@Hennes try cmd shell using net use Z: \\10.2
and see if that works
(not sure)
C:\Users\hennes>net use z: \\10.2
System error 53 has occurred.

The network path was not found.
ah
maybe its treating it as a netbios name
instead of an ip
u could confirm if u run a packet sniffer
One of the few times I get to be lazy with IP v4 and it ddid not work. I had to vent about that.
Any free phone number forwarding service out there from US to outside?
net use Z: \\10.2\sharename
net use Z: \\10.2\C$ lols
check this out cmd.exe... dir \\127.1\c$ vs dir \\127.0.0.1\c$
has to be treating it as a netbios name

Greetings
Is it OK to have a click counted with the bitlink as soon as you paste it in the yahoomail text window (before sending the link)?
@I'manartist .... What?
@allquixotic If you wanna talk to me, first greet me, and then if there is something you don't understand, try to be more specific. If that is too hard for you just ignore my text.
@I'manartist That's an incredibly effective way of not getting help.
20:02
@I'manartist Please give more context before asking a question like that. I can't understand what you're trying to do from such a narrow and focused question. There are many difficulties with that question. For starters, "Is it OK" could mean "Is it possible" or "Is it morally/legally/socially acceptable" - that's 4 possible interpretations right there.
Then, "as soon as you paste it" -- who's doing the pasting? Of what? Why does it have to be Yahoo mail specifically? What's the mechanism for this counting?
And most importantly, what is the high level goal you are trying to accomplish, if you were to explain it to someone completely unfamiliar with what you do?
@allquixotic The logic is pretty simple: you create a bitlink that has 0 clicks, and as soon as you paste that link in the yahoo mail text window, and then check again the number of clicks on bitly, you notice that link has a click counted. I wonder if this is a standard, although it seems strange to me.
I suspect my email could be hacked (I was trying to develop a strategy to see if this is true).
@I'manartist To me that sounds like Yahoo's servers are probably performing an anti-malware / anti-virus scan on the site behind the link (in order to decide whether to block it or not) by automatically scanning the link when you paste it into your message. That would trigger an HTTP GET on the link, and Bit.ly would be unable to distinguish between a bot scanning and a person clicking.
There's no such thing as a perfect click counter that can exactly spot real human clicks and only human clicks (and no bots / automated services). A better one would require the user to enter a CAPTCHA before it counts them as a click, but that's still got its own set of problems.
@allquixotic OK, I hope this is the reason.
@allquixotic Thanks for the answer. I appreciate that.
It's either that, or your browser is performing URL prefetch.
The default on Chrome at least is to automatically perform a prefetch on any URLs it sees on a page, to reduce page load times (it downloads the resources in the background, so when you actually click it, it just loads the data from disk, instead of going out to the network at that time).
So in theory the extraneous "click" could be you.
I use Firefox, and rarely Chrome.
20:12
FF does prefetch too but I can't recall if it's the default
looks like it's on by default now
it's a performance optimization, but it can have implications for services like this that modify persistent state upon HTTP GET requests
@ThatBrazilianGuy They are Fennec Fox kits

How do you set env variabes for a node program?
@Solver From within a node program, or for a node program (that is, to be available on startup)?
that's really sad
@For a node program
@Solver The same way you'd set them for any other program. Node isn't special; it doesn't receive environment variables in any different way than other programs.
Okay. Thanks.
If you want to set an environment variable so that Node will see it, then you need to set the environment variable, doing whatever is required on your platform to do that.
Which would boil down to a much more generic question of "How do I set an environment variable on <my exact platform>" if you don't know how to do that.
21:16
I do.
It's just that I thought that since Node can't be run straight through an exe, you have to use oi
other methods to run a js
22:15
!!/ping
Chatbot's not running.
Bob
Bob
@bwDraco Of course not.
I already said it'd take some time -_-
@qasdfdsaq What didn't you like about the S5?
@allquixotic It only does prefetch on links that specifically request it.
22:38
@Bob It's too big for me to use comfortably with one hand, the fingerprint sensor is sucky, and charging requires either fiddling with a rubber flap or a clunky wireless cover
Bob
Bob
@qasdfdsaq Hm... the S7 isn't significantly smaller..?
It's maybe 3mm narrower.
And a bit thinner but that has nothing to do with one-handed reach.
I dunno about fingerprint sensors or charging flaps :P
@allquixotic AFAICT Chrome does the same.
@Bob The S4 was the biggest phone I could comfortably use. The S5 was too big. The S7 is not only smaller than the S5 and the S4, the additional curving on the back supposedly makes it feel more comfortable in the hand.
Bob
Bob
@qasdfdsaq Ah... the G4 is comparatively giant, but I actually find it more comfortable than the S4.
Love the curve :D
Occasional reach issues on the upper left corner, but that's rare.
I prefer smaller phones than most flagships. I got the Z3 compact a while back because I specifically wanted flagship performance in a <5" device
Bob
Bob
Ah. I spend a lot of time reading on my phone, so larger screen for me - as long as it's still pocket size.
5.5" is probably about as big as I'll go. Maaaaaybe 6" with no bezel.
22:48
Reading is about 80% of what I do on my phone, but smaller still ends up being fine, as long as the resolution is decent, and my eyesight is OK
>5" is basically the point where the size starts becoming problematic for me.
Course, if Android's menu buttons were still at the bottom of the screen instead of the top left, this would all be a non issue -_-
I have small hands :-/
I also have a small head, which made the Oculus Rift problematic. And probably small brain, but it's not the size that matters, it's how you use it, right?
Bob
Bob
@qasdfdsaq Most let you swipe from the left :P
And Firefox puts it at the top right too.
Top is stupid either way IMO
Same goes for on-screen buttons IMO
Bob
Bob
@qasdfdsaq Depends how often you use the menu. If it's expected to be rare, it makes sense to put it somewhat out of the way and use the best space for more useful content.
That's the problem. The top of the screen is basically blocking the most useful part of the screen. As far as text and reading goes, it's as in-the-way as you can get, short of slap down the middle of the screen.
At the bottom, over the area usually covered by your fingers anyway, it's not using space that could be useful for... actual text
Bob
Bob
Hm. Good point.

I have just been restarted! This happens daily automatically, or when my owner restarts me. Ready for commands.
Hi ChatBot

I'm still fiddling, maaaybe done today
it's a pain in the arse trying to get the repl working -_-

actually, I'll disable that startup message for now
Need a Vista 64-bit ISO. Anyone got a legit link to one?

Nup, sorry.
Weird how after I stay up all night, I'm less tired after 40 hours of no sleep than after 20.

@CanadianLuke I think vista didn't get an official ISO release from microsoft (microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/home)
It got dozens of official ISO releases from Microsoft
Anonymous
@qasdfdsaq either I haven't done enough google-fu or they've banished
Of course they've vanished, Vista isn't sold anymore
Anonymous
> Whether you purchased your copy of Windows Vista direct from the Windows Marketplace or it came pre-installed on your machine, the chances are you won’t have a bootable DVD around with clean Vista installation files on it.
Anonymous
> The Marketplace version was available as a “Digital Locker Download” which gave you access to download 3 files, 2 Windows Image Format (WIM) files and an executable. Unlike Windows 7 and 8 which can be downloaded direct from Microsoft as an ordinary ISO file, Vista needs a bit of work to create an ISO image which you can burn and then install from.
23:49
That sucks... Oh well!
Anonymous
@qasdfdsaq but it's still supported until 2017 tho
So this bootable Vista DVD I have doesn't exist then huh
Anonymous
@qasdfdsaq it's all in your head
@CanadianLuke apparently digital river had those but it dosen't work any more
Yea, found out the hard way about DR
23:52
DigitalRiver only had the .exe files
@PatoSáinz Odd, I could swear these pictures look like Vista DVDs other people have... google.co.uk/search?q=vista+dvd&&tbm=isch
Anonymous
@qasdfdsaq it's a conspiracy, like the mod's "shit people" list. Also, that paragraph I quoted said changes were you didn't have one... not that they don't exist.

> Important Note February 2015

The download servers msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net, msft.digitalrivercontent.net and azcdn01.digitalrivercontent.net have been taken down, and all Windows OS downloads have been pulled from the Azure storage.
@PatoSáinz there is no secret list. adds @PatoSáinz to the secret list

@JourneymanGeek wake up, sheeple!
@PatoSáinz So since they do exist, they clearly... do exist. The fact they exist proves Microsoft released them.
23:55
I'll try one last site... I got a good AV to try it out with
Anonymous
@qasdfdsaq yes they do exist
Anonymous
@CanadianLuke you're paranoid... and I think it's cool
So then they did get an official release from Microsoft.
@CanadianLuke I'd much rather try to find a md5 sum and compare
23:56
There's plenty of torrent files with legitimate, unmodified Vista images.
I'm yet to come across a single one that has been tampered in over ten years.

@JourneymanGeek well I found md5 sums but they were on other site. Also, nowadays I thought it was easy to forge hash collisions for md5.
@allquixotic that is correct btw.. or potentially using HEAD to obtain the filesize instead for same purposes.. not sure why they would waste bandwidth. Wonder if HEAD request triggers clicks. (pondering mind)
Forged Vista images with matching MD5 sums? Yeah... right.
Anonymous
@CanadianLuke you could order a replacement DVD... unless you are also paranoid the NSA might tamper with it while shipping.
23:58
unrelatedly...
If you're that paranoid, grab an SHA-1 sum as well. Not even the NSA can forge both on the same disk.
