But this is an enterprise hard drive. While I can see its merits in a consumer desktop, this makes for a much more expensive drive than necessary.

Then again, Seagate's prosumer-level 12TB BarraCuda Pro drive is still $500.

If I'm not mistaken, 4 TB is still going to give you the best cost per GB. Unless you need more storage density, higher-capacity drives aren't worth it and you'd probably want to add extra drives to the system.

The thing about these new helium hard drives is not merely the fact that they have high storage density. They also consume less power and generate less noise, thanks to lower air resistance in rotation. This allows up to a whopping 8 platters spinning at 7200 RPM.

Make sure the system's properly grounded. If you're not sure, many surge suppressors have an indicator light that tells you if there's a problem with your building's wiring.

A: Screen stuck in black and white

I just had the same problem and it took me awhile to figure it out. To fix it, turn on the color filter under "color and high contract", or push Windows + Ctrl + C.

Apparently there's other settings too

A lot of studios also take a longer term view - while they do franchises, they tend to release games over a longer period, (like EA) or after an initial full price sale, they do discounts so they make back money over a longer period.

I mentioned EA specifically for a reason - their model's basically "Buy up popular franchises, and release games on a steady stream" - and they're kinda super big on these

@JourneymanGeek if you're using AF, look at the metering modes. matrix, spot, centre-weighted

then you can pick focus (and exposure) by half-pressing the shutter with, say, spot metering at your preferred focus point and and then full-press on what you actually want to photograph :P

but I suppose that's more useful for close-up photos :P
