5:00 PM
@ThatBrazilianGuy Work. I have a 5 day work week, so that's my "week"

@CanadianLuke Me too, but more than 7 days in a week seems a bit imposible

It happens up here lots, and more in the states from what I heard

5:26 PM
@ThatBrazilianGuy I've done a couple of 14 day weeks in the past when we were up against the wall to get customer deliveries out...
logical weeks rather than conventional "real" weeks....

Hi all!

Bob

Not enough moderators, nope

Also, nice gravatar @ThatBrazilianGuy (@allquixotic)

1 hour later…
7:45 PM
@CanadianLuke don't worry; my entire nickname is slanted, as is most of my speech

But it's not spelled out in Italian!

Bob
I need to find the time to read the Windows UX Design Principles sometime.
Looks like a really nice document.

@Bob Read the Apple ones. They're ridiculous

Bob
@CanadianLuke NTY
@CanadianLuke Ridiculous how?

I glanced at it years ago, I just remember it was horrible to try to read and understand
I can't find the exact document anymore... But here's the updated Mac OS App design guide

Bob
8:00 PM
Ok. There's the common built-in, the quite rare inbuilt, and then there's inbuild. wtf is that.

@Bob built-in = your arm, your leg; inbuilt = your brain, your personality; inbuild = your child? ;p
there are tons of cat-er-pillars outside -_-
:(
): ): ): ): ): ): ): ):

Bob
8:19 PM
@allquixotic Are... are you alright?

Anyone tried the multiplayer side of Tomb Raider?

Bob
@Mokubai I have yet to try the single player side :(

@Bob :(

@Bob I found it to be quite enjoyable and a good game, if you can ignore all the "press x to not die" QTEs...

Bob
@Mokubai It's been bouncing around my to-play list for a while.
I still spend a lot of time on CS:GO. KSP recently. Might pick up AoM soon.
So many games, my problem is my inability to pick one to play :S
Heck, I'm considering going back to flash games just because it's so easy. Less set up involved, no issues stopping at any time, and they should run fine on my laptop.

8:23 PM
@Bob Likewise... I had a couple of weeks off a short while ago so I had some time to commit to a game and Tomb Raider was there and waiting for me
@allquixotic Still at work?

Bob
@Mokubai He should be for about another hour, I think.
Is it weird that I know this?

The @slhck shirt arrived! :D

@OliverSalzburg ?
Cool

@Bob Nah, I know he's something like 5-6 hours behind me (iirc) which means it's probably still worky time...

I thought the print would be slightly bigger though :(

8:29 PM
@Bob It's not in the least bit stalker-ish

Seems like they have a standard print area and just put that on whatever size of shirt you order
Those cheap bastards

Bob
@OliverSalzburg Probably just one of those A4 thermal transfer things :P

@Mokubai ya
@Bob extremely

Bob
@allquixotic :(

@Bob :)
!!tell Bob sleep or somesuch
4:33 PM local time = OMG AM Aus time

Bob
8:33 PM
6:30 actually

Didn't someone suggest we only greet people based on UTC time?

Bob
UTC midnight => around 11 AM here
Oh wait, 10 AM now that DST is off

@OliverSalzburg Speaking of T-shirts, I suspect at some point I'm going to have to post a photo of me and my SU t-shirt...
Might have to get some waffles to eat first...

Bob
@Mokubai I'd link to the weebl waffles video, but that's just a tad nsfw :P

@Bob That's fine, I'm at home ;)
Tho the internet here may struggle with streaming video :/

Bob
8:39 PM
@Mokubai weebls-stuff.com/songs/Waffles <= flash version

Woohoo! Downloading at 0.5mbps!
:/

Bob
@Mokubai hm?

Pretty sure it's the Weebl guy

Bob
ya

And it's a good song

Bob
8:43 PM
I didn't know he moved on to this stuff.

@Bob It's not that bad ;D And bigger than A4
@Mokubai It's mandatory
Pants are optional though
4

@CanadianLuke or better yet, in XMLGregorianCalendar format of UTC time: 2010-02-26T10:39:24-06:00

@OliverSalzburg That has a whole different meaning here in the UK... ;)

@Mokubai @OliverSalzburg just wanted to let you know, you know, FYI, in case you wanted to omit pants, he really, really wouldn't mind -- at all

8:47 PM
:D

O_O
I just came upon the realization that maybe that's what moderators do in their spare time
I am now officially never going to run for mod again O_O

I have the power to name you honorary mod. It comes with no-pants privileges
It's really the only privilege though

what kind of privileges are these, exactly? is it the kind of privilege where one can't opt not to exercise these privileges?

Exactly

You'll learn to like them @allquixotic, you'll learn..... ;)

Bob
8:52 PM
o.O

Q: How make java applets to run ALWAYS?

DimsEvery time I meet java applet on some site, I have a problems running it. Either I have outdated JRE or application is blocked message appears. I want to make browser/JRE NEVER check java updates, because they are issued nearly every day. I am not developing nuclear missiles, so I need no so hi...

Recipe for hurt right there!

> I am not developing nuclear missiles
Enough said

@OliverSalzburg Sounds like how @KimJongUn would start a question...

9:56 PM
what is segmentation anyway?
segmentation of what?...
"Intel EM64T CPUs do not have segmentation support in long mode. If the Intel EM64T CPU is VT-capable, it comes with hardware virtualization support (Intel's Virtualization Technology). This hardware virtualization support allows VMware to work around the lack of segmentation, making it possible to run 64-bit guest operating systems on Intel EM64T VT-capable CPUs."
and what is "long mode"?...

I would assume segmentation of memory

ok
i can't see any reference link or anything on that page
where can i read more on this topic?

In the x86-64 computer architecture, long mode is the mode where a 64-bit application (or operating system) can access 64-bit instructions and registers. 32-bit programs and 16-bit protected mode programs are executed in a compatibility sub-mode; real mode or virtual 8086 mode programs cannot run in this mode. Overview An x86-64 processor acts identically as an IA-32 processor when running in real mode or protected mode, which are supported sub-modes when the processor is not in long mode. A bit in the CPUID extended attributes field informs programs in real or protected modes if the pro...

@MichaelFrank tomorrow: "why am I getting random popups? "

11:08 PM
My neighbour knocked on my door complaining about malwares and slowness. I gave her an Ubuntu live CD and a promise of installing it if she likes the experiment.

11:45 PM
if this is a real MITM, it's the worst MITM in the world:

Q: Why 'This Connection is Untrusted' for practically every site on Mozilla Firefox?

user322652This started a couple of months ago and pops up for just about every site, including Google, Macy's, DSW, Outlook.com, etc. These are all regularly visited sites so there should be no problem. There is no problem if I use Chrome or Internet Explorer. Searching for resolution has indicated the pr...

Bob
@allquixotic A lot of people just click through that warning.

@Bob true. do you think it could be a MITM (e.g. on a campus or corporate network) that's very poorly executed, in the hopes that users will be actually dumb enough to click through?

Bob
@ThatBrazilianGuy Congrats, you have just become her personal Ubuntu tech support.
@allquixotic That raises the question of why IE and Chrome don't warn.

(a better approach would be to serve a drive-by download or Flash or Java app when the user requests a regular HTTP site, which they'll do all the time; exploit something, get local user trust, and inject your evil root cert, so they never get the prompts)
at work -- and occasionally at home -- I often use the grc fingerprint website (always accessing it over two separate internet connections) to make sure I'm not being MITMed

Bob
@allquixotic Heh.

11:50 PM
has no one downloaded Dawngate yet? seriously? D:
@Mokubai @Bob @jokerdino D:

Bob
