11:00 PM
Optical Image Stabilisation

ooooh this SATA drive is making weird clicks

@Burgi Maybe it thinks it's a clock. ha

lol
@MichaelFrank it was a crap phone
low light and i was a bit upset
CIV1 save games

Dog
@Bob Just make sure it's Dog® Brand

Fair enough. Was it burnt? or recovered from a lake?

11:02 PM
burnt
and trashed

Dog
@Burgi So you must be at least nearly the same age as me if not older

i'm 33

Bob
@Dog Does that mean less scratches or more? :P

Dog
Morning Bob
I want ice cream
Seems like everyone uses Ruckus wireless around here.

ohhh no it's getting windows ready :(

Bob
11:03 PM
@Dog 'ello
I want ice cream too. But I can't have it :(

Dog
Hilton, Carlton, Radisson, and Jury's Inn all using Ruckus

Bob
@Dog Is that good or bad?
Never heard of them o.O

Dog
TBH if I had to choose, for SMB wireless Ruckus and Meraki are among the best

Bob
ah

@DavidPostill Well if someone's asking if I'm 16, @Burgi I feel you weren't really asking my age but implying I'm acting childish or something

Dog
11:05 PM
@Bob They're fairly small. They basically pioneered beamforming before it became part of the 802.11 standards, and still do the best job of it today

Bob
@Dog Ooh, nice

Dog
Extricom has a superb innovative product, except the one encounter I had with it, the hotel room I was in happened to have a dodgy AP. So bleh.

@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere shrug i never implyed anything, you leapt to an assumption

I sure did well Im 20

right this drive is knackered

11:08 PM
Well windows is stuck on getting windows ready. time to do another CLEAN install and this time NOT choose restart in the start menu..

why not just leave it a short while

good idea Ill enjoy my dinner

Bob

Q: Why use a kettle to heat water?

DavidWhenever I need to heat up water for a French press or hot chocolate, I do it in the microwave. Is there a good reason to use a kettle instead of the microwave to heat water?

Dog

@Bob uhhhhhhhh

Bob
11:09 PM
My first thought: "wait, how else do you heat water?"
Second thought: "microwave?!?!"
dammit, Americans...

... uhhh @Dog? wht does p and bbc stand for?

Dog
@Bob: ^^ That's my ping via a wireless repeater to a Ruckus AP in the hotel across the road from the other side of the building, through four or five walls, on a highly congested 2.4Ghz channel

@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere big black... car?

Dog
@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere p is a script to do ping -t -w 1000
bbc = bbc.co.uk.
I have aliased at bbc.qasdfdsaq.com

212.58.246.94 is from United Kingdom (UK) in region Western Europe
Input: 212.58.246.94
canonical name: bbc-vip015.cwwtf.bbc.co.uk
Registered Domain: bbc.co.uk

Bob
11:11 PM
@Dog nice

Dog
Because they use DNS load balancing this way I get a consistent ping target over time.

Bob
I should show you the ping to the AP at work sometime :P
@Dog I thought ping only resolved the domain name once at the beginning
Though anycast routing could mess that up too

Dog
That's what it looked like on the Draytek APs at my last place while sitting one room away >_<
@Bob It does

GUYS I JUST FOUND SOMETHING IN WINDOWS 10 THAT IS AMAZZZZZZZING OH MY GOODNESS THEY HAVE THE WINDOWS XP STYLE UPDATES AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Dog
I mean if I pinged on one connection, switched to another, then tried the same test, etc.

11:17 PM
o.O

Bob
@Dog ohhh

Dog
Or one day to the next, or different machines, etc.

Dog
(Also if I'm pinging from abroad and don't want an anycasted local address)
!!facepalm
Oh god no bot
MY LIFE IS RUINED

these drives are making weird noises

Dog
11:18 PM
@Burgi Another advantage of SSDs!

Dog
The only noise they make is a slight squealing and a tsssssssss as they explode

Good morning(?) JMG!

Dog
Bob is up hours before JMG :-o

Morning.

11:19 PM
that one sounded like a machinegun

good morning journeyman :)

@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere y'know, the size of the language name is still visible there

Dog
Oh god this hostel is still on some ancient BTW ADSLMax product that gets throttled to 50% or less at peak times
BT removed throttling on all new packages like 4 years ago

yeah right, you'd have to make a wild estimate! then research all the sizes until you find the right one ;)

@arda Not really, just the amount currently downloaded.

11:21 PM
or install them one by one until one of them matches the bar in the same location with the size

@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere Why have you censored your image?

if you want to know that bad what language I installed then feel free :D

@MichaelFrank no, size as in the pixel size of language name

Dog
@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere Err you know the progress bar shows... y'know, progress

@DavidPostill oh I don't know, issues.

Dog
11:22 PM
Also we saw the first picture
Also what are you trying to hide

well people who lurk here in 10 years wont see it unless you ... you know say it out loud now :/
Im guilty!

Bob
@Dog Why change what [doesn't] works?

Dog
@Bob Er... well for one it used to throttle as low as 256Kbps
Though it seems to be "only" down to 5Mbps today
Last place I stayed (which gets terrible reviews) had a 200Mbps connection

Bob
@Dog yea, was joking about businesses not wanting to change things

Dog
5Mbps between a hostel full of younguns with their tech gear, reminds me of the days back at school when we had to share 64Kbps between a dozen schoolkids

11:26 PM
@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere Meh, I won't dig up your language because tbh it wouldn't help me in any way, but if you want to keep your languge secret, just don't post the language install box.

actually it's not my language it's the language of my client. I dont have windows 10 :P

@Dog Can you not?
Blaming people won't get us anywhere.

Dog

@Dog I approve this.

Dog
@arda lol

11:31 PM
i saw the cute kiwi one earlier

Dog
Aww

formatting through the disk manager doesn't give a progress bar...

Dog
@Burgi Yup. Though it does sometimes show progress in percent as text, depending on its mood

@Dog Kiwis are the best. But they're kinda dumb.

Dog
Should I go get ice cream? I've already over eaten today. But Ice cream!
@MichaelFrank I thought kiwi was a fruit
And a slang term for a New Zealander
I didn't know it was a bird
@MichaelFrank Turns out most cute things are kinda dumb
Eww this is terrible

11:37 PM
grim

oddly, the fruit isn't from new zealand

@Dog including cats roleplaying dogs on the internet?
@JourneymanGeek wait... what?

Its from china!

Dog
@Burgi Are you calling me cute or dumb?
JmG is the one roleplaying a dog

JMG is a dog
not a cat roleplaying a dog

11:42 PM
I'm certainly not a cat >_>

Dog

@Dog It's called a Kiwi everywhere except where it's a Chinese Gooseberry. We call the fruit a Kiwifruit.

Dog
Heh

hey guys im back!

Oh good, we'll call off search and rescue.

i think this drive is buggered

@Dog didn't you post a comment saying that's a progress bar somewhere?
it is a beautiful progress bar. (gleaming)

Dog
Urgh is it weird just about every OS has built in multiple clipboard functionality except Windows

@MichaelFrank Thanks for the warm welcome! :)

Dog

11:51 PM
@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere i'm not 100% sure but i think your maths is off a little

come on dog we've seen all these before

Dog
Then again just about every OS had built in multiple desktop functionality before Windows

@Burgi you might be right because 68 is no where near the amount it should be haha

Dog

where's the ignore button?

11:52 PM

LOL

always knew JMG was a hacker, thats why I remove PII's from my screenshots.

oh crap

oh I was grabbing a bite of my food I didnt see that xD
must be a bad insult

11:55 PM
Naw just had some things non mods cannot see

please dont click that :(
ohhh haha

@Dog ahh, that one

can I see it?
oh wait no
what can you see? my email?

donno, Its not a number you want incremented

11:56 PM
naw, how many times you got chat suspended

Dog
My number is higher than his number I bet

no way Dog you're so famous here, and everyone loves you theres no way you got suspended

@Dog nothing to be proud about
@CausingUnderflowsEverywhere @Dog tends to push the limits. Sometimes of good taste.

Dog
@JourneymanGeek bullshirt

11:58 PM
first you win against be for being dumber, now you think you can beat me at chat suspensions?!

That said on good days they're a decent contributor to chat.

@Dog MS has had multi-item clipboards for a while... but only with an installation of MS Office.

Dog
@MichaelFrank Yeah, I knew Office had its own clipboard... wait, for a while? They removed it? :-o

@MichaelFrank actually if I open word 2002 it lists multiple items on the clipboard and I remember an addon for it, well if you mean by for a while as in in that version only, maybe

Dog
Ah crud, supermarkets closed. Where am I going to get ice cream now :-(

11:59 PM
Don't garages sell ice cream?

lets get JMG to ship us some
see told you he knows all the locations

@Dog I can't seem to find it in 2013 at least.
