Pretty impressive, but note that Bayonetta isn't a particularly demanding game (it's an enhanced port of a quite old console game). Also, it's running at 720p.
Problem is, though, the reviewer noted repeated game crashes. I suspect this is a driver issue; AMD should sort this out soon.
The power consumption numbers, on the other hand, are very, very good.
I wonder if oneliner still works (I switched over to vivaldi a little back, once I got over my vertical space possessiveness)
Score of 577 (nT), 128 (1T) in Cinebench R15. That's pretty impressive.
Compare to my old gaming laptop (before the heatsink was damaged):
Apr 15 at 20:31, by bwDraco
Maxon Cinebench version R15.0 on Core i7-4800MQ (4C/8T Haswell @ 2.7-3.7 GHz): 635 multi-core, 130 single-core.
Mind you, this is a 15W processor!
(not sure what the actual cTDP is, but even at 25W, this is a remarkable result)
(best results on Astaroth are 1617 and 149 respectively, CPU at stock clocks with DDR4-2933 memory)

So... this is the first commercially available Raven Ridge laptop. Your thoughts?
@JourneymanGeek, have you tried running Cinebench R15 on Nyx?

Free download.
Cinebench, when used correctly, is a very consistent benchmark. Scores rarely differ by more than 1% over multiple runs.
Ya but not much fun in benchmarking an old, reliable machine

No more bad student performance!
...why is there a 2.1 GB /var/log/kern/logfile on this server?
And why it's filled with nothing but lines containing
`rsyslogd: imklog: error reading kernel log - shutting down: Bad file descriptor`
20272754 lines of it
@ThatBrazilianGuy Rhyming slang - £1 is a "nicker" or a "quid", and a "quid" is a "squid"
Interesting aside - A @bob is a shilling (12p in old UK money) - A bob was a money collection where participants put in a shilling each, usually for drinks. The expression then arose "to get your two bob's worth" which meant something was very good value, Aussies being fond of the occasional ale.

o.O
@ThatBrazilianGuy fix your logrotate :P
IIRC one of the Ubuntu versions broke logrotate
5
Q: Ubuntu 14.04 - logrotate does not rotate /var/log/* (rsyslog config)

ServerNinjaI have a bunch of Ubuntu 14.04 servers I manage where logrotate is not rotating anything under /var/log/*. I'm going to assume its an issue with the /etc/logrotate.d/rsyslog as I see other entries in /etc/logrotate.d/ rotating logs properly. These servers are deployed using CHEF. However I don't...

@Bob It was worse that that:
> Right after a update of Ubuntu Server I faced that rsyslog used 100% CPU and that /var/log/syslog got filled up with following line, which was repeated almost every second:

[rsyslog] imklog: error reading kernel log - shutting down: Bad file descriptor

The problem is, that rsyslog tries to log kernel messages, which is as OpenVZ/Proxmox Container default not possible - to fix this, remove/comment out following line in the file /etc/rsyslog.conf (here already done):
Yeah, my CPU was 99% used by a broken rsyslog and I didn't notice

the ISP sent engineers out today and they have confirmed that we have about 12 days of LoS left
their plan is to move the antenna to the front of the building for temporary coverage then in 6 months time when the 2nd new hotel is built they hope to have organised a different relay station for us.

they building something ugly in front of your building?
yup
two 9 storey hotels across the road
and a 5 storey one next door

Good morning
This is the first time I've heard of issues with fixed wireless.
@DavidPostill :P
16:34
@bwDraco it has the same issues any radio service does - also get screwed up by fog, interference what other things...... bad wind XD
@djsmiley2k Wind? Really?
Rain can effect it as can solar proton events - where you referring to Solar Wind? ;)
@PaulVargas human brain will have serious issues dealing with alien life
16:51
@DavidPostill haha
i just remember our radios on the res's in wales would be affected by the wind
i guess they physically blew around a bit
Out of curiosity... why are you stuck with fixed wireless for backhaul?
who me?
victorian building on an arterial route into the city centre
I vaguely remember this error message from the old days of Windows...
> Your system is low on virtual memory. Windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file. During this process, memory requests for some applications may be denied.
Nowadays it's more like "Close programs to prevent information loss".
17:16
trying to get permission to dig up the road is next to impossible
plus openreach has a 90day lead time
@Burgi So? You can run fibre optic cables overground ...

good morning
@DavidPostill that would need telegraph poles
Nah, hang it from the street lights
lol
we are going to run an ethernet to our neighbours
@Burgi What distance is your microwave link?
17:38
about a mile
@Burgi Can't you just put a microwave relay on top of the new building?
Or aim it through their windows? ;)
Total distance: 395.77 m (1,298.44 ft)
lol
we are moving it to the front of our building
@Burgi Non line of sight feasibility shows a number of alternatives ...
the problem is base stations, there aren't enough and none in a direction that soon won't have a tower blockin its way
the ISP are looking up options for us
and we are doing an on load test of our DSL backup line tomorrow afternoon
home time
@Burgi That's what satellites are for :)
17:52
Aren't satellites slow?
@CanadianLuke 28,000 kilometers per hour is not slow ;)
Aren't satellite signals slow?
9
nb
light iw #
@CanadianLuke 50 Mbps is possible. That is a lot faster than my internet ...
18:00
I get 150MBps over cable... But in Canada, from what I've seen advertised by ISPs for remote areas, they're lucky to get 3 MBps!
Disadvantage "A 90-minute delivery delay" ;)
@CanadianLuke High speeds need a satellite using Ka band
Well, that may be why then... Out here, if you're not a major city (or some smaller towns), you get by with either dialup or satellite, and both are painfully slow
xplornet.com/our-internet-packages-2 <-- Example, max out at 25 Mbps (it increased!)

> Hello,

We have determined that the host machine on which your Linode resides requires important updates. These updates will ensure that each host has the latest performance updates, improvements, and is compatible with future product launches. While this is not an emergency, your Linode should be migrated to a new piece of hardware so that you may take advantage of all future product offerings and upgrades.

Your Linode has been entered into a migration queue. You have the option of starting your migration manually before the scheduled time by clicking the 'Migrate' button that's located
(main server)
IIRC that server is on an Ivy Bridge-EP host.

Is there any sort of tuning that is recommended on systems with lots of memory (read: Astaroth)? I already adjusted the size of the hibernation file to the minimum allowed (40% of RAM), anything else?
(32 GB of memory, to be exact.)
20:28
I still have not gotten around to migrating all my documents or music.
(traditionally, I would use SMB shares and an Ethernet cable to do this)
why would you reduce the hibernation file?
i mean, isn't it used to litterally 'dump' the ram to the disk
Windows only dumps active RAM to hiberfil.sys and compresses it as it is written.
So no, you don't need a 32 GB hibernation file.
12.8 GB is plenty.
20:56
my printer works via USB but over wifi it only prints blank pages
any ideas?
Maybe it ran out of WiFink?

Oh, looks like I don't have (remote) audio since Firefox 57 (on W10).
And I don't seem to be alone in this: bugs.archlinux.org/task/56327
any audio. Or just audio in FF?
FF, opening a random mp3 on the internet within the browser, or a YT video.
Opening the same YT video in Chrome goes just fine.

Reason for closing: Not a bug
I'm not around my computer, so I'm going to assume audio from FF on the computer itself should work.
And that it's just remote audio over mstsc that regressed due to audio changes.
Yeah, looked into that further. Firefox 52 dropped ALSA support. So that turns out irrelevant.
Yeah, that was it. FIXED! :-o
Going from level 2 to 3 they go from INTERACTIVE to RESTRICTED as well as add MITIGATION_EXTENSION_POINT_DISABLE; in detail that first change restricts clipboard, handles and global atoms, and I suppose the remote mstsc audio playback is done through a handle.
22:19
@CoderCat I have an idea in my mind and it is printers are EVIL.

I was going to suggest these: us.creative.com/p/speakers/gigaworks-t3

Oo. Dragging a corner dosen't work?

I'm intrigued...
I can't drag it to full screen ...
