@bertieb When I worked in a computer shop, I'd put the bead down, rub it around with my pinky to all the edges to cover it, then put the heat sink on. Worked well for the computers I built - no over heating issues ever came back

Last time I did it was a week ago on my old work laptop. Was shutting down from opening any program. Ripped it apart, saw the paste was white and chunky, so put in some arctic silver, and then I could run Folding@Home on full with no issues!
