hm. I think I'm gonna wait for S9 release (Note9?) before trying to update my phone again. looks like the root process changed again... at least if I brick it then, I can switch to a new phone. win!

It'd also be interesting to know if there was a program that could interpret a string as many different dates formats, so you could pick out ones which could be correct. example situation you know the date is in 2017, but you don't know the date format.
like its a really obscure date format, but probably a known one, and you have no idea how to interpret it, but you know its probably from a certain year
I have a man cave that has to hold all my toys, so my large collection of computers with spinning hard drives is about 10 feet from my drum set. The drum set is largely idle, but my kid is now old enough to start playing, and I fear for my spinners.

I'm starting to get tired of the USB 3.0 to 2.0 adapter. The sleeving on the 3.0 side is loose and the soldering quality isn't the best. I had to detach the 2.0 end a bit earlier to test the (only) USB 2.0 header on the motherboard, which serves only a single port. (At least I've verified that it operates.)
It does look like that as long as I don't manipulate it too much, it should hold up for the life of the system.
