@Tiggerous oh okay. gotcha

@NautArch how can they take the bonus action first?
They can certainly take offhand first (with the attack action) but not bonus action imo

@goodguy5 I think @NautArch may be writing that answer up now though.

good.
I don't want to lol
@Rubiksmoose did you see that archery + close quarters question last night in its original form?

@NautArch Do we need to undupe this?

@NautArch @KorvinStarmast Perhaps we could avoid all this confusion by stripping out the second half of this question as it's own question - which is "Can a thrown weapon benefit from the Dueling fighting style?"

3:07 PM
@goodguy5 I didn't! can you link?
@Tiggerous which is itself a dup is it not?

@Rubiksmoose Not sure, I haven't searched yet.

12
Q: Does Dueling Fighting Style apply to thrown weapons?

Dale MPHB p. 72 (and others) Dueling When you are wielding a melee weapon in one hand and no other weapons, you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls with that weapon. PHB p.147 Thrown. If a weapon has the thrown property, you can throw the weapon to make a ranged attack. If the weapon is a me...

So stripping it out is not a bad idea if it has an answer elsewhere especially.

In that case, I think this question is actually two dupes not one...
It was combining them together that made it unclear whether it was a dupe of either.

In that case, we can just have different people close it with either question and it'll link to both I think...

3:10 PM
@goodguy5 that makes me cringe
Especially the Rng abbreviation of Ranger

@DavidCoffron yea, me too

@goodguy5 Very good edit

@Rubiksmoose *blushes*

@DavidCoffron I can actually just add that question to the dupe closure if we wanted it. No voting needed.

@Rubiksmoose that's probably the best course. Both questions together definitely dupe that one

3:16 PM
I agree both need to be linked, the new question is not fully covered by either on their own.

@DavidCoffron I've done it.
Can anybody explain if I am missing something about this answer? I seems just wrong to me.
But it is so clear-cut in my mind that I feel I must be missing something. (especially with all the upvotes)

However, I've noticed that someone in the cracks between all three confusing questions, there is still a related unanswered question, which I may ask myself later.

TIL: a bard-rogue multiclass was quite popular in late Medieval France: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/François_Villon

@KorvinStarmast I think they need to change how they're asking the question first. I feel like my suggestion is fairly major and don't want to assume it's what they want.

How many hit dice would a character with one level in every class regain during a long rest?

3:21 PM
@goodguy5 you regain all hit dice on a long rest I thought

@Rubiksmoose half, round up, iirc
but like... I thought it was per class
@Rubiksmoose you may be thinking of hit points

@goodguy5 You get to recover whichever spent ones are out, your choice. So I think of it as having a pile of used dice, which may vary in shape. Half of them come back to me, and I get to pick which half.

@nitsua60 oh, really? I thought it was at a class-level, not a character level. interesting

@Rubiksmoose "At the end of a long rest, a character regains all lost hit points. The character also regains spent Hit Dice, up to a number of dice equal to half of the character's total number of them (minimum of one die)"

12
Q: Does a multiclass character get to pick which hit dice they recover after a long rest?

JWTThis question came up in our last game. In 5e, after a long rest you get to recover half your spent hit dice. My assumption would be is that if you are multiclass you get to pick the hit dice you want to recover. In theory you get to pick the hit dice you want to recover even if you are not mu...

3:25 PM
@PurpleMonkey thanks for calmly handling that comment-interaction yesterday. It looks like it might have been unpleasant, but your response(s) struck me as on-point, instructive, and patient.

@NautArch I stand corrected!

@Rubiksmoose I always forget that rule too :)

@NautArch hrm... that doesn't necessarily provide rules for multiclassing, as they're optional.

3:41 PM
@goodguy5 But it doesn't refer to level at all, just the total number of hit dice.
So it has zero direct interaction with multiclassing.

Right, that's my point. It doesn't refer to "levels" because the assumed state of the game is that "hit dice = levels"
So, if you use all of your Barbarian5/Wizard5 hit dice (5d12/5d6)
What do you get back the next long rest?

Any five out of the spent hit dice.

@goodguy5 There are no rules, so make up a new rule.

then you just always pick Xd12 and then any remainder of d6?

No reason not to, I guess.

3:44 PM
@kviiri the rules are 'you get 5', there is no rule about how to manage different Hit dice, so it's 5 and you pick.
it's just that normally the 5 you pick are all the same.

@NautArch Yep, exactly what I'm saying. Although the dice do have to be spent hit dice.

Or you can take the average and you get 5d9s

hrm... noted.
If it comes up in my game, I'm going to treat each classes' hit dice independently.
@GreySage love it (as a joke)

@kviiri oh yes. You don't generate hit dice you don't have :)

You only need to use a spellcasting focus to replace material components correct?

3:48 PM
@Rubiksmoose right

@goodguy5 What difference do you reckon it'll make?

@kviiri not alienating the low dice.
I don't want them to feel secondary

I found something I had not considered before about Instrument of the Bards (the last part of my answer). Does that make sense?

@Rubiksmoose WOW.
I never thought about that.

@goodguy5 I don't think either the usual hit die system or your alteration really makes them secondary

3:51 PM
@NautArch right?!

apart from the fact that they're strictly speaking worth less

I need to check my spell list.

Okay well, I guess I understand what you mean

@kviiri woah, you can't just say that. Who are you to determine the "worth" of dice?!
they don't go around saying how much you're worth in comparison to other people.

3:52 PM
@Rubiksmoose that makes more sense

@goodguy5 I got perfect marks off the probability course
I rule the dice

@kviiri dice don't work based on probability. MY purple d20 is way better than my green one. That's why I use it for my players and use the green one when I GM (give my players a slight advantage). (/joking)

@DavidCoffron A few years ago the CS admittance exam of our University had an assignment about constructing three six-sided dice A, B and C with different numberings so that A was likely (>50%) to roll higher than B, B was likely to roll higher than C, and C was likely to roll higher than A. I recall someone asking about the solution later, because it was (according to him) "impossible by the laws of probability".
(it's not!)
but now I'm off for sauna

@kviiri seems impossible if we can only change the numbering. Can we change the weights too?

@Rubiksmoose Dominate Person has no material component :(

4:05 PM
@NautArch :(

@Rubiksmoose I"e only tried it once and they made the save anyway.
but will have to remember no disadvantage next time

@Rubiksmoose @NautArch that seems weird to me. Ima read the rules just to make sure

@NautArch Yeah, we risk turning the comments into a help pile ...

@Rubiksmoose your name is in the autocomplete on my phone...

Such Magic!

4:09 PM
@DavidCoffron I agree
@DavidCoffron that is amazing lol

@Rubiksmoose Yep. A Spellcasting focuses only use is to replace material components... dang

so would this also apply to things like Rod of the Pact keeper?

@NautArch no, that bonus applies to all Warlock spells, not just ones you use the rod for (you gain the benefits just from holding the rod)

yeah, just looked at the specific language

4:28 PM
Would this be on topic or better for another stack (any idea which): "Is it possible to have 4 six sided dice with letters so that every roll results in a word? Assume the same order for the dice each time. If not, what if I can reorder the dice (in this situation it would be best if only one word were possible in every permutation)?"

@DavidCoffron This sounds like a CS problem

I know how to write a code for it. I was just hoping I could do it easier... maybe someone who likes anagrams who might might happen to know.

At first glance 4 dice might not work, but I can see 3 working

I have a few solutions for 3
Sort of. I used vowels multiple times on one die
Might be easier with d4

I seriously hate that targeting with AOEs is not defined. That is a huge flaw IMO. targeting is an important mechanic
Currently having a chat debate with someone about it

4:35 PM
@DavidCoffron Do you feel the need to have every side of a d6 locally unique? Like, you can't have the same letter repeated in the same die?

@Rubiksmoose what do you mean?

@NautArch The rules do not say if everyone in an AOE is considered a target or not. I certainly believe that all the examples provided imply it, but a simple thing stating that would be amazing.

@Rubiksmoose ah, gotcha. Yeah, the rules seem to heavily imply that all creatures within an AOE effect becomes targets.

@NautArch I don't think that anything I've seen contradicts this, but I really wish it was explicit.

@KorvinStarmast Okay, I'm going to pause you right there -- rather than arbitrarily blame everyone for failing a user, Chad had major issues he brought to the site that were his own, including, self-admitted in a meta feature request, that he immediately felt attacked by notifications he received, and frequently responded with attack, which he admitted was his own issue.
He left. This was not a suitable place for him. That's his choice. It's not our responsibility to facilitate that, nor should anyone desire to try to facilitate a user who cannot meet decent behaviour expectations. We can do our best, but there's not much we can do when a user has that level of trouble with features like “receives notifications about things”. We tried our best (like, we tried a lot), things weren't working for them, they left of their own volition.
It's not a good situation. But there was a lot going on you haven't been privy to, either because you evidently didn't see that meta (it didn't occur here) or because I and other diamonds cleaned it up so that others wouldn't have to deal with it. A user decided this was not the place for them, and that's on them to decide.

4:47 PM
@GreySage the more unique the better. The obvious solution is having every letter the same. All words ideally have equal probability of showing up
@GreySage I'm thinking about making a child friendly rpg system where the word the dice shows determines what happens. I.e. H / I / T or W / I / N. Might be too difficult

I think you can do it, if you repeat letters on each die (only have 3 unique letters on each, maybe?)

I'll look into it. Right now I'm enjoy my ice cream :)

@DavidCoffron It might make a good puzzle for that stack.

5:07 PM
@DavidCoffron No, but to some extent that can be simulated by having repeating numbering. (My intuition suggests that there's a solution that works without repeats)

ugh, too full from lunch

@goodguy5 same

@goodguy5 have some jell-o. there's always room for jell-o.

But Jello doesn't make MORE room
@DavidCoffron what do hin and wit do?

My Gelatinous Cube pet begs to differ

5:16 PM
"Why are Gelatinous cubes 10 feet?"
"Because Dungeons are 10 feet"

@goodguy5 those weren't specific solutions. Just examples Of How my idea would work

I should have made it clearer I was kidding

Is there a what happens to the stuff a gelatinous cube eats? Question on here yet :P

@DavidCoffron It dissolves, the nutrients are processed by the cube's biology, waste is excreted as slime

Well, it dissolves if it's acid-vulnerable

5:19 PM
What happens when a GC eats another GC.

Would the cube eventually get clogged up by acid-immune junk then?

@DavidCoffron either that or it gets pooped out

David: The junk impedes the cube's ability to "sneak up" on prey so clogged-up cubes would starve to death

(don't judge, dungeons are lonely, hungry places sometimes)

but mithril plate armor is pretty rare, so I don't think it happens often.

5:20 PM
Or, the cube could attempt to squeeze through a small space and leave its treasure behind

@Rubiksmoose the one must save to avoid getting engulfed (with disadvantage). And then whatever ones are engulfed take damage
@SPavel in my next setting I build there will be a scavenger creature that follows around Gelatinous cubes to get gear from adventurers it cant defeat itself and sell them
Maybe I'll call it the Spavel species in your honour (with your permission of course)

@DavidCoffron does it have some sort of chariot mechanism? or does it follow it around on foot?

@DavidCoffron In an adventure we are playing we actually do find GC leavings in certain places btw iirc

@goodguy5 a symbiotic thing. The creature sticks to the edge of the cube while it goes around eating and if something can't get fully digested he reaches in and bang treasure

@DavidCoffron interesting. like those little fish on sharks

5:27 PM
Maybe. Or just sneaks around on foot following behind

@DavidCoffron my first mental image was that it's a dungeon with 10x10 hallways, but there's also a 3x3 lip on the bottom edges. Turns out there is a kobold (or multiple) that traverse the dungeon via these trenches

@goodguy5 that would be an interesting work around for the Kobold dungeoneers that need to avoid unpleasantries with Oozes. It's also one of those things that the characters might pick up on and be more wary about cubes. Brilliant

@DavidCoffron I have my moments

5:42 PM
Just gonna say this: I want more oozes in Mordenkainens Tome.of Foes. Four in the MM and one in volos is not enough

how many do you need?

Enough to make Juiblex feel like the Demon Prince he is. I don't want to just jam his layer of the abyss with tons of the same creature

Then say they're different creatures

@DavidCoffron Acid-proof (mithril?) fishing line & hook
Or set up mithril tripwire nets

As a reminder, Mimics are still immune to Acid Damage

5:54 PM
@goodguy5 "Behold my greatest creation: the terrifying SLIME-SHARK!" It's a gelatinous cube with a shark in it

exactly
but also like... just say they're different colors and stuff.

FYI GCs only dissolve tissue, they leave inorganic materials (and bones) behind.

Bouillon cube: a gelatinous cube full of very hot salty broth.
Rubix Cube: A giant pitch black cube that flashes a primary color to indicate the next attack.
Hyper cube: like a normal GC but with 10x the speed.

@Rubiksmoose I thought you were going to say the outside becomes the inside every 1d6 rounds or something

@KorvinStarmast it's the little each day part that gets me

6:03 PM
@Rubiksmoose The danger of a hypercube is that it is 4-dimensional, while the walls enclosing you are 3-dimensional; it can move orthogonal to space and re-enter at an arbitrary point

Gelatinous Tesseract

@Miniman it is very powerful, it just doesn't work for everyone's builds

Nissan Cube: Same as a regular GC only uglier.

Don't forget about Game cube, Time cube, or Ice cube

@Rubiksmoose I'm disappointed that's not confirming to the form factor expectations of a cube

6:08 PM
Noneuclidian Cube

@doppelgreener I mean yeah if they couldn't make it pretty might as well make it true to its name right? But no, didn't even do that.

@goodguy5 D&D 4e could do that :)
(due to its weirdest quirk)

Non-Euclidean geometry isn't scary
Ooh it's a creature from elliptic geometry! Ooh, its triangles have 360 degrees of angles!

It can get pretty fun though.

6:24 PM
Please can someone help her: rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/120726/… . I have a very loud personality so my character always ends up important (I usually have to tone back since I want other players to feel involved too) so I don't have much experience here to help, but it's making my sympathy brain itch. I think everyone deserves a good first experience in TTRPGs.

^
I was going through the same motions

@DavidCoffron I VTCd because it's not really a question we can answer

is it 20 rep to join chat?

They joined a bad game, they didn't like it, and they left. Now they're asking for, what, approval of their decision?

I think it's more like "Is this normal? Should I have quit? I wanted to explore this hobby, but it seems dumb"
So, less "approval" and more "reassurance"
Also @DavidCoffron how dare you assume their gender

6:27 PM
@DavidCoffron an important concept there would be spotlight, and spotlight management (which wasn't being done properly).

@doppelgreener I get that as an experienced GM, but some systems lack specific insights into how to run an effective table so her/his (@goodguy5) GM might not have that capability without more experience or effort

Spotlight Associate, Assistant Spotlight Manager, Spotlight Manager, Director of Lights, Vice President of Spotting, Global Head of Spotty Lights, CSO

I understand that it's an unfortunate scenario, but this really just looks like venting about a bad game. If there's some sort of social-group consequences involved, then they should talk it over with those specific people.

@SPavel hahaha!

@SPavel I just want to make sure that you know that "CSO" did not go unappreciated.

6:30 PM
I do have to question SE's decision to lock refinement tools (chat/comments) behind a rep cap

It's just to prevent spam

@DavidCoffron agreed. But I bring it up because it's a valuable concept for answers to... shine a light on, let's say. :D

I'm not saying it's a terrible design
But it has downsides

but if chat is 20, then someone should post a link to chat

@goodguy5 chat gets unlocked at 20 rep, and you can drop a magic link with [chat] (only works in comments)

6:32 PM
@SPavel what is the rep limit for chat. Is it 50? (That seems to be what I remember but I'm famous for bad memory with numbers)

No idea, I didn't come here until I had 13k points and it was nothing to me but blinding

For 50 you're thinking of "comment everywhere".

it would be wrong for me to comment on this post:
https://rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/120727/what-is-the-5e-wizard-equivalent-of-the-still-spell-and-silent-spell-feats-from

and just say "take three levels in sorcerer"
right?

@goodguy5 without reading the post I can tell you yes.
Since that is clearly trying to solve OP's issue and not managing the question itself

Yes, comments aren't for worse versions of answers.

6:42 PM
fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine

If it's an answer, put it in an answer and give it the attention it deserves.
Thank you, good citizen.

@goodguy5 With just a little more effort, you could instead turn that into an answer like "Sorcerers get metamagic at level 3. [elaborate, provide some sources, etc]. So taking 3 levels of sorcerer will do the trick."

I'm doing it
gawd

@goodguy5 do it FASTER

@MikeQ with minimal opportunities to actually use it (not many metamagic points)

6:43 PM
Well, I would if I didn't have to keep checking chat pings

it doesn't solve their problem of wantin gto do this AS a wizard

@NautArch indeed it does not.

as a Sorc3 you'd get 3 subtle spells/long rest

that's not too bad
except for delaying wizard progression for 3 levels.

@NautArch Not a problem is your primary occupation is "Special Effects Creator" instead of "Adventurer"

6:52 PM
@GreySage heh, quite true.

There. I did it. Geeze
I should really put up an avatar .I'm getting tired of being this fractal mess

@goodguy5 Embrace the fractals my fellow mathematical pattern!

@goodguy5 on mobile I've gotten used to your fragile mess. (I can barely read your name). If you change it, don't be surprised if I don't know who you are for a while :P

changing it now. just need to track down the image I've started using

6:59 PM
@GreySage if I change my avatar to a custom fractal does that make me an imposter

@SPavel I love how one of the avenues for attack AFTER they implement security procedures will be a "doctored hat".

@GreySage right?
Literally a cursed item
This cursed itemm

@DavidCoffron change it to be @goodguy5's current avatar and confuse everybody lol

Hrm...
I thought I changed it, but I still see th efractal

I just... I can't get over the idea of someone being a literal "Hat Hacker".

7:03 PM
@goodguy5 If I remember right it takes a bit.

@goodguy5 Takes time, and Chat might be disconnected from Mainsite?

who knows

@goodguy5 did you click save? (not joking I actually forgot to do this a couple times)

@GreySage A mad hatter, if you will

I did save

7:04 PM
I made my account with FB so I never got a fractal. I feel left out
@Rubiksmoose i forgot to save the first time too

@goodguy5 you don't know that, you don't even know what the DC was.

all yours

@goodguy5 a reddit feat homebrew list whose metamagic feat is signfificantly smaller in size than yours. You're basically giving them the ability of a 3rd level sorcerer for the cost of a feat. That's a pretty big gift :). Consider the value of any 3rd level class feature and how much of an impact it has on a character.

@NautArch half the value, which is in keeping with martial adept

@goodguy5 thank you so much

7:13 PM
@goodguy5 I think your math is off :) Battlemaster gets 3 maneuvers and 4 superiority die. Martial Adept gets 2 maneuvers and 1 die.
Sorcerer gets 2 metamagic choices and 3 sorcery points. That should be an equivalent to something like 1 metamagic and 1 point to be an equivalent(which is what that redditor did) Maybe 1 metamagic and 2 points if you're feeling really generous.

@NautArch Except the feat doesn't scale like Sorcery Points do. It will fall off very quick comparatively
Then again Martial Adept doesn't either

@DavidCoffron nd neither does martial adept.
bingo bango bongo

@NautArch one metamagic and 2 points is what I suggested

@SPavel this is generally symptomatic of any wireless device with a CPU nowadays that isn't, say, a PC
the internet of things is absolutely abound with security flaws, where sometimes the flaw is the lack of any security.
there's a casino data heist that recently took place via hackers targeting a thermostat in a fishtank in the casino. the thermostat had no security, it was connected to their internal network, so they used it to break into that network.

Only 1 point is next to useless, not worth a feat.
Unless you are already a sorcerer and are taking it for the metamagic option

7:20 PM
@NautArch Also, Sorcerers have the ability to turn points into spells and vice versa

@GreySage It gives you 1 subtle spell/day. Just like Martial Adept gives you 1 superiority die/day.
so even though the drop is from 4 maneuvers to 2 maneuvers, you could offer 2 metamagic options and 1 sorcery point as a closer equivalent so that they have an option besides subtle spell, but still only get 1 use/day just like adept

@NautArch no, it's 1 superiority die / rest
they recharge on a short rest

@GreySage @goodguy5 maybe 1 point and the ability to turn level 1 slots into points (only level 1 slots)

@DavidCoffron or give the 1 point a short rest recharge

@DavidCoffron I could see that working

7:32 PM
@DavidCoffron otherwise the power of that feat scales as the wizard levels and no feat does that.
Or give them 2 sorcerer points that recharge on the long rest.
so they can use it twice in a day rather than once.

@NautArch I'd be pretty wary of that. Becomes nearly a "Sorcerers must take this"

@goodguy5 1 point on a short rest? You think that becomes a "must take"?

with an extra metamagic?
yea

@goodguy5 yeah, hence my change to 2 points/long rest. You get only one metamagic option instead of 2, and you get 2 points rather than 3.

@GreySage it's pretty close to the capstone ability

7:33 PM
unless you put in a bunch of words to prohibit how it's used

Ok not pretty close 1/4 of it

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand
we're back to my original suggestion lol

Anyone know how to do transparencies well?

@goodguy5 yes, yes we are. But I'd also limit to to metamagic that only costs 1 point. Limit the big stuff since they're getting more points than they probably should.
@DavidCoffron windows.

@NautArch *slow clap

7:35 PM
@NautArch Generally I find Linux more transparent by far actually.

@NautArch I'm okay with that

@NautArch Twinned, Hieghtened, and Quickened are the only options that can take more than 1 point

I could do it when I get home but trying to do it in an online program on my phone is a nightmare

A non-sorc taking the feat couldn't use them (and so wouldn't take them (except for twinning level 1 spells/cantrips)), a sorc taking the feat can just take them with their class feature instead
Banning them doesn't accomplish anything

Quickened

7:37 PM
@goodguy5 Your avatar still hasn't changed!

ikr

Unless you REALLY don't want a sorcerer to have all 3 of those before level 10

@Rubiksmoose but it's different on the site, right?

@goodguy5 oh! yes it is.

@goodguy5 Chat took a while to catch up to mine too

7:39 PM
@GreySage you could just not have that feat available to sorcerers.

@NautArch Again, I don't think there is any benefit to that. at 1 option and 2 points, it isn't more powerful than an ASI.

@NautArch that's also a very valid point. It's a custom feat for the Wizard to be able to subtle cast illusion spells

@goodguy5 maybe the 2 points only work for a chosen school if magic?
A limit like that lets you be more flexible with how much power you give it

could be
> If you use this ability, you can negate the somatic and verbal components when you cast an illusion spell. You can use this ability 2 times (or 3 or whatever) per long rest.
don't even bother with the points

@goodguy5 that works pretty well for this character specifically but I like making custom feats with more versatility personally

7:48 PM
I mean, sure. I enjoy versatile custom feats. But this is specifically for THIS character in THIS game.

It can be as specific as they want.
> **Subtle Wizardo** - Bob's Wizard, Wizardo, can cast Illusion spells and not have to do the somatic or verbal components. some number of times per day, until I (Frank) say that he's done for the day
I think the version I would present to my players would be my original version. Any metamagic two points or less. You get two points per LR
@Rubiksmoose I don't like your answer to that tortle question. I thought about downvoting on that regard, but decided against it.

By the way your chat changed @goodguy5 Now I can change mine to... well you'll see :)

yay!

@goodguy5 why?

because it seems weird to me.
"I have a natural breast plate thing."
- oh okay cool . 14 AC

"How much is that scale mail?"
- uh... 14 AC, I think

"Awesome. I put both of them on!"
- it does nothing, nerd.

@goodguy5 Also, I just realized that there is a problem with the question

8:01 PM
@goodguy5 AC stacking is very much a thing that 5e prevents

@goodguy5 They are a turtle have you seen them? The first line of their race basically says "lol good luck finding any armor"

@NautArch yea, I know. but it feels wrong

@goodguy5 the idea is that they just shouldn't wear armor.

@Rubiksmoose include that in your answer. But "good luck lol!" is not the same as "no luck"

A tortoise's natural armor would have gaps in exactly the same place as artificial armor
You either have weak spots on the joints or you can't move

8:03 PM
@SPavel that's an excellent point

@goodguy5 it' sjust like the 'natural armor' of an unarmored monk/barbarian.

Found the problem with the question: dandwiki.com/wiki/Tortle_(5e_Race_Variant)

@Rubiksmoose send the standard dandwiki comment

@NautArch "your source is bad and you should feel bad"?

@goodguy5 And now I just wait until my chat changes...

8:05 PM
@SPavel and you are bad!

@DavidCoffron haha nice. well done sir (I checked your profile)

@NautArch I don't know what to do with this question now. What do we usually do with dandwiki questions?

@goodguy5 let me just say that was annoying as all [The Abyss] to do on mobile

Migrate to writing.se

@Rubiksmoose i'm not sure. But in the end your answer still applies. They've got a homebrew race and they're asking how it works with existing rules.

8:09 PM
oh man they already accepted my answer lol now I cannot even delete it.

burninate?
</sarcasm>

@Rubiksmoose I think you can edit it to add in other examples of having to choose AC calculations.

@NautArch ugh but now I have to do this lol

@Rubiksmoose they're no different from other questions

When i first came accross dandwiki i was so very confused. I was like 'I have all the books. Where are these coming from?'

8:12 PM
@doppelgreener indeed. But now I need to rewrite my answer for a new race. and hope OP comes back and sees it.
@doppelgreener it was a very silly question. (mine, that is)

@Rubiksmoose the one you wrote seems ok

@doppelgreener but it is answering from the book tortle not the dndwiki tortle.

@Rubiksmoose I did (kinda). It hasn't changed here yet though

@Rubiksmoose oh. then yes you'll need to tell them what the homebrew tortle does.

@Rubiksmoose citing page 14 of the PHB may solve this for you "Some spells and class features give you a different way to calculate your AC. If you have multiple features that give you different ways to calculate your AC, you choose which one to use."

8:21 PM
@NautArch If only you had been 2 minutes faster. I just dug it up. Thanks :) I'm working on writing it up now
@NautArch answer fixed lol

@Rubiksmoose @doppelgreener that would be an interesting feature. If a major edit (marked by the editor) is made to a question marked as accepted, it would be useful to appear in notifications for the asker.
Or perhaps just any edit
Yay my chat changed!!!

@DavidCoffron hahaha! Fantastic!

quittin time. later nerds

@DavidCoffron lol

8:40 PM
@GreySage someone had to keep the green fractal represented
The unsung hero badge... like how?

@DavidCoffron I have no idea lol

8:58 PM
@Rubiksmoose maybe in a less active stack where people.usually just ask questions and get answers. We are pretty active here

@DavidCoffron Yeah that is the only way I can see. Though I can't imagine accepting an answer I haven't upvoted. I don't think I ever have...

9:40 PM
What elements of play make a game that is not D&D feel like D&D to you?

@DavidCoffron that is tripping me out more than I expected it would lol
(the avatar change)

Hahaha. Yeah me too

Fate Horror Toolkit comes out on May 21st!

When it's so small you can barely tell

[bit: is champed at]

9:53 PM
@nitsua60 @doppelgreener If I believe that my answer already exists on a duplicate that I was unaware of, is it a good idea to delete it? (Per here)

@DavidCoffron it's fine to leave it around

I just feel bad if I end up getting Reputation for it since the legwork was done by someone else

as long as it's an attempt to answer the question, and you're not somehow being a jackass to people, or otherwise giving moderators and/or the community a reason and need to delete it, you're fine & whether your answer stays or gets removed is up to you.
@DavidCoffron sure, but, you also did legwork.

@doppelgreener I guess that makes sense. I'll put it back up. Maybe the plain English will help someone where the linked questions answers can't

i'm not going to lie, you'll probably only get a handful of upvotes if that, but there's no need to delete it. you can if you want, but you don't need to.

9:56 PM
@DavidCoffron I'd put the official Sage Advice in there too btw. As long as you're putting an answer up might as well make it the best it can be eh?

Saying the same thing different ways can be valuable.

@DavidCoffron "Our design intent for such spells is this: a creature enters the area of effect when the creature passes into it. Creating the area of effect on the creature or moving it onto the creature doesn't count. If the creature is still in the area at the start of its turn, it is subjected to the area’s effect."
@DavidCoffron Also I have plenty of answers up on duplicate questions. It'll happen sometimes.

Well... just don't upvote it unless you genuinely thinks it adds something to the answers. I'll feel better.

@DavidCoffron Will downvoting make you feel better ;)

Only from you @Rubiksmoose :P
