If the edit button is greyed out, does that mean I've edited too many posts too fast?
:c
There's a situation where that happens

I feel like I'm being punished for being a nice guy. This is new for me being on the internet.
o0
thats new
did you get a lot of rejects?
Qix
Qix
How do you check?
00:10
errr
let me check
hmm
that's odd then
Qix
Qix
for stackoverflow
not SU
sorry, should have clarified.
yes, absolutely
actually... I don't really see why either. You were editing till 9 minutes ago
ask on MSO
at worst the question will be closed as dupe, but make sure its clear you've done lots of edits, and tried to improve quality and all that jazz
Qix
Qix
Oh, well I've seen lots of meta questions saying to remove thanks.
:P
00:21
and make other fixes ;p
I'd suggest playing it safe and sticking to big edits at first
(thank god I got full edit rights here. Bad spelling bothers the hell out of me some days)
Qix
Qix
I mean I've edited a ton of posts before without this ever happening.
>.>
Anyway, I know how long this 'ban' will last?
nope, precisely why I suggested asking on MSO
Qix
Qix
Ah k
Oh, meta stack overflow.
it is a SO problem right?
Qix
Qix
I was thinking a chat room called MSO. I need to sleep
00:31
MSO also happens to be SO's meta, in addition to SE's meta
lol

@OliverSalzburg Didn't you say that your Root Access dark theme could not be proper cause of some javascript stuff ? causing replies to make messages yellow and all ?

kudos to ms for that
anyone else interested in computer security, and wants a ebook bruce schneier seems to like?
@JourneymanGeek Can I have it ?
if you can wait 5 minutes or so, I'm assembling the whole book as a single PDF ;p
okay :)
The book's nice !
haven't read it yet
just noticed on Schneier's blog ;p
if it had been mentioned a week earlier I'd have read it during downtime at reservist ;p
looking at the contents, I really could have used this in school ;p

I'll talk to a mod later about that ;p
05:56

Download Oz the Great and Powerful Movie Divx, download the Oz the Great and Powerful dvd, Oz the Great and Powerful Movie Film Full Download. The Oz the Great and Powerful ...

@JourneymanGeek I have\ downloaded it
06:13
lol, I think I'll leave the link up ;p
06:32
@JourneymanGeek it seems it was my keyboard after all
Other people are complaining about it online as well
and if I unplug it, nothing bad happens
I might have to thoroughly delete the drivers, but I don't want to reboot now :P
@IvoFlipse: :/
Blackwidow wasn't it?
:/ Indeed
Yeah
Their firmware is pretty messed up
I personally have been lucky with razers
And now my mouse starts messing with me again :@
06:36
I had bought a new Logitech, but I didn't like the infinite scroll wheel
I still haven't heard any word on my mouse :/
Locking it sucked even more
And it would keep scrolling even when switching windows
Got very annoyed by zooming Chrome windows
@IvoFlipse: if not for the fact I got a lemon, the roccat I bought was very nice.
roccat?
/me went back to the G300 while waiting for it to be replaced tho
yeah, german company, has awesome mice, and even awesomer tech support
I HAVE been bitching about this a lot on G+ and here ;p
06:38
So it seems, I don't want a mouse with button overkill
lol
define overkill ;p
I think around 6 is a nice number these days
It should have the back/forward button and perhaps scroll side ways
for the rest it should just not suck
and not drain the battery as much
oh, cordless?
06:39
Not necessarily
I have one now, but I'd prefer to not lose power in the middle of a SC2 game
lol
logitech.com/en-us/product/gaming-mouse-g300?crid=825 this is decent, other than the edge buttons being somewhere where they are hard to use
Looks terrible :P
lol
works wonderfully
well, I like amphidexterous mice ;p

I think they're blustering again

Whether blustering or not, they're crazy.

@JourneymanGeek D:
or maybe that racoon
Bob
Bob
lol
perhaps I should change my gravatar...
@JourneymanGeek Seems to be quite the opposite..
I mean, would you decide to give aid to a country threatening to annihilate you? :\
08:01
i do not get that :/

I still do not get it :(

Ah I get it now :D
Bob
Bob
@JourneymanGeek so much for their threats to flatten American cities; they'd barely manage to get the rocket/missile going in the right direction at the rate they're going.
unless they've hidden a lot
pretty much
lol
here's the thing, doing that would seriously piss off the chinese
unlike in the 1950s
hell the chinese might just secure their borders and let the US bomb NK into the stone age
then go in to render humanitarian aid after the fact
Bob
Bob
SK is the main/only country really under threat here
Bob
Bob
and it's not threat of losing, more the potentially large amount of damage (to lives and property) in the first day or so. mobilisation is pretty fast nowadays..
08:09
pretty much
and any self respecting military has some forces on standby at any time
Bob
Bob
@JourneymanGeek scary thought, supporting 24 million probably heavily brainwashed people...

but the population wasn't nearly as fanatical
or, at least, apparently fanatical
08:13
well, we don't really know, do we?
what we see of north korea is very heavily tinted by what the north korean government and those who opposed them want us to see
Bob

@HackToHell wut.
Perfectly anonymous domains names are finally possible for the general public !
Bob
Bob
and yet, they don't seem to have working IPv6 glue records
@HackToHell it was always possible
08:15
How ? o0
Bob
Bob
I could walk down to the local post office, buy a Visa gift card, register it with a false name (registration is online, no checks) and pay using that
add Tor, and it's more or less untrackable
I do not think we have Visa gift cards here -_-
the back to me spell really works...

Can anyone enlighten me on connecting to VPNs from browser itself? I've found about WebVPN, but not sure if it needs any extra hardware(e.g. cisco router) or not and if it can be used with any VPN.
@Bibhas Why do you need to do so ?
@HackToHell Not me, kind of a client requirement for the company
@Bibhas webvpn is specific to a full cisco setup (incl server side changes & what not)
Was guessing so. It's bound to AnyConnect, right?
So any other way? Any generic way to connect to a VPN from a browser?
And WebVPN uses java ...
11:21
I guess. I tried using it long ago when I reqd to connect to a Cisco VPN via a client, but the client didn't support linux. Found it needs server side changes, which are out of my scope so left it
Or you could set up a intermediate computer and set up a SOCKS proxy on the intermediate
@Bibhas no clue..
might help if you mention what exactly you're trying to do
@Sathya that client wants to connect to a VPN from his browser without installing any client and all. :-/
which vpn?
Bob
Bob
@Bibhas connect to a VPN? You mean route all requests from that browser through a VPN?
11:34
Ok. I just got the details. They don't have a VPN yet. They want to setup one so that anyone can connect to it from a browser.
What do they want to do with the VPN ? Use it to connect to internal lan or something ?
@Bob I think yes. They want access to the internal network from a browser only. I still dont have the specific details of what they want to achieve. I'm just digging around what all is possible. My knowledge on VPN is a bit limited, so working on that too. @HackToHell
That word, it does not mean what they think it neans.
11:38
@bibas nearly every vpn adds a vpn only interface . A proxy might work better from your drscription
Pardon my spelling
On the phone
@JourneymanGeek it's ok. I think they want a proxy too. But they are sticking to the term VPN. Why are dumb people always in charge?
My intermediate thingy will still work assuming that LAN proxy is what I think it is
and some routes on the intermediate
Well, cause technology is hard
And management is rarely wise enough to know what they do not
@HackToHell Can you explain briefly?
Oh well, you could set up a intermediate computer than connects to the VPN and then another proxy software there, the client configures the browser to the intermediate.
Also it depends on what the client wants to route
Also I tend to overly complicate stuff :S
11:51
@HackToHell got it. Let's stop here. I'll just ask and wait for more details. This is wasting time.
And configuring a VPN to do that imo is a nightmare
@Bibhas that's a good idea !
For now I'd just look for a clientless VPN solution
i tried to do that a while back, figured it would too much time so I gave up
@JourneymanGeek Those roccats look cool. I want a wireless one though, which I know if verboten in gaming.
@JourneymanGeek if you ask me, it looks like they want a VPN for access from external network
Bob
Bob
12:09
@HackToHell yea, a SOCKS proxy (without the VPN) would be enough :P
@Bibhas I assume you just want HTTP/FTP?
if it's just to load web pages, SOCKS would be good enough
@Bob yes
Bob
Bob
most browsers have an option to add 'local' addresses (e.g. 192.168.x.x) as an exception to a SOCKS proxy
therefore, I think it's safe to assume that everything goes through the proxy by default
@Bob Assuming that they do not change anything about fact that they want a VPN :P
Bob
Bob
@HackToHell terminology. blah.
if it's just through a web browser, a VPN does not add anything over SOCKS
except possibly DNS
which I believe you can forward through SOCKS anyway
eh, even if the default options don't have it, FoxyProxy can do it
Perform remote DNS lookups on hostnames loading through this proxy
there's an added bonus with FoxyProxy: you can whitelist specific sites to go through the proxy
so you can list only the internal resources you want access to, and everything else will still load through a direct connection
great for speed and conserving bandwidth
@Bibhas If, on the other hand, they expect the web browser to set up a 'VPN' connection for other programs (other than the browser itself), then, well, that's just stupid
yea, if you're looking for a contained-in-browser solution, go SOCKS
or even a HTTP proxy
12:27
@Bob I don't think they want that. Yes, that'd be plain stupid.
Bob
Bob
No.There is no problem in other PCs connected to same LAN. — winman 43 mins ago
well, at least he qualified that No
if No was the only response, I would have been... rather annoyed
(the question was along the lines of was it foo or bar?)
Bob
Bob
xD
@Paul I actually use it more for general stuff. wireless mice feel wierd to me tho
@JourneymanGeek Yeah me too, gamer mice are just built better. But yeah, wired mice feel weird to me

Bob
@TomWijsman I wonder if this one is just a static page...
