Morning all
I need to come up with some descriptive character profiles, and my issue is that they get smaller and more rinse/repeat
I'm not really sure what should go into them.
(These are for NPCs)

@Ben Do the NPCs really need a long description?

Ben
A paragraph or two. Physical and character descriptions

I mean, how much interaction will there be with each of the NPCs?
there are random NPC generators online that you could use

Ben
There are 6 in total, and they're the main focus of the town area.
These are the inhabitants of Tristram, so it's fairly important.

you could use something like a checklist of necessary aspects. for appearance: hair color, skin color, clothes/equipment. for personality: a few notable personality traits/quirks, immediate goals, larger goals, a flaw or two. and also just their voice in general: deep voice? gruff? accent? quirks in how they speak?

What kind of story?
Also, sometimes I find pictures to use for major NPCs, it seems to help.

Ben
Ok. I'll give that a go.

That was a lot of fun to do.

Ben
@BESW The townsfolk are the main plot drivers... they give quests, clues, etc. the flow of the game is that the players will return to town regularly to restock, or report back.

greetings. not sure if this is the place for this question: I'm try to get better at posting and answering questions. How do you make a hyperlink in the comments section. when answering a question, the editor has a link feature.

@Greg0141 Hi! The full commenting markdown documentation can be found here. For Stack links, you can just put the link into the comment and it'll format itself with the title of the question it's linking to.
For off-site links, use [text goes here](https://www.link-goes-here.com "optional mouseover text here")
Which produces: text goes here

@BESW: Awesome. Thank you. My questions and answers have looked really primitive. I need to work on it

A: Is there a style guide for posts?

SevenSidedDieWe don't have a local style guide. There are a few common practices that we inherit from a few different sources though: Because we are using HTML (which is a format designed to be both human- and machine-readable), which gives specific meanings to certain kinds of markup, we benefit from recog...

@BESW: Fantastic.

There's a question...would it be more worthwhile to make Gillian the Barmaid Ogden's wife, or bring in her "grand-dam", and potentially use her as another plot hook?
Or both...
CC @Miniman @KorvinStarmast
A gran-dam can be a viable target for disease, and there are a couple of quests in that regard available.

@Greg0141 Thank you for asking! I look forward to seeing you around.

hey there @Greg0141, welcome to the RPG.SE lair :)

@Ben Cain actually mentions Ogden's wife - she's called Garda. Obviously you can ignore it or not as you please. It's one if the few bits of gossip I remember, because their story is basically "bought an inn, coupla weeks later the town is overrun by demons, can't afford to leave because they spent everything they had buying the inn, real estate is NOT always a good investment"
Classic life advice from your buddy Cain.
