I disagree with the point about Wireless charging

Honestly, I don't care at all about wireless charging.

I mean, IDK what it is with people who go like "BURR I'LL LEAVE MY PHONE HALF CHARGED CUZ PLUGGING IN CABLE IS TOO MUCH EFFORT BURR"

It takes like maybe 6 seconds to plug it in

I agree with @rahuldottech about wireless charging being useless, but remember, this isn't something Apple invented -- the whole industry has been pushing that. If you don't like it, blame Samsung, Motorola, HTC, LG, Google, and the industry alliance behind Qi. Apple is just late to the game.

The fast charging on a MacBook Pro charger is quite amazing though... I really like it.

@rahuldottech without watching the video, though, Apple made the iPhone 8 because they have an amazing new SoC/GPU to show off just how much they dominate the mobile computing industry in terms of raw performance :P And because they have a few new features that are "nice to have" and regular upgraders going from a 5s or 6 to the 8 will be delighted.

Also the new tech in the iPhone X won't be practical to produce in the volume needed for all of Apple's customers until next year at the earliest

they just won't have enough capacity on the lines that are chunking out iPhone Xs

@allquixotic The point being made in the video is that iPhone 8 won't have the "OH LOOK LATEST iPHONE" craze about it because it's literally almost identical in design to every iPhone since 2014, and iPhone X is the new novelty thing

So while it's a brilliant phone, investing in it seems kinda stupid because the "HURR LOOK BEST iPHONE" thing which so many Apple users are crazy about won't be present

I really only buy updated Apple products when the use cases I'm using them for are showing significant problems or limitations, or I am specifically very interested in new features offered on the next model

I have a 2016 13" MBP with Touch Bar and am not tempted to upgrade to the 2017 model because it's literally the same damn computer; zero new features, and the GPU is maybe 5 or 10% faster, which is not even worth considering at the low performance levels of an Intel Iris anyway

the iPhone 8 Plus has a true tone display, a better camera, is grippier and thus I might use it without a case long term (the iPhone 7 Plus is a fucking oily fish, you can drop it by accident so? easily)

and it's fast and more power efficient than its predecessor

there are plenty of features I do care about that made me upgrade, but the iPhone X offers nothing above and beyond that that I care about

mobile games are the other reason I got the 8 Plus -- I have a feeling that "AAA" games might start being a thing on mobile; at least in terms of their system requirements... they might have games soon that have to run at low detail on anything less than an iPhone 7, and might have special eye candy only available on the 8/X

I want to try something else first before I do that. Most of my devices at home connect to the 5GHz band, and that is the only band I'm experiencing this issue. I'll take all my devices off the wifi network and connect only my laptop and see if it still has disconnects.
