12:34 AM
Ha! I just watched someone hit the out of memory error on 64-bit Excel running on a brand new i7 / 16GB machine.

1 hour later…
1:59 AM
As someone who has an actual mechanical relay in use onn his desk...
cars sound nothing like it

That's probably true. It's just not something I ever noticed.
I just ran a health check on my old old SSD. It has had 100 "Uncorrectable Error Count" events ... and the guide I'm reading says they schedule SSDs for replacement the first time that number goes above 0. I'm wondering if I should start looking for another drive.
Or just use it for OS and other non-critical data only.
I think I'll try and use another disk for a while, see if it stops the issues I've been having.
For some reason my desktop just slowly bricks its Windows installation with a range of random errors on starting. I suspected memory at first, but trying a different disk should be a bit easier to test than replacing the memory.

3:00 AM
@JourneymanGeek Intel (just?) released an IoT/AI dev "neural" compute stick

3:32 AM
@rahuldottech the movidus? Should be second or third generation at this point

4 hours later…
7:27 AM
@JourneymanGeek what's it doing on your desk?

@djsmiley2k part of my remote controlled bias lighting rig

And the relay board was pretty simple to set up, especially since everything is 12v

7:57 AM
morning

8:27 AM
sup @Burgi

8:56 AM
Theresa May due to make an announcement at 10am
so she's going then

hmmm...

who do we think is going to be the new PM?

Pfft
Bojo?
it'd be easy for the Party to put him there
then get rid of him again

the stream is dying
heads up
welp there we go

9:09 AM
She's gone 7th June

wtf is this speech?
is she on glue?
where was all this compromise she's waffling on about?

lol

9:54 AM
i stopped listenin after the first 30sec or so

10:39 AM
so why can't they annouce the results for the EU election until sunday?

It's still happening
I think
In the Europe places

10:56 AM
all of europe, apart from the UK and holland are voting on sunday
the results for the dutch elections are out
hold on to your tinfoil hats
what if the PM knows the results and the tory party has been annihilated
thats why she's resigned today

I thought they don't release results of elections until they're over in case it affects the election
Dewey Defeats Truman and all that

shrugs

11:50 AM
So Modi won the Indian elections yesterday

hum de dum

did you vote?

By a bit of a landslide

@Burgi nup, had to he 18 by April to do so
Anyway so
Idk what to feel about this

11:51 AM
whoop got my £22 from prolific, thanks @bertieb

@djsmiley2k Nice one 👍

On one hand, apparently he actually cared about the country unlike previous PMs

you get what, 5%? 10%?
1%? XD

But on the other, he's also notorious for discriminating against minorities and Muslims, and trying to take away their voting rights

half tempted to buy £20 of bitcoin :D

11:52 AM
He's basically the sort who is a proponent of India being a Hindu country, rather than a secular one.
This is an important distinction. But like his only opponent is also a goddamned joke, so this was expected
Thoughts, @JourneymanGeek?
Sorry for typos, on mobile

There was a bit of chat on Matrix about this yesterday

@rahuldottech better on matrix

1 hour later…
1:26 PM

Q: Need to understand my home electrical meter to see why bill is so high and/or if neighbor is on same meter

Lord Of ThunderI would like to know how to understand my digital home electrical meter. This picture shows what my home meter CURRENTLY reads. I intend to unplug everything in my tiny apartment in order to get another read. My reason? My apartment consists of 1 SINGLE room, a kitchen, and a TINY Bathroom. T...

lol
Nahhhhhhh......

> Extras: A hot water heater which I believe is gas.
clue: it's not xD

> Best time to turn them off would be when they're home and trying to cook. That way they'll notice if their oven or fridge loses power.
I believe that was @Burgi 's suggestion

yeah its what our supplier suggested when we were trying to figure out the reading mismatch
we can recommend moving to a company called octopus
they've got the best energy supplier score on trustpilot#
@bertieb if you need a referal code, give me a shout

Sure
Last time I did a comparison the folks I'm with were the cheapest supplier by a gnat's crotchet
Think I'm up for renewal in a couple of months or so

1:41 PM
price wasn't our driver for changing
it was customer service

Fair do's!

they are a little cheaper than EON but a million times more helpful

@djsmiley2k I was literally considering the same possibility

Mines changing now.

do you want a referal code @djsmiley2k?

1:48 PM
Too late
and i went with the cheapest ¬_¬
I never spoke to anyone at FU when I left (other than asking on twitter when I'd get my refund), Never spoke to anyone at Green Network, and so far not spoken to anyone at the new place either

the big energy companies are literally the woirst people

Oh agreed.

1 hour later…
2:55 PM

4:00 PM
@Burgi clearly not irresponsible enough

4:36 PM
so wifes out, it's me and the kids tonight, yikes
plz lord let them sleep

5:12 PM
What's even worse is, a month ago they transferred me to work on the game I was already playing, and suddenly I found myself procrastinating by playing the one I'd been assigned before. It's possible they're onto me and this is all part of the plan.
