@Arkhaic I would argue, speaking as a programmer that
constantly has to correct people about the differences between C and C++, that this is not the case. Over on Stack Overflow, it's quite common for questions to get tagged with both, downvoted, and eventually their tags corrected because the person asking the question assumed, wrongly, that
c and
c++ are similar enough to justify the comparison. And like with your example, there is clear history of C++ being derived from C.
