure.
There's probably a lot of subtlety I'm missing.
@BESW hmmm good thought

@BESW I was rereading some of my favorite fanfic and noticed that a bunch of them said “inspired by the discord” like there was only one discord so I did some googling and found it. I think it’s an interesting community? I don’t really know how to evaluate it

@BardicWizard @BESW @bobble Best 'B' buds: There's a smidgen of discussion around Murderbot Diaries and Rivers of london happening in scifi chat

Q: Can the spell Spirit Shroud heal a zombie?

VrastyrCan the spell Spirit Shroud heal a zombie? The paladin in our party cast it and was upset that the DM would not let the necrotic damage each round heal our cleric's zombie.

@HotRPGQuestions this question really confused me: is it homebrew or edition confusion?
As in the GM assumes things work the same as 3.5e/earlier?
20:55
@AncientSwordRage I'm guessing edition confusion

Q: Is this homebrew "Sign Letter" spell balanced?

TurtleTailThis spell has two specific purposes, the first is to sign letters and make them secure and trustworthy (even with communication magic you still need documents) and the second is to exclude non spell casters and low level spell casters (for a ruling class that values you based on what level of sp...
