Besides, I literally have no other use for this SSD. The drive was an 64 GB mSATA SSD (Plextor M5M) originally purchased as an add-on for my old gaming laptop (Dragon), which is no longer in service and has been partially dismantled. I decided to put it into a StarTech USB 3.1 Gen 2 enclosure so I can reuse the drive. It's not the fastest drive because of the low capacity, but it's still planar MLC NAND and a solid performer that performs very well in this role as a dedicated swap disk.
Ran me $75 when I got it. These days, $75 gets you a 256 GB-class NVMe SSD.
No official endurance rating, but someone did manage to kill one after 250 TB of writes.
(I'd probably say JEDEC endurance is in the ballpark of 50-100 TBW)

Ordered a 64 GB Plextor M5M mSATA SSD earlier today
This drive is almost five years old.
(though the first one was replaced because it was DOA)
And in fact, the only SSD I have whose warranty has actually expired.
It actually only has 5.0 TBW on it so far (using TiB and not TB).
(misread the smartctl output)

hmm
So, I'm looking at dnsmasq docs... its a lot simpler and does basic stuff...
why would I need/want to run bind9 over that unless I wanted/needed an authoritative DNS server?
actually looks like it does it too

Good noon.
I've a question. Can a passive HDMI to VGA adapter actually work?
I've seen this on AliExpress
I want to connect a digital receiver to a very old monitor.

A: difference between HDMI to VGA Converter and "Active HDMI to VGA Converter"

grawityUsually "active" means the converter has special circuitry (chips) inside, for converting one kind of signal to another. "Passive" adapters are more-or-less direct connections between differently shaped plugs/sockets. However, HDMI and VGA use fundamentally different signals, so all HDMI-to-VGA ...

This answer says that passive connectors are garbage, but then this AliExpress item has much positive feedback

Q: Will an HDMI to VGA connector work?

AnkurVjI have a device that has an HDMI output port. The specification says that I can connect it to a monitor that has an HDMI input port (through HDMI to HDMI cable) or one that has a DVI-D input port. Now, I don't have either. What I have are monitors that have only VGA input ( Actually, the connecto...

The answers are wildly divergent

@CowperKettle if its cheap... ;)
Would depend on the HDMI source I suspect
most of the ones I have seen are active tho

@CowperKettle that's active.

Q: How do I tell students at a school I volunteer at to stop flirting with me?

gparyani Occasionally, I head out to volunteer to teach robotics programming at an all-girls school in my area. For context, I'm male and age 20, and the students are adolescent females in 7th and 8th grade (13-15 year olds). When I head out to teach, most of the students there treat me professionally...

@djsmiley2k As long as you don't respond flirtatiously and don't actually get into a relationship (the horror) with any of them, does it even matter?

@rahuldottech of course, but unfortunately the wider (and unwise) world tends to not see things so clearly
'She must of been wearing something revealing....'
how many times has that been used as a excuse :/
'He must of been saying/doing something to encourage them'
