Bob
2:45 AM
@bwDraco you really think it has a brand?

lol

Bob
a slik pressman apparently o.O

Hmm... that isn't quite generic, but some old cheap model.
For me, aluminum is an automatic !!/no. I expect carbon fiber.
Appears to be a model only available in certain markets.

3:09 AM
Mine is about 30 years old, and one of the tabs is held in place with styrene sheet

Tabs?

3:36 AM
> Professional Heavy Duty Ball Head
> Support up to 6 kg or 13 lbs
6 kg is unbelievably flimsy for a ball head.
Also, in one of the reviews...
> My only complaint is as you tighten the tension knobs it tends to adjust the framing of your photo.
!!/headdesk

A good ball head will not do that. There should be absolutely no movement whatsoever when you tighten the tension.
I know @Bob likes mocking crappy products :P
I mean, 6 kg load limit is pretty low for a ball head. (Some Manfrotto ball heads are rated pretty low, too; the 494 is rated for 8 kg, but Manfrotto tends to be a bit conservative with its load ratings)
But a ball head rated 6 kg does not deserve to be called "professional heavy duty". The Arca-Swiss Monoball Z1+ sp is rated to ten times that number, and is tested to cope with this load off-axis.
(not that my tripod will support this kind of weight; the Manfrotto 055 family is rated for 9 kg, though I suspect there's a bit of wiggle room on the carbon-fiber models)
Most better ball heads will handle 10 kg+ without trouble.

4:19 AM
I am in idiot

5:46 AM
okay man
i need to rant
the idiots
they killed ebay off in india
i dont know why

which idiots?
how?

@JourneymanGeek Flipkart bought and killed off
which, in turn, got bought by wallmart
but now there's nowhere left to get second-hand goods
and IT IS KILLING ME

wait.
Walmart?

@JourneymanGeek yeh
bought 77%
I'm into old stuff
I want to BUY OLD STUFF
just stop, clippy

5:49 AM
but like

and india dosen't have the...
man, that's one thing I miss about the UK

I want to buy all these old synths and keyboards and stuff
no, clippy
@JourneymanGeek I wish we had garage sales so bad

so easy to find people who were like "hey, so we're clearing out our storage and we have a shitton of old stuff if you will pick it up"

EXACTLY MAN WTF DO THAT HERE MORE OFTEN
OR LIKE, AT ALL
stupid stupid stupid people

asians rarely throw away stuff lol
or give them away

5:53 AM
YEAH BUT THEY USED TO SELL STUFF
Before the idiots killed ebay
ARGH
This makes me so angry

ya, I get what you mean

There's really very few people into old tech and even lesser into old digital instruments here in India

Ebay was the one place I could get stuff.

cause india didn't really have the good old tech pre 90s

5:55 AM
I never did, because I didn't have money
But as soon as I managed to save up...

does anyone?

BAM! Site killed off!

being poorass builds skills
I mean, I'm a 30something with a job

tbh there's some really cool antique stuff I've been considering getting from ebay US but import fees + customs drama + higher US prices + super long wait times are pretty big turn offs

but I've been where I've literally saved up over a year or two for a thing

5:59 AM
THIS STUFF IS SO COOL MAN
Get me an old cheap 80s synth worth $10 on ebay US and I WILL GIVE YOU ANYTHING
It's the way to my heart

This question got closed on EE.SE as unclear. Is it clearer for you, folks?

Q: Help with wiring pc monitor OSD keyboard to scaler board

gobiI had sent my monitor for repair due to a faulty power board. As there is no spare part available he suggested conversion using LCD controller board to which I agreed but later declined cause I had found an identical power board at a China online shopping website but unfortunately he had ripped of...

OMG LOOK AT THIS!
PURE GENIUS
> Inspire Scholarship for Higher Education in Science by the Dept of Science & Tech
> Meritorious Students with aggregate marks within top 1% of their Class XII examination
Righttttt
It'd be nice to have once, single scholarship which focuses on merit and achievements in areas other than academic performance in our lousy education system.

well, depends on what you're trying to do
you want poor smart kids to pull themselves out
but but
I don't think that 'smart' in any non acedemic sense is what most people get

@JourneymanGeek getting scores that good without spending lakhs of money for extra classes is very, very hard.
Most (see:>90%) aren't able to then even then

@rahuldottech the problem is with the education system
but hey, india has a lot of really hairbrained ideas about removing inequality

8:20 AM
tbh i just wanna end up doing what i love
and not be broke doing so
> Brushing at night is the most important. Saliva naturally fights the growth of bacteria on your teeth. Your mouth dries out at night and reduces your mouth's ability to do this. Ideally, you would keep your teeth clean at all times but that's of course not realistic. A while back I read many websites and opinions about this very question. The main consensus seemed to be that people brush in the morning because it makes them feel good to start their day with a clean mouth (not because it's the best time to do it).
guyz plz take care of dental hygiene
>('-')<

2 hours later…
10:46 AM
I'm going to broadcast rayman, if anyone cares.

11:32 AM
Guys quick
Is it socially acceptable for me to eat a croissant with my hands?

lol yes
they are meant to be

Bob
11:46 AM
...how are you eating croissants?

12:05 PM
@Bob they just gave me a fork and knife with it
Weirdos.
And that made me wonder if I'd been doing it wrong my whole life

lol

12:19 PM
> Optimum number of croissants

One is never enough, three is far too many.
Equipment

A knife may be optional depending on whether or not you want to apply butter, but a plate is essential. Notoriously, the debris scattered by a croissant is second only in its breadth and density to nuclear fallout.
A lot of people cut their croissants in half, or slit them (if you have the knife skills), and insert #fillingofchoice (butter, jam, marmalade, chocolate, ...)

12:35 PM
But I apply the butter with a knife
@DavidPostill I do that with butter occasionally. Still eat with hands.
Ugh @Bob you use roundcube, don't you?

Bob
..?
use? not really

Ah, okay then. Nevermind.

Bob
had it set up once as a ui for a test server

12:52 PM
@Bob Are you back where you belong? Did you enjoy your trip?

1:29 PM
@Bob was traveling? Huh, didn't know.
Also, studies are killing me. I hate this. Ugh.
Less than a year of school left though
Hopefully, college will be better. At least I'll be able to study what I want to.
Tbh, if college is as messed up as this, I'm just going to drop out, freelance, build a portfolio and try and get a scholarship abroad
I'm done with this crap.
That is if I get into college in the first place.
I need to get 95% in 12th finals, combined in four of my five subjects to get admission in an affordable college which teaches CS
Fun. Realistically speaking, there's no way I can get that much
The plan is to get as high as possible in CS and English, and then do whatever best I can in chem and maths
Best of four for college admissions so I guess it makes sense if I don't study hard for physics and work for the other four
Sorry for the rants recently. Typing this stuff out helps clear my mind and think straight, I guess. It's a bad time.
Feel free to ignore/move to recycle bin or whatever
And just tell me if you want me to stop

HAMMERTIME!

And just tell me if you want me to stop
@ChatBotJohnCavil sentient, I tell you

Bob
2:08 PM
@DavidPostill :)

@rahuldottech carry on.

2:32 PM
How do you stop yourself from giving up and keep going
Because man, I really need to figure this out.
I need to do this for my mom and my sister
But argh
I just
It's so tough.

@rahuldottech one foot in front of the other

Every teacher who has ever taught me says I have the brains for it. But what good does that do me if I can't get myself to put any of it to use
@JourneymanGeek arghhh
I'm just gonna keep trying, man. I'm probably not going to make it. But whatever. Have to try.
Who am I kidding, there's no way I can make it. I always think I can. I make all these plans and schedules and timetables and idk what else
Never works out. Never has.

You've not failed yet.

@djsmiley2k I have, every time till now. I don't see why the final exam will be any different
Here I am, drinking super overpriced and shitty triple-shot coffee, thinking that if I study through the night I can get enough marks to show a bit of an upwards trajectory tomorrow. A microscopic improvement. Anything, man.
But that's what I think every. damn. time.
It's a lie.

2:48 PM
yeah don't do that
go in fresh, with a proper nights sleep
cramming doesn't work, but I've said this before.

3 hours later…
5:59 PM
@rahuldottech don't turn into me while I am away. Thank you.

6:16 PM
Morning all

6:29 PM

6:43 PM
@CanadianLuke Good morning!
I love pancakes and maple explosions.

We just call it Maple Syrup here :P
And it goes great with fried bacon too

Pushing the limits of Polaris to beat the GTX 1060: anandtech.com/show/13570/the-amd-radeon-rx-590-review
Die shrink to 12nm, but fundamentally the same design. AMD's solution uses nearly twice the power of the NVIDIA GPU.
They seriously need a new architecture to compete with NVIDIA's best.

7:13 PM
@CanadianLuke everything is better with bacon

Even chocolate... mmmm :)

yup

7:35 PM
and bacon

8:02 PM
