> Time Buddies Once per session a version of you from a nearby timeline manifests until the end of the scene. It is identical to you except its highest and lowest skill ranks are swapped. It acts on your turn and shares your actions (you must choose if you or your double is taking each action), and you can use teamwork with each other without using up an action.
> If either of you dies before the end of the scene, the other fills their lowest consequence slot and continues in this timeline; otherwise one of you vanishes at the end of the scene (your choice).
...now I wanna play Jessie with this stunt.
(To make it a little more balanced I might have both share the same stress/consequence track?)

Q: What are "Dice Roll Groups" in D&D Beyond?

SnowcrashWhat are D&D Beyond's Dice Roll Groups, as referred to in this changelog post? [...] When on the ABILITIES section of the Builder, and you select the “Manual/Rolled” option for ability score selection, You will now be able to interact with the “Dice Roll Groups” collapsible UI. In Pathfinder 1e, if I summon a 20x20 foot creature in "a square," can I choose any one square of it to be there? e.g. could I either summon it with the back left foot in that square and the rest hanging out over the lava pit, or with the front right foot in that square and the rest on solid ground? This is a simple enough question that I'm sure it's been asked before now.
If it really matters, the context is https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/a/ally-across-time/

@TheDragonOfFlame Looking at the Forebearers Pact. By the way, I am no balance expert, but I have a lot of comments on theme and spelling and such. That's basically what you'll get from me.
My first note is that the plural is generally Forebears, unless this is some sort of "bearers" joke, like Swordbearers or Ringbearers.
Misty Step is already on the warlock spell list, and Pact Extended Spells just add them to the spell list, it doesn't make them always prepared.
I don't think Guardian Spirit should be poison-immune, actually. I get that it's a spirit, but it could easily be a person at t

@TheDragonOfFlame I really do see your idea with the line "The spirit acts according to its nature, but is friendly to you and obeys all of your commands that do not contrast with its ideals and beliefs." I think it's not necessary to say that, and not helpful - it enables DMs to hinder players almost as much as Wild Magic sorc. There could be a suggestion that sometimes spirits refuse in the pact description - that's enough for roleplayers to roleplay. It's the same way with familiars - technically you have complete control over them, but in practice, you can still roleplay them.

Was someone here talking about Liminal a while back? Bundle of Holding have it in a bundle.

Not recently that I know of...

Liminal RPG is an urban fantasy game about people who don't belong fully to either the human world or the supernatural one: dhampirs, werewolf-kins, half-fae and not-quite-sorcerers to name a few. It also belongs to a very British genre, in which real world locations are embellished with fantasy elements which riff on their real-world features or history to form a quaint but relatable setting.

@BESW See, there you go, it was just the other day year...
I just bought their Worldbuilder's Toolkit 8 bundle. It has the Roleplayer's Guide to Heists, which I had been thinking of getting, plus a bunch of other books, for not much more than just that one by itself.

@BESW I think that was one of the VHS lines from Shadow of the Century, if you're familiar?

Quick research question: how many of these can people find in their home without much effort: an embroidery/tapestry/large-eye needle, embroidery floss/craft cord/pearl cotton/etc, construction paper, felt, scissors?
Asking for a project.

Q: What's considered a bad ability check roll ? Is 10 a bad roll?

LeogoutDisclaimer : I am fairly new to the D&D 5e world. If you feel like I don't know what I'm talking about, you're absolutely right. That said, I've done some research before coming here to ask for help. I've been playing occasionally with different GM and often I find myself or our party in the foll...

@Glazius I'm not super familiar with SotC so I'm not sure what the "that" you're referring to is?

Having an alternate or future self show up to help.
VHS, or variable hyperdimensional simultinaeity, is how SotC accounts for... I guess you'd call it the magical realism of 80s media? Everything is completely normal and also the linebacker is a werewolf. VHS operates at varying levels of intensity depending on how much crazy stuff is being real at once.
One of the VHS sample characters is just "Time Rider", whose level 3 VHS ability is bringing in an alternate self.

9:16 AM
@BardicWizard Yes to a big-eye needle (or at least used to), not sure what the second item is but maybe, if the next is just children's colourful carton then yes, unsure but probably yes, yes.

10:01 AM
Ah, very cool.
It sounds like it has the potential to be an anti-canon conceit?

10:39 AM
> So my actual question is where can I find information on how dwarves interact with other races in general, especially those with whom there are historical grievances in the lore?
That's my edit
Thoughts?
@BardicWizard I think besides a tapestry, they're all probably in my wife's Craft Tower (of drawers)™

11:24 AM
@HotRPGQuestions @ThomasMarkov I think you answer doesn't directly address "why would you want to create a group in the first place?" Besides giving an example

11:40 AM
It's an excellent example, but doesn't touch on the general purpose of the groups

@AncientSwordRage No matter how the question's re-written, it's about a set of worldbuilding choices that reify the problem.
The needs of the asker make the question an ineffective place to insert a challenge to the unchallenged assumptions of a franchise and the genres it's uncritically drawing on.
An answer might be able to, but it'd be the frame challenge to end all frame challenges.
Or, to put it more specifically: you can't re-write the question to stop considering dwarfs as a monolithic identity without rendering the question itself nonsensical, because it's a question about a set of lore that makes racial and cultural essentialism a core assumption.

11:58 AM
@BESW I fully get that, but I'm hoping I've moved the dial even slightly away from one part of that

Then, the question I would ask (and one I don't feel up to answering at the moment, if ever, for anybody except myself) is whether that's done in a way which exposes the problem or buries it.

@BESW I'll think about that for certain
@ThomasMarkov 'I've added "and why are they useful" to the title and first sentence, to cover what seems like core the question, which is articulated in the last sentence "why would you want to create a group in the first place?"'

12:35 PM
@AncientSwordRage “to do this”
Is the answer.

@ThomasMarkov and your use case is the only use? The most convenient use?
It looks like it might replicate some macros from roll20 for instance

Q: Can an Ally Across Time's items be taken and used temporarily?

PhoenicesI have happened upon a magic that allows me to summon a copy of myself, but the duplicate can't use its items! Can my roguish friend steal the duplicate's items, then use them? @BardicWizard needle-and-thread for repairs (so no?); no; yes; small snippets, not blanket/clothing sized pieces; yes
Not sure what you're after, but the demographic you're currently polling is people who speak English at least proficiently, who are wealthy enough to own electronics, are interested in RPGs, and have the free time to talk about them with some internet strangers.

Another review queue behaving weirdly rpg.stackexchange.com/posts/193168/timeline see two events for the same reviewers rpg.stackexchange.com/review/suggested-edits/history the four edits from an hour ago.
Can someone double check whether that is weird site-rendering or one review causing double the events?

That's two different suggestions, no?

Are they?

Yup, suggested to two different answers to the same Q (thus same title). The order isn't the same, but there's no strict reason for it to be

They are, nvm I checked the same tab twice.
I'm dumb.
Thanks for double checking :)

Don't worry. That's happened to me more times than I'd like to admit

The history excluded a grace period edit (so one edit in the edit history but two events in the activity history), and then I checked the review queue saw two edits and then clicked the same tab twice - such a weird chain.

nvm it was part of Trish's citation.
Huh, I'm not on it today.

This might help with preventing confusion: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/366379/…

@bobble Yeah, I always open things in new tabs anyway (still lots of room for individual error, as demonstrated :D), though that would be a good step in the right direction.
Though it seems to be by design unfortunately.
Generally, they reduced the amount of information on display, which males everything require more concentration.

@BardicWizard in my current dorm, only the last, though at my parents' home, all but felt.

Meh, that's what happens when you try to fix something that isn't broken. The answer author used to be displayed in the old design. — 41686d6564 Jun 11 at 0:55
I'm not normally a fan of that phrase, because it runs the risk of being anti-change, but the opposite (overcorrecting) is also possible.

Q: Do undead retain any memories of when they were alive?

Allan MillsAs a follow up to this question: Could both an alive and an undead version of a creature exist? Does an undead creature retain any memories or personality of the living creature they came from? The rules indicate that most undead seem to retain whatever languages they knew in life.

6:23 PM
@Akixkisu I provided Trish the excerpts and Trish improved my input with a much needed edit.

Asked this last night but nobody was on. Does anyone know where a creature summoned in Pathfinder 1e appears? If you can choose for it to appear "in a square within range" and it's 10x10, can you summon it with any of the four corners in that square?

6:40 PM
@bobble thanks for the heads up, not sure why I got the chat notification before the one for edit or comment
I updated to status-declined because the developers don't have current plans to build this. It's on their radar though so if it's in scope to pick up in the future we'll update the status at that time. — Rosie ♦ 7 mins ago
I always forget why that's not

Well, the edit is tag-only and thus doesn't notify
are you following the Q?

yup
I follow a lot of things

So what you are actually saying is that you defer this, but then tag it as declined, @Rosie? — Luuklag 23 mins ago
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@KorvinStarmast Yup, V2 edited what I noticed, so that resolved :)

@AncientSwordRage Yeah, it never ends. Buy earplugs or noise cancelling head phones.

@BardicWizard I can get my hands on regular sewing needles and thread, a box of Random String-Adjacent Objects, very old construction paper, and scissors. Haven't had felt lying around for a couple decades.
(When I was tween-ish that whole list would've been a solid yes.)

BESW has made a change to the feeds posted into this room

Added the More Seats At The Table newsletter
Chat feed survery: do we still prefer them in the ticker, or do we want to try feeds as chat message?

11:16 PM
@BESW all in favour of ticker!

Back in the day when I was semi-regularly part of new stack chats deciding how to use feeds, the ticker was almost universally reviled.
These days I've come around to the idea of in-chat feeds for one major reason: searchability.

@BESW is search better in chat or on main?

Ticker drop-downs never get put into the searchable database at all.
So, for example, I can find BardicWizard's blogs because they're posted directly to chat, but sly flourish searches only turn up manual mentions of the blog because it's in the ticker feed.

11:40 PM
@AncientSwordRage Having a meta.SE gold badge in must feel pretty nice. (Which Adam Lear, that post's author, does.)
