@doppelgreener Probably not what you're looking for, but:
Save Game • A World of Adventure for Fate Core by Rob Wieland. A vicious computer virus threatens to corrupt the entire internet, and the only ones standing in its way are the characters from your video games.
00:41
@AncientSwordRage do some Mario games not count as Mario games?
"Your game is in another cartridge."

01:26
this one?
(though this one's about which ones are Super Mario games in particular)
@doppelgreener ahhh ahh yes, I remember now
01:49
I'm one third of the way in and this is pretty fun
02:06
Save Game's Fate Accelerated aesthetic is pretty well-suited to somebody whose powers are as variable game to game as Mario's.
02:32
@doppelgreener I'm about there at the moment too
Although I also think the arguments to be made about which games count and which don't are a little bit ridiculous
Except maybe the one where some of the games aren't really thier own game and should just be considered bundled with thier partner games
XD
Although admittedly even that starts to get weird when you distinguish between the different ones that count in that category XD

Jan Misali's fair good with his rambly style videos

"What It Takes to Turn a Video Game Into a Tabletop One" article by Luke Winkie for Wired. How do developers take open worlds and condense them into a form that fits on your coffee table? It's not easy, but when it works, it's incredible. (more about board games than TRPGs but we're blurring the distinctions, right?)

@doppelgreener I'm about a third of the way in and think I need to assign it to my AP Stats classes as a capstone project. "Design and implement a survey to categorize games with 'mario' in the title. Now watch this video and grade yourself by comparison."
Ouch.

Q: How does the Harengon's Rabbit Hop racial trait interact with the Jump spell?

gybencskoIf my level 2 ranger casts the jump spell on our harengon monk, does his jump distance from his Rabbit hop racial ability tripled as well? Rabbit Hop. As a bonus action, you can jump a number of feet equal to five times your proficiency bonus, without provoking opportunity attacks. You can use t...

@BESW ooh, thanks! I’m a bit busy but I’ll check this out (4 more days, 5 more things to deal with, then nothing till the 4th of January except yet another toenail surgery and frantic Christmas deadline crafting. Thank wool.)
@nitsua60 I would love that class
Also there is only 12 days till Christmas and I have three pairs of fingerless gloves, 2/3 of a scarf, and an embroidery project to go. I might not make it

Q: What issue is addressed by the errata for Gathered Swarm in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything?

orderWizards has released Tasha's errata. Some of them are quite enigmatically worded, such as: Gathered Swarm (pg. 60). In the second sentence, “Until you die” has changed to “While you’re alive.” What is the distinction between "until death" and "while living", and why is it so important? Is there...

Q: Selecting Hit Die for Half Casters

linksassinI'm in the process of homebrewing an arcane half-caster for one of the players in my next campaign. One point that concerns me is whether I should give a d10 or a d8 hit dice. I want it to be comparative to existing half-caster classes and subclasses but there is a bit of a mix. My belief is that...

@BESW appreciated
@nitsua60 if you do please share!
I'm stuck trying pick spells for my warlock... I'd post it up here but our games are much more flavour focused than optimized...
@AncientSwordRage Which spells are you stuck between? And/or what flavours are you going for?
@Someone_Evil it's a GOO-warlock in @Sciborg's campaign (with @bobble and @mith) I think I narrowed it down to Misty Step, Shatter, Detect Thoughts, and Armour of Agathys... I'm just going to keep thinking it through though, but I appreciate you asking
Flavour-wise, not sure how to articulate it tbh! Just wanted to share what I was up to
Have you been able to play any games recently, @Someone_Evil?
10:00
@AncientSwordRage Hit 9th level in the game where I play an artificer recently, so I'm technically also a little stuck trying to pick spells :p
@Someone_Evil artificer is on my list of classes I want to play 😊
Any spell in particular?
I know I was looking at tiny servant because I want to give it a go, but otherwise there was a lot of looking at the 3rd level spells I now have access to
But artificers are prep casters so I'm slightly freed by the option to just change spells later
10:30
@Someone_Evil nice
@Someone_Evil that spell looks useful, but moreover I'm thinking the idea of a tiny servant is incredibly cute.
That's pretty much the line I'm on too
@AncientSwordRage Whoa, Cryostasis had a sequel?

Q: How can I make this question about class stereotypes more specific?

Joel DerfnerI drafted the following question for main: I've recently gotten back into D&D (the last time I played it was 2e) and I've been doing a lot of reading so I can be a better player. One idea I keep coming across is class stereotypes (the two I can think of at the moment are horny bards and edgelord...

@TheOracle It's a good question, but I think it just doesnt fit here.
I'm writing an answer to roughly that end
14:19
I'd offer the possibility that those stereotypes are exaggerations, and the knowledge of them makes you want to avoid them.
Or maybe it's the anecdotes about they're not fun to play alongside that do it...
I searched "horny bard" on main and it actually turned up zero results.
Winter Bash starts tomorrow.
@Someone_Evil They are also primarily easy to share concepts.

Q: What do I roll for seduction?

ShadowsongI plan to play a bard who is very seductive, somewhat of a Casanova. Do I roll persuasion, performance or some other skill check to determinate the outcome? Our game is less dungeon-delving and more social situations, so I expect this to come up often enough. Usually our group just roleplays se...

14:31
Are you seduced?
The look of love starts playing
What do you roll for seduction? The eyes of every other player at the table. -- "not again, do they have to sleep with every character we meet?" :-P — Lyndon White Jul 3 '17 at 6:25
Thats a great comment.
Trivia time: what movie is The look of love originally from?
You will have heard of the franchise
BTW: new Sage Advice yesterday, but which was not categorized into the SA series. Includes a bunch of errata apparently
Ooh, including the burnination of the alignment section of each race description
@DiceService Err, it should be a reaction both to the dice result and the subsequent question.
14:50
Im going to make Bountymas meta-official this year.
@Someone_Evil That cool?
Gonna use the tag
For a moment I trusted the highlighting, thought that was a reply, and was trying to jam fun and alignment into the same concept...
@Someone_Evil I didnt reply...why is it highlighting that message
It highlights my last message. I think it's meant as a compromise
chat highlights the last message by the pinged user if no specific message was replied to
@ACuriousMind Is this a new feature or have I just not noticed it for the last... checks calendar ... 569 days?
14:54
the latter
Going back to the actual question you had, I'm not sure what post you're planning, but isn't sufficient?
@Someone_Evil I guess I could fold it into the photo album post
Do you want to briefly bring me back up to speed on intent?
@Someone_Evil Encourage users to post bounties during winterbash, track all bounties in a leaderboard.
Ah, right. That seems fine, with or without the tag
And seperate from the photo album methinks
15:03
@Someone_Evil Everyone's new favourite line "The game has two types of attacks—weapon attacks and spell attacks"
That isn't new is it?
@Someone_Evil Not technically,
15:15
I think my favourite new errata is this "The lore in this chapter
represents the perspective of Volo and is mostly limited
to the Forgotten Realms. In the Realms and elsewhere in
the D&D multiverse, reality is more varied than the idiosyncratic views presented here. DM, use the material that
inspires you and leave the rest.” though I also enjoy a lot of the language edits.

Q: Can dominate monster and drowning be used as an insta-kill?

On the character's subsequent turn, the character jumped into th...

Q: Winter Bash Bountymas 2021

Thomas MarkovWinter Bash is upon us! This year I want to have some fun with something Doppelgreener calls Bountymas. What is Bountymas? Well, you go place bounties on questions that you think either need some more attention or have answers that you think are worthy of a bounty. Isn't that just how bounties al...

@Someone_Evil is that a live page that updates or can I permalink to it?
It's a blog post, the link shouldn't break unless they redo the categorization thing I complained about and that breaks the link
I was hoping to link to the latest changes
I can't tell if the excerpts are recent or not as there's no date
Those are the currently latest changes. If those pdf links will end up being redirected to some future documents will only be known later
19:17
Cool, I think there's a lot more changes than the excerpts based on RPGBOT's tweets. I'll wait for them to collect them into a post I guess
19:44
Looks like I need to update my Yuan-Ti answer
20:31
@doppelgreener I did not mention requesting bounties in the meta post, got any ideas about how to handle that?
20:54
@ThomasMarkov when i've advocated bountymas in years past, it's just been a low-key voluntary a practice of higher-rep users (like you and i) who no longer need more rep sharing it with users who have less who've done something we can recognise who still have privileges to unlock.
there's no "request" component of that since there's no "request" component of bounties normally
rewarding existing answers has been the primary way i've done that

I'm also ... unsure on turning this thing into a ranked tracked competitive exercise, even for fun. It's just a lil thing I invite people to do if they'd want.
It doesn't belong to me, but public observation and big numbers hasn't been the point. From each according to their capacity. The point is just recognising a few people by boosting their rep a little bit with our imaginary unicorn bucks.
If someone has only one answer they want to award a bounty to and only give out 50 rep because that's all they're comfortable sparing, that's still great because they found someone that they wanted to recognise and did so.
@doppelgreener I think Yaakov did one like that a few years back.
I used it to burn off some of my alt's rep :D
Lots of bounties would do that!
23:38
.... was that last year?
@doppelgreener or one big one
