flash cache is only 1 GB but it may be giving it a boost, even still that's only a 20% hit rate assuming it's an ideal cache, and I have plenty of stuff running on the system at the same time

The last number "freread" for 4M is 2289. Yeah, a lot faster

Trying 15GB to see if the cache is really helping that much

15GB 4M = 211, 202, 2144, 2226, the first four... way slower on the writes now, but still faster on reads (more RAM = more ARC, probably)

starting at "random read" (15GB reclen 4M): 2221, 202, 1868, 2583, 2422

So even for something that's way too big to fit into flash cache, the reads are coming out much faster in general, but the writes are about 20% the speed of the SSD for this large of a transfer

Seems like small bursty writes are probably going to be faster on my system as long as they don't write too much data, because of the flash cache on the RAID controller and hardware RAID offload

And reads, regardless of the situation, seem unconditionally faster

just more RAM I guess? or excellent throughput of the hardware RAID5 controller

frewrite was only 4x slower... but still in the same ballpark of slow compared to the SSDs in software

you can fire up Solaris 11, start X, and ./run anything and it'll just work

With spam, there's little point. If they have a common IP address, they get blocked. If they don't, flagging gets them blocked.
