I'm at a computer 90% of my working day

which is telling me the time and date constantly

it c an also tell me notifications, weather etc

but weather - look ouit a window, or be outside

Looking at the sky doesn't tell me what the weather is expected to be like four hours from now, or what the temperature and humidity are right now, which are the main things I want to know

No, but I'm usually out of the house for much of the day, so both the current and expected weather affects how I dress and what I take with me

That said, all this stuff is merely a "nice to have", and before smartwatches existed I got by fine with my phone; the real killer app is notifications

Being able to glance at my wrist and instantly classify something as "I can ignore this/I should deal with this when I'm next at my desk/I should deal with this when next I have my phone out/I need to deal with this now" is huge

Also, when I'm oncall being able to ack pages from my wrist is pretty sweet

For me incoming text or chat messages are more likely to be urgent than incoming phone calls, which are mostly spam

Hmm. I think possibly the best sign of how much I find these features on the watch useful is that I just got a new watch, which is much worse at the calendar stuff, and it is *driving me crazy

I'm kinda pondering switching my ticwatch2 for a ticwatch pro

It was really banged up and the battery life wasn't there anymore, so I replaced it with a Pebble 2

Which was great for a little while, but then the back and one of the buttons fell off, and Pebble no longer exists for warranty support

So I replaced it with a Samsung fit2 pro on sale, except lol it turns out the fit2, which is specifically advertised as a swimming watch and supposedly rated for 5atm hydrostatic pressure, fails after ten minutes in half a meter of water

And Samsung refuses to cover that under warranty

So now I'm using a Fitbit Versa, which is a better fitness tracker but a worse smartwatch than either Pebble or the Fit2

But on the plus side going swimming with it on doesn't instantly destroy it

@Bob It frustrates me that fitbit hasn't released a new pebble

Instead they have all these crappy overpriced clichéd smartwatches

They could've kept all of pebble's userbase by launching a new version with better marketing

Hell, the Pebble Core was all prototyped and ready, they didn't even have to do any work on designing it

Im home and it's 26 C outside and 22 C inside and I'm wearing light pants and two socks on each foot and feeling a slight chill in my leg bones.

I'm in the shade (there's this huge building that blocks sunrays from reaching my window...), meanwhile I'm really certain if I go out just some light clothes would be more than enough. As in, the sky is blue and a nice just-warm-enough sun is out.
