He teased it by using a camera flash and then hiding behind a rock, so he could pop out the other side and get a picture up close when it came to investigate.

The shark got wise after about the third time.

@Shalvenay I usually link to a temporary room (usually IRC) where the profile information exchange happens in a private message.

@Zachiel ah. I usually prefer to drop a Discord server-invite link here since those have expiration dates anyhow

The handshake works like this: I create the room, I post the room address here, I wait for someone to show up in the chat, then I ask the person here if they got in the room with the nickname I saw. Just to be sure that nobody is trying to impersonate them. Then we go to the MP room. Complex, maybe, but it reduce the chances that someone uninvited joins.

@Zachiel ah. I recall we tried that at one point and then I lost track of that IRC server...

@Shalvenay irc.esper.net is the one I'm usually in. There's a Hearthstone chat there

It's easy, you have client02.chat.mibbit.com/?server=irc.esper.net&channel=%23 in your browser and add a chat name after that. If it doesn't exist, it gets created and you get administration privileges.

It works for other servers too, of course.
