I'm trying to figure out the range of spells in GURPS.

"This has 1/2D 25, Max 50, Acc 1."

That's a fireball as per the basic set.

I can't find anything that explains this.

That's what I'm hoping. I'm trying to get into GURPS

I like the sandboxy no-class system.

It what my players are used to in my homebrew system. But I'm finding that I lack the time to both add new content and keep our biweekly sessions interesting.

Thus, GURPS might be able to come to the rescue.

Pathfinder Cleric: is "channel energy" a spell or something different? Could it be cast inside an area that has a "silence" spell cast on it?

I've tried that before, to little success. I find that online groups fall apart really easily.

Mawi: You should probably ask that on the main site. That'd be a reasonable question, and would get you some of that rep. :)

But in short, it's not a spell, and it would work in a silenced area.

Spell resistance doesn't apply to channel energy.

Channel energy is a supernatural ability. That's what the (Su) next to the ability name means.

Not too simple. The (Su) should give a hint as this is a class feature. Ask, and earn some rep

The funny thing is, I read super long epic fantasy without a problem, but something about the writing style of Dune just turned me off.

I haven't read Game of Thrones.

I had to struggle through them by the end. The story was really good, but the writing just didn't pull me in.

But I did eventually get used to the rhythm of Dune.

Last night I was talking to a friend in Rochester who lamented that his university stays open based on how safely people who live on campus can get to class, rather than whether it's safe to commute.

Then he put on two more layers of clothing and walked half a mile to the bus stop.

I mean this is a fair point, especially when you consider that the staff of the university (let alone the graduate students) tend to live away from campus.

He's a grad student.

Had to go and teach a class to the people with heated tunnels running from dorm to college.
