I think what he means is it sounds like the output of Flack overstow
Woah. 300% guys!
Like, you'll be CPU'ing at 3 times the speed of sound!
Also, I learned today that, when you put two NVMe drives into a RAID0, it's actually performing at the speed of light
No joke
These are truly marvelous times
@JourneymanGeek no idea why he pinged me though:-)
so stupid question, third week trying to solve my upnp problem. Have this switch I bought. It only seems to work if I hook it to my open-wrt router which dishes out a dhcp address (192.178.x.x) whatever address. Is it unrealistic to connect it to my modem, which has what appears to be dhcp capabilities and then assign my router the local subset? In other words I want to bypass my router but only for a couple devices (non-attackable)
The switch in its current configuration offers out addresses in the same subnet on behalf of the router (so does my extended configured as an access point) so everything is on the same subnet. But I was unable to locate the switch, when I connected the Cisco modem and connected the Internet port to the modem and connected my pc to one of the LAN devices
But it's current configuration doesn't get around my blocked ports, lol
And port forwarding refuses to work on open-wrt (tried many times and wouldn't cause my Windows Xbox app not working) out of ideas :-(
00:32
@Ramhound throw the xbox in a DMZ?
01:04
Tried, that just involves firewall forwarding all ports to one location on open-wrt but I can't get forwarding to work at all. It's possible my configuration is wrong, but something like, cantouseeme doesn't even work when I load up utorrent (with not torrents) but simplest program to use (already installed)
Was actually trying to do that with the switch :-$
But if the switch only works behind my firewall that doesn't help :-$

@allquixotic those are incredibly noisy
if you can, a proper split system is best
Oh hey, Microsoft made a thing to convert MBR disks to GPT without breaking anything
It might even work on the disk you're currently booted into? Unclear
01:59
Holly 🐮
Well Microsoft is going to convert people to GPT eventually.... or require it they don't make a tool like that without a plan
Figures
I had a 3TB MBR for years wanted GPT for that entire time, difficult or risky, that tool would have been nixe.
Can't decide between going to F&F or waiting till tomorrow :$ no work tomorrow (yeah me)
Does the t420 thinkpads suppprt sata 3 6gb sec in the hard drive bay?
Ping me thanks. Found conflicting stuff on google
@William probably
How would I test it
Because I have a t420 and a sata 3 ssd in it
See what speccy says what revision of SATA is being used
or look up the specifications of the laptop
Or do a benchmark
02:14
Testing it sounds easier lol black magic is what they use right?
I could probably look at what year did sata 3 become mainstream wouldn't be perfect but would be a himt
@William anything newer than Sandy bridge should support it.
02:32
Or run a program and it tells you in less than 5 seconds
😜
Yeah my laptop just died on phone. Will check when I a find place to charge
02:46
Score!
"That's the reason why I asked you to describe your scenario. Consoles like Xbox & Playstation are not working with IGDv2 and you will need to compile miniupnpd without IGDv2 support."
Figured out why upnp isn't working :-)
quack
@William actually. did you try googling it? forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/…
Yeah I saw something like that I'm assuming it is until I test it
When reading from an SSH session using PuTTY (plink), I keep seeing the escape code ESC]0;. Does anyone here know what that means? I could understand an opening bracket, but have never seen a closing one used in an escape sequence.
@WasabiFan I have no idea, but that smells like something for the main site.
OK, thanks for the sanity check; it seemed like it might be something obvious that I'm just too oblivious to understand.
I have a suspicion that it's a code for setting the title, but can't find any reference for it :(
02:59
or some odd codespace thing, which often happens with putty and windows.
@WasabiFan you could use windows subsystem for Linux if on w10 if you want it to disappear
Haha, rubber ducky method FTW :D tldp.org/HOWTO/Xterm-Title-3.html
assuming he's on windows 10, and that's a lot better on creator
lol
@WasabiFan that's what I actually Hope happens for people asking questions in here ;)
@William I'm trying to stream from the session for an app I am writing, so I wanted to understand it to make sure I wasn't blindly deleting content. It looks like I need to kill things between that escape code and BEL.
though
he has a point...
why plink?
03:03
I am writing a script (in Node.js) in which I want to sustain an SSH connection and expose the terminal to a user. Plink seemed the best option for Windows.
03:18
Node is aweosme imo
I want to create a node shell at some point

Q: UK ISP where ADSL username is not required?

David BWhen changing ISPs in the UK, and probably many other countries, you can typically leave your existing router in place as long as you can log into it and change the ADSL username and password (the one that gets sent to the DSLAM). Many people are not confident with doing that and so order a new ...

what is this cultural phenomenon? is it just laziness? wanting others to do your thinking for you? this question hits the PhantomJS mailing list; subject: "How to read the phantomjs source code?"

> Hi,

Things like QString, QVariant, QMap...they aren't native to c++. So what sort of framework or library is used here?

- Arun
lol
@allquixotic vaguely cultural
12:13
there's the follow-up question; now tell me, @JourneymanGeek, I know you're not a programmer, but what would you do if you want to know what QString, QVariant or QMap is from, as far as "framework or library"?
Its... complicated
might you.... I don't know.... google it?
@allquixotic fucking google it.
DING DING DING!!!! WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!!
What's Google??
12:13
Actually these guys probably have no idea how to synthesise an answer from multiple sources too
All the review queues are empty!
\o/
@allquixotic a lot of these guys arn't programmers cause they love coding
they're programmers cause its a respectable profession
they're rapidly helping to ensure it's not
and chances are many of them mugged their way through the sort of outdated education that @Rahul2001 and others complain about ;p
@allquixotic kinda sorta
its probably made worse by multiple factors
and there's enough good rockstar devs that most people see those and not the sweatshop crowds

@djsmiley2k I just had to find something of yours to upvote
@djsmiley2k You keep filling up the Suggested Edit queue!!! :)
@Twisty You say "filling up", I say "Helping me get to Steward" :P

That's a much better perspective
@Twisty No he doesn't - all the review queues are empty for the first time in living memory :)

@djsmiley2k Yeah, filling up might be an overstatement. I'll miss seeing your edits in the queue. But now I'll see your avatar in the recent reviews list. That'll be good.
@Twisty you'll still see them i believe?
Only mods skip the queue, or so I'm told.
@djsmiley2k Not sure what you mean? See what?
ok wtf
this printer had 2 jobs on it (not the queue, on the actual device) showing 'deleting'
