Q: How did towns mundanely protect themselves against Dragons or bring them to the ground?

vicky_molokh- unsilence MonicaNot every town has a party of adventurer's ready to take on big monsters. What methods are expected to be feasible in the combination of system (as of fifth edition) and setting (northern regions of Forgotten Realms), that towns employed to protect themselves against dragons? I'm most interested ...

Should I take this answer down? I feel like it’s too big of a project for me to undertake.
the question specifies PHB only, so battlemaster is the best fighter for damage, and zealot isn't available — Farahad 1 hour ago

Q: Can a bard cast a Bard spell from a spellbook?

João DuarteIn our campaign (DnD 5e) we found a spellbook containing 3 spells that are in the Bard's spell list (compreend languages, detect magic and disguise self). If a Bard can cast any Bard spell from a scroll, would they be able to cast these spells from a spellbook? I think that, by RAW you can't but ...

Don’t you just love convincing your players, through roleplay alone, that somehow, freeing a literal demon lord from his chains, is a good idea?

Q: What are the mechanical effects of uneven ability scores in monster stat blocks?

TigersEye120Whilst homebrewing some variations of existing monsters, I noticed something unusual: Some monsters have odd (i.e. mathematically uneven) ability scores. Uneven ability scores matter for player characters because PCs level up, but monsters don't level up. Why then do they have uneven ability scor...

Q: Can I get a long rest in Leomund's Tiny Hut if I'm underwater and water breathing?

RustyTheBoyRobotI'm a druid/wizard and our party is trying to do some underwater spelunking. I cast the Water Breathing ritual, so we can all breath underwater for 24 hours. After a few hours of adventuring we've been beat up pretty badly, so I proposed that we rest in Leomund's Tiny Hut. Since it lasts for 8 ho...

Does trying to vote while in read-only mode give anybody else two notifications?

@Medix2 One of those is the error message from trying to vote, and one is the hover tooltip for a voting arrow

Ah, and on mobile, those just both display, interesting

I can make both display on my computer by first clicking on an arrow and then hovering

@KorvinStarmast rogues do not have proficiency with all martial weapons. If we include rogues and paladins as martial classes, then a cleric is a martial class, and an artificer, and now it’s basically every class. The definitions I am familiar with for martial class are ‘class with no spells’ or ‘class with all weapons proficiency’.

8:35 PM
@TheDragonOfFlame That's why we need to know what they define as a martial class.
And is that even an objective question to ask?

Q: What is the earliest my warlock can gain the nondetection spell, preferably without multiclassing?

AncientSwordRageFor mostly thematic reasons I would like to eventually get my dwarven warlock access to the spell nondetection (she's sneaky, and will hopefully get access to some sort of invisibility soon). It's preferable that she can cast the spell herself (i.e. with a spell slot), but I'm aware there might b...
