Saaay, is there a way to make a wheel-click behave the same way (somewhat) in the Windows Explorer as it does in Firefox ? (Open a in a new window, while it's tabs in Firefox)?
@ruda.almeida UX.stackexchange.com people tend to be less knowledgeable?

1 hour later…
03:27
@Ariane: middleclick to open in new window is the default behaviour since IE7 it seems

@JourneymanGeek I guess the reasoning is if they have it set up to auto-wipe after some time without a password being entered?
Though that would be taking paranoia to new levels...
@Bob: or autowipe on wrong password, or some other dead man's switch
it also makes it easier to ensure that the system has not had any further changes made to it by the police
(which is essential. Having nice wonderful evidence laying out your suspect's plans in detail are useless if your defence lawyer can get it all thrown out for the possibility of tampering)
04:23
and god, I have a potentially unhealthy love of forensics. Its GREAT fun, unless you happen to be law enforcement.
04:37
@JourneymanGeek I meant Windows Explorer, as in, the thingie that displays files and folders and has a nice little folder-like icon on the taskbar. o.o Not Internet Explorer.
05:19
Windows explorer has tabs?
I will give this a poke when I get home.
On my way to pick up my new headphones <3
05:55
It doesn't. I meant, "just as wheel-click opens a new tab in Firefox, I would like it to open a new window in Windows Explorer".
But now I'm going to bed. So yeah, just ping me something. Have a good evening.
Bob
Bob
@Ariane That's essentially a right click followed by e

@Bob I'll have you teach me about that mysterious program tomorrow. But for now good night~

lol
@Bob: they are idiots?
Maybe it's dynamically constructed in the backend and other people get additional frames
Or maybe they decided that frames are just awesome
Bob
Bob
@OliverSalzburg Looking more like the latter at the moment :P
Or they had some more frames at some point that they removed.
11:58
and they are bloody idiots
(don't mind me, I'm just a tiniest bit...)
wait
why are they running jsp on... IIS?
lol :D
running jsp needs Tomcat iirc
They have two servers running instead of one
which is why they're redirecting, and that keeps breaking and...
ow.. my head
Bob
Bob
@JourneymanGeek not to mention, it seems their front end is IIS
IIS 6.0, no less
Copying 3000 mails from one account to another in Thunderbird, mail 2800 is too large for target mailbox, whole process is aborted with no indication which message caused the issue or which emails have been copied :(
Bob
Bob
o.O
@OliverSalzburg time for bugzilla?
> All versions of IIS prior to 7.0 running on client operating systems supported only 10 simultaneous connections and a single web site.
I wonder if they're running XP or Server 2003
12:08
prolly XP
oh, FFS
@Bob I'm too angry to write a proper bug report :P
Bob
Bob
well, any connections past the tenth would be dropped
which explains why its perodically down
And it took me a while until I noticed that the "error messages" were popping up in an alert bubble thingie over the notification area. Which is like 3000 pixels to the right from where Thunderbird is located. And, of course, I couldn't find a way to read past error messages, so it took me a while until I even realized what the issue was

morning guys....
@NullPoiиteя Hi
can i ask question on main site about weblogic_platform810 ..... i am unable to install it,it just stop without any error ... is it fine to ask because i dont have much information why its not working
@OliverSalzburg keepas is awesome ... +1
I've never heard of "weblogic_platform810", so I have no idea if someone might have an idea about your problem
You could try, but unless it's a very common issue, I doubt people will be able to help you if you don't have much information :\
@NullPoiиteя Great that you like it :)
good answer deserve love :) ...... it just got stuck at i.sstatic.net/25GGU.png and nothing happens after that ... thank-you :) .... trying to find more information

@OliverSalzburg weblogic is an enterprise JSP/JavaEE application server... from Oracle
honestly I think a better bet would be stackoverflow

@Bob: I'm wondering something - do you have foobar2k on the system you have issues with beats?
Bob
Bob
@JourneymanGeek no, but I'm on the machine now
I can install it?
why?
14:44
@Bob: well, I'm wondering if using kernel streaming (which I have no idea how it works) or WSAPI exclusive mode would bypass the beats wierdness
no good for gaming, of course
Bob
Bob
hmm
that would be something interesting to test
but I'd guess not
Beats is built into the freaking audio driver
WASAPI Exclusive would bypass Beats, guaranteed
da ;p
thats what I'm thinking
Bob
Bob
@allquixotic Built into the driver?
WASAPI Exclusive bypasses the device audio graph and sends the bits from the application straight into the hardware
unless the hardware is doing it, it won't get picked up
14:45
yup
Bob
Bob
oooooh
and if you had foobar2k, its pretty darned easy to test, just one official plugin
Bob
Bob
makes me wonder if VAC's KS repeater could help
@JourneymanGeek link?
@Bob: WASAPI is supposed to bypass the onboard mixer and quite a few things
I assume its running windows 7 or better?
Bob
Bob
hmm
WASAPI event or push?
@JourneymanGeek 8
14:49
er...
lettme check
I ALWAYS get confused with that

push
if that dosen't work THEN event driven

Q: Expanding our product reviews for the blog

KronoSThe Super User Blog has reviewed in the past a few products from other companies. I would like to propose that we expand this even further. I would like to setup a system whereby either users or companies can request reviews of products for the blog. The basic process flow would be as follows:...

@JourneymanGeek @terdon here's my 2.0
I like it ;p
@JourneymanGeek I think it'd be awesome to have a Review.SU site similar to Careers.SO
14:53
@KronoS: it would
we'd be the only site that could really use it tho
@JourneymanGeek We have such a broad base of products that could be reviewed it'd be pretty good I think
XD
@KronoS: I need to write two on G+ as is XD
Bob
Bob
holy shit
this sounds awesome
@Bob told ya :D
Bob
Bob
14:55
(though, foobar sounds better than any other player even with the default output device, for some reason)
thanks!
@Bob: this is how EVERYTHING sounds to me. Only better XD
permaban?
test it by trying to play some other sound at the same time....
@allquixotic: shouldn't work, right?
Bob
Bob
@allquixotic I've been alternating the same song with WMP
14:56
right
@Bob OH then you're using WASAPI in shared mode
which doesn't bypass the device audio graph
@allquixotic: o0 can you even do that?
Bob
Bob
oh, at the SAME time
nope, no go
WMP is rather unhappy with me at the moment
> An audio device was disconnected or reconfigured. Verify that the audio device is connected, and then try to play the item again.
@allquixotic: the WASAPI plugin ONLY does exclusive
@JourneymanGeek JRiver Media Jukebox lets you choose between exclusive mode and shared mode
Bob
Bob
that's the downside, I guess
14:57
exclusive mode is bits -> hardware; shared mode uses the new improved API but everything gets software mixed and then effects get applied
@allquixotic: is shared mode bit-perfect?
Bob
Bob
great if I just want to listen to music, but useless if I want to do something else with music in the background
ugh, then its useless, might as well use SD
@Bob: XD, thats about all of what I use one of my soundcards for ;p
shared mode still provides lower latency and less dropouts than directsound or waveout though imho
Bob
Bob
14:58
(and I use the desktop for most music listening, cause, ya know, laptop has crappy sound in comparison anyway)
still, thanks, this'll probably still be useful :P
@Bob: I use an external sound card i ganked from my dad, and a amplifier I got for 45 quid of my favourite crapgadget vendor ;p
WASAPI is the best native user-mode audio API for Windows >= 7, because it most closely matches the new kernel-mode audio framework
Bob
Bob
o.O
wtf is this BSWWMPPlugin
DirectSound is designed around assumptions that might've been true in 1999 with PCI sound cards but aren't true anymore
Bob
Bob
some random plugin on WMP
15:00
no clue ;p
Bob
Bob
hmm.. background plugin
I suspect Beats, as usual..
Beats SoftWare Windows Media Player Plugin? (wild guess) :P
beats sounds like the glitter of software
audiophile forum so take with a MASSIVE ladle of salt.
Bob
Bob
@JourneymanGeek it's true
that's what I've been ranting about
beats is like taking a massive poo (with the runs), not flushing, then trying to cover it in TP and spraying half a can of air freshener in the bathroom as a consolation to the next person
Bob
Bob
15:04
that's the 'basic' control panel
@allquixotic: I'm of the firm belief that if you think you're going to mess with my sound, I will rip off your arms, and make you experience everything that fischer explicitly covers in their manual. ESPECIALLY the ravenous bugblatter beast of traal. with sewed open eyelids
Bob
Bob
when Beats is enabled, it sets Bass to max
when disabled?
@Bob: thats a very odd value of zero
Bob
Bob
Bass = -12, Treble = +4
i.e. min/max
@Bob rofl. "WE MAKE IT SOUND BETTERER" == "WE MAKE IT SOUND AWFUL WITHOUT OUR CRAP"

15:04

@allquixotic more or less

DiskKeeper Defragger: upon uninstall, purposefully fragment your HDD as much as possible
then you'll be running back to them

Bob

both my sennheisers and my beats are on-ear, and very comfortable to wear... comfort isn't the issue, the excessive bass in the beats is the only issue i have with them
15:08
actually thats the problem I had with my HD202s
we tend to hash out the same thing over and over here >_>
let's talk about Haswell again!
(seriously please let's not)
I have a little fiio e3, it bumps up the bass in theory, but for some reason the HD202s work better with it
@allquixotic: eh, audio stuff is my other hobby

it would then take commands in a loop with that folder added to the path
@Bob I'm just looking for the latest though

this was for a network where cmd.exe wasn't allowed to run, but batch scripts worked

@jokerdino change download location to india ?
ah i see.
@HackToHell how?
Steam ---> settings ---> downloads
right now, it is singapore
and i believe they have better servers than the indian one
then there's a problem with your connection :P
@jokerdino yes, mine is set to singapore

yeah i was just kidding. it is at 100kb/s
@HackToHell "If you did nothing wrong, what do you have to hide?"

I am new to gaming.
I only really played Counter Strike and some Halo.
I haven't played anyone of those games ...
you never played CS? o_O
what about NFS?
I have played NFS, GTA and Pokemon in VBA emulator :D
when i was younger nyways
Is TF2 just 6.4 GB?
17:28
@allquixotic I know. I still haven't gotten the update notification for Youtube yet. :P
If you have Source Engine then yes
though it's technically 12.172 gb
What's the difference?
I only have Steam.
CS and other Valve games run on Source Engine
And Source Engine is shared so only textures are downloaded if you already have a game that uses the Source Engine
i see
Bob
Bob
@HackToHell The newer ones.
CS1.6 and HL ran on GoldSrc. There's a few more that did.
