^^^ Do you know any tool similar to the Pop Scanner? Select some region in the picture and get straightened it.
@PaulVargas Google have an app for that.
@PaulVargas for a windows PC?
Bob
Bob
So, I finally decided to take a look at the nominations page.
And the first three I saw are... lacking
@Bob no actually amusing joke candidates tho
23:02
@JourneymanGeek Oh you want a joke candidacy?
@JourneymanGeek Windows 10 or Ubuntu.
@MichaelFrank Do you remerber the link?
@PaulVargas paint.net has a tool to do it manually
But it's an android app, so maybe not so useful?
And I'm completely missing your requirement. :<
Bob
Bob
> To tell you the truth, SQL upsets me far more than any user ever has.
*votes for @BenN*
Thanks :)
(whether serious or not, heh)
23:04
As stated before, it's quite apparent that I'm not quite qualified for the diamond ._.
Also, woah, I had no idea Paint.NET could do straightening conveniently
How do I go about that?
@DavidPostill Camera flicker caused by RF interference
@JourneymanGeek So my candidate score is 4th out of 8 nominations. o.O
@JourneymanGeek What statement was your response to?
23:06
@PaulVargas yup
@Ramhound the headsmack button
Bob
Bob
@MichaelFrank There's an app for that.
Ahhh, Ok :-)
Bob
Bob
(Well, a data.SE query, but close enough.)
Yea, there's also an easy way, which I did. :P
Bob
Bob
@BenN tbh, I'm still waffling between you and David, but there's still time to decide :P
That's okay, I already nominated myself to find out.
@JourneymanGeek Thank you!
I also hit exactly the required amount of characters required to have a valid nomination.
@MichaelFrank Could be useful in some situations. :D
Bob
Bob
Hm. I'm apparently 33, despite barely touching main...
23:10
@PaulVargas yea, it's actually a really useful app.
Bob
Bob
lol. I've actually got the full set of participation badges... just lacking a bit in mod and editing
@JourneymanGeek Woah, that's really cool, I completely missed that
Bob
Bob
The one badge @BenN and @DavidPostill lack is " Constituent
Vote for a candidate in the final phase of an election "
well, that's convenient!
Bob
Bob
23:11
By the end of this election, you two can have your new badge! Your score's going up!
Very, very suspicious 🤡
That's their last badge 🤠🤡😛👻
@Bob I'm only missing it because the last election was before I joined SU :)
Bob
Bob
23:14
@DavidPostill wait, was it?
I thought you missed being elected in the last one... came 3rd, with 2 mod seats open?
@Bob April/May 2014
welp
2nd of 8 in the quiz
we lost on the tie breaker
Bob
Bob
Wait no. That was someone else.
Everyone vote CausingUnderFlowsEveryWhere for moderator! Do it now.
23:15
@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere Yep. Powershell is not your enemy. :)
@Bob that was draco
Bob
Bob
@Burgi quiz? whazat?
@JourneymanGeek Was it? I'd forgotten the election entirely -_-
Bob
Bob
Hm. Doesn't seem to be a way to check short of manually running the STV algo
@Bob That's almost as bad as the couple of people who think I'm already a mod ;p
Bob
Bob
23:16
Damn this shitty memory :P
@DavidPostill You do have a slanty name.
Bob
Bob
@DavidPostill Well, technically, you are a mod
(just as everyone else is, after a fashion)
@Bob Here's an online summary
@MichaelFrank That's a room owner. I'm aiming for a blue name :)
@BenN OPA? What are you, some kind of belter sympathiser?
23:18
@Bob we do a pub quiz every tuesday
@DavidPostill Yea, I know. I was commenting on how people think you're already a mod, and may not realise slanty-name != mod.
@MichaelFrank there is a tool thing you can use to work out your candidacy score...
@Burgi Yes, I've been told! But that was after I nominated myself.
i think my score is broadly similar
what is this infinity fabric? I want watermelon
23:24
@music2myear i'm so glad you are standing in the election
Ben is a mod? Congratulations Ben
@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere On a different site, but yes; and thanks! :)
JMG do you really get a hat or are you joking
@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere there's a literal mod hat
23:27
pics or it never happened
@Burgi look at my ava.
i didn't realise that was an SE/SU hat
where is the crazy candidate?
Its a mod hat
You need to forge your own mod hammer though
@MichaelFrank ?
@JourneymanGeek in the fires of mount doom?
23:32
@allquixotic You should get a comment reply on the main site about it.
@Burgi presumably. I just bought a rubber hammer from daiso and stuck an SU sticker on it.
heh
Vulcanised Rubber!
forged in the fires of some cheap chinese factory
@MichaelFrank just looks like you're using the wrong mount command
what block devices does gparted show? and what filesystem does it think they are?
@JourneymanGeek wait I didnt get to see it :(
23:34
trying to mount a block device that doesn't exist won't work, obviously
@allquixotic Eh, I did use the right command, I just couldn't remember exactly what I type over the weekend.
I narrowly lost to Mokubai in the last election.
@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere ITS RIGHT THERE!
!!/tell 36043930 powershell
...bot's down.
23:35
LMAO IS DOESNT LOAD ON MY SCREEN ALL I SEE IS NO AVATAR and right clicking yields no image information
This seems like an excellent time to unleash the PowerShell bot
@MichaelFrank try hfs.fsck on it then
!!info
Happy PI day, what's left of it west of the Atlantic anyway.
@allquixotic I'll give it a shot when I'm at home. Thanks.
Oh, allq is on it, never mind about the emergency PS bot :)
23:36
please fix your avatar @JourneymanGeek <td style="width: 128px; text-align: center; vertical-align: top;">

</td>
!!info
@allquixotic I awoke on Tue, 14 Mar 2017 23:36:31 GMT (that's about 8 seconds ago), haven't done anything yet!
23:36
!!cats
@MichaelFrank That didn't make much sense. Maybe you meant: cat, ncats
Yep, it's working. Telling me I got the command wrong... again.
There we go.
Any idea what went wrong, @allq?
@bwDraco same as usual
the cron script isn't installed / working so it doesn't auto reboot itself, and eventually phantomjs fucks up and hangs
or the websocket ... socket gets dropped
@Burgi aw, thanks @Burgi.
23:38
lol @ "phantomjs fucks up and hangs"
Yep. Powershell is not your enemy. :) ?
Bob
Bob
@allquixotic I was just about to s/same as usual/phantoms/ :P
@GypsySpellweaver bad news, pi doesn't start with 14
Bob
Bob
@allquixotic if the websocket drops, bot IO is supposed to switch to polling
@Burgi 3/14
23:38
@Bob and every time this happens we say we should switch to jbrowserdriver
@music2myear you just need to fill out the questionaire
cause month/day/year makes all the sense in the world.
Bob
Bob
that's Zirak code and I assume it works but I never did test to find out
since your webdriver.io script can work with any selenium driver, and jbrowserdriver is (AFAIK) headless
@MichaelFrank only in crazy land
Bob
Bob
23:39
@allquixotic And then realise it's probably still dependent on xvfb -_-
@allquixotic that reminds me I need to update that script
I don't think so...? lemme check
it's truly headless, but doesn't support websockets
Bob
Bob
@allquixotic Hm. Apparently not
Bob
Bob
Yea, still outdated. Because webkit and oracle.
> But that seems like a lot of work and if latest Chrome compatibility is really needed I'd personally just use ChromeDriver via Xvfb on Linux.
Hey.... today is my 1000th day visiting SU! :D
23:41
so phantomjs is dependent on annulen to update the unmaintained QtWebkit, and jBrowserDriver is dependent on Oracle to update the webkit in Oracle JDK
both solutions suck
Bob
Bob
@allquixotic I'm really thinking Xvfb is just unavoidable for anything resembling modern
@Burgi yea. I planned to do that last night but was setting up my new Xbones and watching Tom.
TSM.
I'll try to get to it tonight.
@Bob not once headless chromium is a reality!
23:43
@music2myear awesomes and good luck!
whoa wtf
I started typing "chromium nightly" into the google search and the page dropped down and was like "You're speaking our language!" then went away
creepy
@allquixotic That's Google's recruiting thing.
LOL. so Google thinks it wants to recruit me eh
but not enough, apparently, because it went away
@allquixotic thats because your next words were "... is terrible"
23:46
Google: we watch you every move because we want you in our Borger!
Bob
Bob
@allquixotic Or headless firefox, apparently
Darn autocorrect.
Bob
Bob
> One of the first steps towards this will be to support a headless mode in Firefox that can run slimer.js on linux without an X server.
@allquixotic You might be able to start a pre-interview challenge. Your Google account should now be eligible for google.com/foobar. fortune.com/2015/08/27/…
Bob
Bob
> binaries are already being built and distributed, and this will hopefully align with work Chrome is doing (making cross browser testing easier)
waitwaitWAIT. Already being build and distributed?!
23:47
@Bob ... Chromium nightly on Linux supposedly supports it already
Bob
Bob
> - I haven't got full Firefox running in headless mode yet, I've been focusing on slimerjs (which works).
And SlimerJS has a PhantomJS-compatible API
hmmmmmm.
bedtime!
nn
screw "PhantomJS-compatible"; all I want is Selenium webdriver support
Bob
Bob
@allquixotic Yea, just thought it'd be an easy way
assuming it supports GhostDriver
well yeah, we'd want to use ghostdriver
Bob
Bob
23:49
But the ff side only started a month ago
so chromium is probably more complete
but they have a custom API
so probably no webdriver support yet
> I think having Marionette built-in helps shortcut a lot of the issues around embedding that previous efforts hit, since you ought to be able to just run a headless instance and drive it via Marionette.
the headless readme says selenium
Bob
Bob
IIRC Marionette was the Firefox webdriver
@allquixotic oh? damn, I missed that
yeah marionette is the webdriver server
Bob
Bob
oh, I was looking at the Node.js bit
skipped the remote debugging protocol section -_-
I really wish I could help, but I know next to nothing about this stuff :(
23:51
firefoxdriver for firefox 47 and older; marionette (now FirefoxDriver) for FF 48+
Bob
Bob
> Yeah, I've been following some of their progress. It looks like they also plan support webdriver, so in the future it may be much easier to write cross browser headless tests.
that comment was 12 days ago
So folks, should I get back to learning JS, or brush up on C++ in preparation for a job?
Bob
Bob
plan to? does webdriver support not exist in chromium headless yet?
@Bob I wonder if ChromeDriver will work headless
(Serious question.)
23:52
the TCP connection routing for normal "headed" Chrom(ium,e) goes: webdriver client -> chromedriver -> chrome
I believe chromedriver forks and execs chrome, so maybe just get it to pass the --headless flag
Bob
Bob
hm
yea as of 4 days ago the firefox headless mode is just a (working?) patch, but not in nightlies yet
chromium's probably the easier choice if webdriver works
or just wait another few months for one of them to stabilise more :P
ah, it's using Offscreen Mesa (libosmesa)
Bob
Bob
bug1338004.bmoattachments.org/attachment.cgi?id=8846112 the patch is ... smaller than expected
would be cool if that uses llvmpipe
@allquixotic Software renderer? Yuck.
(server has no GPU, though)
23:54
@bwDraco ....... it's a server lol
llvmpipe is surprisingly capable though
for web workloads at lowish resolutions (nothing more than say 1080p) it's great
just... don't run it on any WebGL workloads
Yeah. I've run semi-intensive graphical apps on my cloud desktop using llvmpipe and it's about as good as a modern IGP when given a fast CPU.
Bob
Bob
@allquixotic you could actually chuck Cavil on it directly and it ... should work? :P
> @brendandahl Awesome! It works with the latest release of SlimerJS, 0.10.3!! (after changing the max version to 54.* into application.ini)

export DISPLAY=77
export MOZ_HEADLESS=1
export SLIMERJSLAUNCHER=/home/laurent/tmp/fxheadless/firefox
slimerjs test.js
SlimerJS has a --webdriver
@Bob login?
23:57
hey @JourneymanGeek I just came back because you made a typo in your comments for every person who nominated themselves "

You might want to fill in the the questionnaire" you put the twice, looks like you've developed a stutter :(
Bob
Bob
@allquixotic hm?
I copy pasted those ;p
@Bob login piece has to be automated, I don't want to manually login
Bob
Bob
oh, I mean you could swap out s/phantomjs/slimerjs/
Bob
Bob
23:58
but yea next month it should be more reliable :P
we're getting close to webdriver heaven; once this goes into chrome stable and ff stable... this will have a huge impact on my work
headless linux box with jenkins CI/CD with tests using selenium, no need for Xvfb or anything
