heh
I have a question I think is up someone elses alley, but our resident AMD fan's away at the moment :(
1
Q: Are all AMD OE box fans the same within each series?

ATX FerretI'm considering upgrading my old, repurposed HTPC, which has an A4-5300, with an A8-5500. Both APUs are Virgo "Trinity" series, socket FM2 APUs, both had retail box versions, so I'm wondering if the fan and heatsink would have been the same from AMD.

Someone should post a better answer than mine ;p

Bob
> fan

@Bob lets leave it as such shall we? ;p
If I'm going to make a pun, it should be on purpose...

12:00 PM
Well... my aunt has just gifted me a Lamy AL-star. EF nib, engraved with my name.

12:15 PM
GUYS
I'm home alone
2
And my house is under attack from a family of at least 12 monkeys
4
They've ransacked the outside room where we keep food and stuff

@rahuldottech Oh dear.

IT'S RIGHT OUTSIDE MY WINDOW

@bwDraco al stars are nice

Unfortunately, the only camera I have on hand is the 5MP one in this crappy phone

@DavidPostill I'm locked inside the other two rooms, so I'm safe

It's exceptionally smooth for an EF nib. I have a couple of Japanese FPs with F nibs (which are best compared to Western EFs) and neither are anywhere near as smooth.
Acquired with a converter (Lamy Z28) and a bottle of black ink.
I knew for a long time Lamy made pens that look and write great, but this is every bit as smooth as my Pelikans.

But the way my house is:

| | --|

Monkeys are on terrace and stairs and said store room

I see monkeys in every room.

@jokerdino evolved v/s non-evolved

12:30 PM
@rahuldottech So the monkeys have manage to pick the lock you had on the store room?

they can open the room, they are mon-keys after all.

Windows were open in that room (the extreme right of the diagram), and they managed to push the door looking on to the terrace open from inside, which was tightly shut, but not locked

I wonder what monkeys fear
fire maybe
get the lynx can and a lighter out?
If they learn to use flamethrowers, you're screwed either way.

12:32 PM
@djsmiley2k I am not going to play with fire
Because if something goes wrong, that way I cannot even get to a doctor with the monkeys outside

I considered smoke, but I'm not going to risk it

if something went wrong.... you'd no longer have to worry abut monkeys, or a terrace, tbh
or doors, or windows..

@djsmiley2k or my life, which I'd like to retain

pffft, overrated.,
seriously tho :/
it seems like you can't really 'scare' them off, like most animals :/

12:36 PM
> From getting shitfaced on stolen whiskey to attacking politicians and stealing files from government headquarters, India's monkeys have gone bananas.

That's where I do pull-ups -_-

Not going to make a joke about... monkey bars...

@JourneymanGeek I was tempted to do so myself

Oh, You can.

But I didn't know if they're called that outside of India

12:44 PM
Or monkey nuts ...

@djsmiley2k they will beat or bite you.. keep away from these monkeys

I know a guy who had a fight with monkeys in south africa
he was huge tho
a life guard
he grabbed one monkey, put it in a choke hold and threw it outta the window
it landed in his swimming pool
the rest did a runner when they saw that

Q: Is this laser printer ruined?

pitosalasI was having a minor streaking problem with my Brother printer, using non-Brother toner (!). Following instructions I removed the cartridge to reposition it when a whole bunch of toner came out, all over the guts of the printer. I began delicately to vacuum it but it's all over the insides as you...

ow

1:35 PM
suks

2:22 PM
ooooooook
i expecteds that to be harder
replaced laptop keyboard in about 10 seconjds

not typing this on that keyboard tho lol
now waiting for keyboard to work after rebooting
hmmm didn't work, reinserting cable ribbon again

yey it qworks
no more broken C key!
no more missing 'right' key

i opened up the bottom to clean it out

I finally bought a mouse whose wheel is designed in a way that it won't start acting up after extended use.

user226528
On a side note: What's with Google Chrome? It caches three copies of its installer!

3:19 PM
Does it?

2 hours later…
5:07 PM
omg a laptop where all the keys work, this is so weird!

user226528
Un mundo raro.

it's really annoying to have to go into a site, to open their chat :/

user226528
????

sec
image incoming

user226528
Oh uh. I'd better take cover under the desk.

5:17 PM
Why can't wehave this~?

user226528
Those additional "chat" buttons are your work, right?

user226528
I guess it can be done with ViolentMonkey.

user226528
Or GreaseMonkey.

user226528
Or FireMonkey.

user226528
I should really write "*Monkey".

5:21 PM
they were mspaint.
hmmm
what is the correct 'name' for these plugs which pass power through them, while also offering usb charging?
like this
infact I might just get this one
or not that one, the reviews are terrrible ;D

user226528
Power strip?

user226528
> A power strip (also known as an extension block, power board, power bar, plug board, trailing gang, trailing socket, plug bar, trailer lead, multi-socket, multi-box, multiple socket, multiple outlet, polysocket and by many other variations) ...

user226528
!!wiki File:Surge Guard Power Strip (UK).jpg

user226528
Well, I guess you have to click on it then.

user226528
5:32 PM
Anyway, pick any of these names and add "with USB" to the end.

6:01 PM
@FleetCommand i wanted just a single socket with usb
sorted now tho

@djsmiley2k I got mine from Screwfix IIRC (for future ref)

nod, I found some @bertieb BUT £20

Eep, don't remember mine being that much
Would have to dig out the catalogue

Ooohhh I see, an adapter

6:06 PM
yus
ah yeah i dont know how deep the wall box is

My mistake- I meant a 1/2-gang (?) outlet
Fair enoof

else i'd fit an outlet
concidering how much else is bodged :/

Hmm

i dont want to touch unless required

They presumably have dimensions on the product
Aye fair enough

6:07 PM
says 25mm depth required
which doesnt seem deep
but at our old house, I went to replace a lightswitch..... and behind it was 3 bits of wood 'making' a box... about 10mm deep.... was a right pain to sort
Had to chisel out brickwork and stuff to sort it
The lightswitch itself was being held in place by the paint..

user226528
I always mistake "Kakure" and "Kamakure".

user226528
Also, the latter can easily be confused with "Kamakura". Oh uh.

@djsmiley2k erk, that's just crying out for a new back box (but a pain whatever way you slice it)
Not sure what regs have to say about wood as a material :P

that was my plan
but just never got done

I know the feeling
On the great todo list

6:22 PM
well today I fixed the towel rail again
so that's one thing.

small steps 👍
I disassembled, moved and reassembled a desk
small steps

I'm pretty sure I did something else but I've forgotten what.
Also we've finally got 90% of the kids toys tided up, so now we can hopefully keep on top of it, (hahahaha)

:P

Surprises don't end today. I've got .cbr files that Calibre cannot open. Their container format is 7zip LZMA:24 instead of RAR.

8:29 PM
o_O

@FleetCommand I think you can rename them to cb7 and it should work.
I ran into this problem when trying to package dosage downloads for my iPad.
> CDisplay RAR Archived Comic Book (CBR) if the images are stored in RAR format, or CDisplay ZIP Archived Comic Book (CBZ) if the file uses the ZIP format. The same naming scheme applies to CBT (TAR compressed), CB7 (7Z compressed), and CBA (ACE compressed) files.

9:21 PM
@Bob, have an upvote on a 6 year old answer! :)

9:34 PM
@PichiWuana Not sure if you got an answer, but you can feather a brush so to speak. Shift (or maybe+ [ or ] will feather the edge of whatever brush you are currently using, including the eraser tool.
Although I would totally suggest using a layer mask when removing parts of photos, much less destructive.

Must have been Intel, or someone pretending to be Intel trying to manipulate their stocks!

11:40 PM
