you could use something like a checklist of necessary aspects. for appearance: hair color, skin color, clothes/equipment. for personality: a few notable personality traits/quirks, immediate goals, larger goals, a flaw or two. and also just their voice in general: deep voice? gruff? accent? quirks in how they speak?
@BESW The townsfolk are the main plot drivers... they give quests, clues, etc. the flow of the game is that the players will return to town regularly to restock, or report back.

A gran-dam can be a viable target for disease, and there are a couple of quests in that regard available.
@Ben Cain actually mentions Ogden's wife - she's called Garda. Obviously you can ignore it or not as you please. It's one if the few bits of gossip I remember, because their story is basically "bought an inn, coupla weeks later the town is overrun by demons, can't afford to leave because they spent everything they had buying the inn, real estate is NOT always a good investment"
