for that price I'm tempted to get a laptop with a permanently connected keyboard, as I don't need the Windows Desktop when I'm in pure tablet mode, and a Nexus 7 or Nexus 10 is a better tablet than a Surface -- Pro or RT

I didn't actually dislike the speed of the Surface RT machines, for the form factor Win8 (RT or not) is actually quite nice, it just sucks a bit on non-touch devices

honestly, in retrospect, the whole Surface Pro thing seems like it's trying too hard to converge the tablet and desktop, and it ends up a horribly compromised device in the end

the new Nexus 7 plus my beast desktop will really minimize my use cases for a Surface Pro 2, so I'll probably just hang on to my original Surface Pro for things like going on vacations or long road trips

I'm not as mobile of a user as I was when I was in college, though I still yearn for small portable laptop form factor stuff.... weird
