Q: Vote ordering of accepted answers has changed: Accepted below top voted

Tom RitterOn this question, sorted by votes, the accepted answer is #3 in order of votes. It appears as number 3 in the list as well. Is this new behavior intended? Did I miss something?

Yay!

that's from '09, and about a self-answer
:/
Ooh, pretty big earthquake just now.
@JAD Yup that was what I was trying to find documentation of.
That self answers are sorted by votes.
Sorry I was not at all clear when I said "I'm determined to find where this is documented though lol". Undefined pronouns :(.

Have you ever wondered why you can’t accept your own answer on Stack Overflow? If so, you’re not alone.

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words; here’s what I just did to one of my own questions:

Before:

After:

Hey, look at that, I just accepted my own answer!

Now, there are some special rules around owner-accepted answers, to prevent gaming:

Wait 48 hours. You must wait 2 days from the time you originally asked your question before you can accept your own answer. This gives other users a chance to answer the question in good faith, and earn the accepted answer. …

Oh cool I didn't know that the blog posts got oneboxed
otherwise I would have just posted that.

no problemo
@GreySage Thanks for the insight! @Rubiksmoose I was asking about closing and reposting rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/122054/… because it felt like the re-opening process was going nowhere.

@JAD implement a magic 8 ball appearance for et al
@Rubiksmoose Also, for those seeing negatively scored accepted answers moved out of top spot: you have SOUP installed, and it implemented that feature sometime in the last few hours. (cc @JAD @Yuuki @GreySage @trogdor since y'all were in that conversation)

Q: The Stack Overflow Unofficial Patch (SOUP)

Ilmari Karonen The Stack Overflow Unofficial Patch (SOUP) is a project to collect various minor client-side bug fixes, work-arounds and usability improvements for Stack Overflow and other Q&A sites on the Stack Exchange Network into a single user script. The intent of SOUP is not to make any substantial o...

Whenever you see some crazy new feature, it is usually safe to check it again with SOUP switched off first. If you forget to do that at first, definitely do it once you realise other people aren't seeing it, because it's probably that.
@doppelgreener technically I didn't see any of that stuff
The star dam is opened!
pinging you 'cause that's why other people were seeing that 8)
goodness, did we really go for half a week without stars on things? wow
how'd we manage that
21:44
very carefully I guess

woops, sorry for that one
no problem, everything is ok
i noticed it a couple of hours ago and went through the exact same "hey look at this!" "i don't see anything" "what about here?" "nope" "oh it was SOUP" cycle with some other folks
for what now?
oooh
same thing still
XD
@MikeQ Murlock Revolt, HG Wells .... ;)
@BESW UH, you OK? Did that shake knock your internet dead, or what? brow furrows in worry
21:54
@trogdor the news says says 7.1 (Richter, right?) That's a healthy shake ...
@KorvinStarmast Where?
I didn't even notice it
must have originated closer to him
Or, almost 100 km northeast and almost 100km down.
> There were no reports made to Guam E911 dispatch of damages or injuries from the earthquake (source)
The earthquake that shook Palm Desert in 1992 (7.2) was felt in San Diego CA at about 5.5, our house shook pretty significantly. Palm Desert is quite a bit more than 60 miles from where we were living. ;)
Depth looks like the difference.
@BESW I saw your post about a big shake, and then ... nothing. I was surprised that you didn't make a further comment. Good that the worry was groundless.
@GreySage Guam.
@BESW that's good. :)
@KorvinStarmast BESW's apartments are made to withstand earthquakes pretty well. has he ever described it whilst you've been around?
22:09
No, have not seen that. Building to code makes a difference. (See also what happened with Hurricane Harvey in Rockport TX).

@Shalvenay I hope so. One of the things that saves our homes on a regular basis is that instead of basements, we build on a concrete pad wider than the house. Lets it float when the soil liquifies.
@YannickMG You can never just repost a question if it got closed. You can ask a substantially different one though. If you try to post the same question again it will immediately get closed as a dupe if not deleted so I would not suggest trying that.
@doppelgreener Wow what crazy timing for that feature to be added lol.
That feeling when you have 3 minutes before work is over and you just can't get yourself to be productive
I assumed that was the case, thanks for confirming.
