Bob
4:00 PM
@JourneymanGeek don't forget when frying bacon

On second; picture coming up.

@Bob: I don't fry bacon

bacon isn't supposed to explode o.O

Bob
:P
well, for certain definitions of explode
which I include large jets of hot oil (with a bang)
never ask me to cook...

But cooking is fun

4:01 PM
Mustard seeds also explode on contact with hot oil :P

I never use mustard with anything

lol
true

but thats a VERY indian thing

@Leathe I'm from a spicy nation :P
@Ariane oatmeal does that o0 ?

4:02 PM
Microwave ?

@Ariane: tip, just pour hot water on it.

@HackToHell I'm from a crazy nation :P

if it STILL exploides...

@JourneymanGeek Nah, it doesn't cook properly then. But normally it doesn't explode. I just forgot to stir it properly before.

@Leathe The nation where people should out of their windows 24/7 ? iirc

4:04 PM
nah. we go into a room that's over 100 degrees C just to relax

lol
@Ariane: oh yeah
we don't have it mushy ;p
heck we buy the rolled stuff, mainly cause its even less mushy

and during easter, this is a common thing people eat here
and no, that's not chocolate cake.

@Leathe wzzat ?

or chocolate anything.
it's called "Mämmi"

4:05 PM
Mämmi () is a traditional Finnish Easter dessert. The Swedish language name for it is memma. Mämmi is made of water, rye flour, and powdered malted rye, seasoned with dark molasses, salt, and dried powdered Seville orange zest. The mixture is then allowed to go through a slow natural sweetening process before being baked in an oven until set. Preparation takes many hours, and after baking the mämmi is stored chilled for three to four days before being ready to eat. Mämmi was traditionally stored in small bowls made of birch bark called tuokkonen or rove. Finnish packaging still prints...

^ that

Only the dog would think that poop is dessert.

lol India is largest english speaking country

hmm actually seems alright looking at the incrediants ;p
@Tanner: puppies do that
proper well bread mutts prefer noodles.

is that Zooc I hear in the background?

4:07 PM
@JourneymanGeek ooh Ash is shorter that i expected

ah no, nevermind.

makes him/her cuter :P

@JourneymanGeek Oh, I know... we had a puppy that had a hard time with house training. peed outside but pooped inside. I thought I finally got him trained when I found him pooping, turning around, and eating it. I vomited for an hour and put him on craigslist.
3

that was worth a star @Tanner
"I vomited for an hour and put him on craigslist"

@JourneymanGeek Mushy? Rolled?

4:09 PM
hah... worst part was my wife called me immediately after it happened, so I had to explain it between heaves. she was laughing so hard.

@Tanner: actually, poopeating has a reason
@Ariane: there's three kinda oats, instant, rolled and steelcut
instant is, well mushy

how about we don't discuss reasons for eating poop. kthx.

I know none of these.

rolled is flattened out but still recognisable
@HackToHell: thats when he was a puppy ;p

There's uhm, big flakes, quick and one-minute. I use "quick".

4:10 PM
@JourneymanGeek lol okay :P

such a typical western way of explaining food

"fast, big, REALLY FAST"

@Leathe: college student! ;p

4:11 PM
Ahaha.
Well, "large flakes" takes like 20 minutes to be ready, and even then, it feels like a soup of water with floating oat flakes.

And this is not directed towards you @Ariane specifically, but the companies put that on the products as some sort of explanation

that sounds like rolled possibly
@Leathe: I only know what's in my food cause I'm vegitarian ;p

Eh
@JourneymanGeek Yeah... Well, it mainly looks like oat flakes, but cut in half and somewhat degraded, maybe.

;p
'degraded'

4:13 PM
Also, is vegitarian something special or did you mean vegetarian?

Rolled oats are traditionally oat groats that have been rolled into flat flakes under heavy rollers and then steamed and lightly toasted. The oat, like the other cereals, has a hard, inedible outer husk that must be removed before the grain can be eaten. After the outer husk (or chaff) has been removed from the still bran-covered oat grains, the remainder is called oat groats. Oat groats are a whole grain that can be used as a breakfast cereal. Steel-cut oats are oat groats that have been chopped into smaller pieces and retain bits of the bran layer. Since the bran layer, though nutr...
@Ariane: those spellings look the same to me ;p

Yes, that looks like that's it.

I eat mostly plant based foods with some dairy

Yeah, soudns like me

@JourneymanGeek speaking of vegetarian. a couple of weeks ago I had my first soy(?) sausage
it was amazing
couldn't really tell the difference

4:15 PM
Except I eat exceedingly unhealthily because I don't wanna cook.

@Leathe: thats one of the few things I miss from the military

@Ariane get someone to cook for you!

and we have this FANTASTIC vegan burger chain here
their buns are ... prolly the best. ever.

@Leathe Those are almost as unhealthy as the real sausages.

4:15 PM
@Leathe Eh, looks around two-room apartment who?

I eat almost entirely home cooked food
I haven't eaten out in ages :/

@JourneymanGeek I'm jealous. I love to cook.

@Ariane ah. :I
@Ariane wait what. you love to cook but you don't want to cook?

@Ariane: I'd like the OPTION to

but does people love to eat what you cook?

4:17 PM
cause god, I'd murder a cheese prata. ;p

good question :f

@Tanner Very much waiting for this.

@Ariane :) Getting a month supply

@HackToHell :f ??

4:18 PM
I'm so excited

@Tanner US only :x

ohhhhhhh I forgot :( I'm sorry.

@Tanner: I read about that
sounds pretty odd to me

@Tanner wait what. what is that?

@JourneymanGeek Right? lol

4:19 PM
cooking to me is fun

time for dinner anyway.

@Leathe A berevage with precisely everything you need to live

@Leathe Some dude took a bunch of vitamins and carbs and fats and yadda yadda and voila, food replacement drink!

but that's
no

@Leathe You take that and you never eat again if you don't feel like it. And it's cheaper and healthier than most foods. Not to mention cooking time is null.

Bob
4:19 PM
@JourneymanGeek is that your dog you?

Compared to what I eat on a daily basis? It's a yes.

I refuse to believe that's a thing

@Tanner +1

@Bob: yes ;p
that is in fact, the resident canid

@jokerdino Nope. What I cook mostly tastes good and looks gross, so no one's ever tasted it, except my ex co-tenant, once. Problem is that I take 3-4 times the normal cooking time and it tires the heck out of me.

4:20 PM
blah. cooking and eating is supposed to be enjoyable :I

@Leathe I enjoy it precisely twice a week.
Everything else is shoveling food in my mouth before I get on the go again.

@Ariane oh hey. my cooking tastes good and looks a bit gross, too!

or atleast according to my previous roommate

4:21 PM
[invoking bias]

@Leathe Supposed to. But when it takes all of your energy and time, and most of the time you end up eating oatmeal, toasts, cookies, granola bars and tomato sandwiches, it doesn't.

makes the bestest cheating peanut sauce ;p

as long as the food doesn't violate the dog, I am fine

@JourneymanGeek ohhhh, do tell? I love peanut sauce =D

@Ariane: when I was on my own, I spent exactly 10 minutes cooking
@Tanner: sadly most of the incrediants are localish ;p

4:22 PM
@JourneymanGeek Cooking what? That's the important point.

@JourneymanGeek :(

@Ariane What do you spend so much time on that you don't have the time to make food?

@Leathe Oh, everything. Take every activity in your day, multiply it by 2-4. That's about the time it takes me.

I just mix proper peanut butter (adams) with a chinese style jarred chilli sauce (I have no idea what brand that is) with a proper sweet chilli sauce (malaysian brand called lingams)
adams is american

@Ariane how come, if I may ask?

4:24 PM
@Leathe No psychologist, special educator, psychiatrist or doctor has been able to answer that with certainty. Current theory is a mix of uncontrollable perfectionism and being a huge daze.

aww :P

Like...
-enter shower
-Look at time
-2 minutes later, look at time. 20 minutes have passed. What?

We don't talk about showering habits here. Things got... weird once. >_>

4:25 PM
for me it's
- look at time
- enter shower
- get out from shower
- an hour has passed

20 minutes sounds fine

long showers FTW.

I don't like it.

unless you're a dog ._.

Showers are long, and super tiring.

4:26 PM
Bah I better do this "laundry" thing I promised to do

I'm supposing you're a guy and like most of them you neglect skin care, but properly exfoliating a whole body is such a chore.

Aaaah. I see.

I have more computer cleaning products than personal cleaning products....
and at a pinch, I totally will wash my hair with shower foam

What is shower foam?

4:27 PM
....
that liquid soapy stuff for bathing?

:D

Shower gel.

Ahahaha
No, I think he means that stuff you put in the bath to make bubbles

Shower foam implies that your shower doesn't spit out water but foam, which is worrysome at the least.

I'm a dude. its... stuff that makes soapy stuff.

4:28 PM
bubbles = foamy stuff

...... @JourneymanGeek You're scary.

lol
what? ;p

That is worrying, yes

hey @OliverSalzburg

Greetings

4:30 PM
how's that addon going along? :b

I don't go into too much thought over what I bathe with. It smells ok, its unfortunately not the citrus body shop, or minty stuff I got in the UK, and it cleans.

My son falling asleep on me last night :) ^^^

@JourneymanGeek People usually at least know what's written on the bottle with which they shower.

@Luke Am I seeing this right or is that couch HUGE?

4:31 PM
this stuff was awesome

@Leathe What addon?

@Leathe It's a 3-seater couch, great angle that I'm laying at so it seems bigger then it is

@OliverSalzburg the chat thingamajig

@JourneymanGeek Tea tree oil... Crap, that's violent. Sounds like it'd make my skin crack open.

@Ariane: small bottle with pink stuff I need to shake is for hair. little squeezy thing for face. big pump for body

4:32 PM
@Leathe Well, so far so good :P

@Ariane: used to use the stuff when I was in the UK
smelled AWESOME

@JourneymanGeek I believe you on the smell, but tea tree oil is what you use to dry out extremely oily hair, for instance.

@Ariane: its all about quantity
;p
actually the stuff I used was just mint...

@JourneymanGeek It's not. It's a very drying product.
Oh, that changes everything.

This conversation strengthens my belief, that @JourneymanGeek is, in fact, a dog.
2

4:34 PM
same brand tho
unless I mis remember

I still need to find an okay face cleanser
My previous one basically didn't really clean, and the one I'm trying foams like crazy and is sorta too violent.

@Leathe: this is, in fact a strong possibility ;p
violent is a strange way to describe soap ;p

Attack of the Foam

(that said, dog shampoo smells horrid)

@JourneymanGeek Lesson one: Cleansing products are not necessarily soap.
What? My dogs shampoo smelled so awesome.

4:36 PM
@Ariane, to men they are.

Bob
@Tanner Oh god...

Men are scary creatures.

@Ariane: smells chemicalish

Bob
@Ariane uhm...

this is for itchy skin.

4:37 PM
Yes, we're aggressively foamy.

@JourneymanGeek My dog's smelled like candy, somewhat.
Whoo! Second oatmeal bowl: no explosion!

Bob
I just use a generic bar of soap...
is that odd? o.O

we use some stuff called sebolyse

@Bob Not very odd, no. Just probably a minority nowadays. Soap stinks.

Bob
I actually think it smells rather nice.
But all this stuff has some scent or other.

4:39 PM
Also @Ariane, you have to remember what kind of group of men usually chat in a room called "Root access".

Bob
Something something "meadow"

@Leathe I know, I'm half-kidding. (HALF.)
@Bob Dunno, my mother's soap is really really generic. It smells... like soap. And if someone who uses soap like that comes near me, I know it. And it's unpleasant. D:

Bob
o.O

lol
@Ariane: depends on the soap
if its made from bacon fat...

Well, much better than the smell of dirty smelly underarms, of course. That one can be pretty terrible.
Ew, bacon fat.

4:41 PM
@JourneymanGeek then it might explode!

Wow, the stupidity is at an all time high in Root Access

Reminds me, my stepfather used to do something so yucky. When he made bacon, he left the grease to cool down, and when it was cool, he poured it onto my dog's food as a sauce. It grossed me out so much.

I think the made soap out of lard on man lab
@OliverSalzburg: this is srs converdation!

We should invite Pat and Grandson to join this conversation about how to kill time in the shower

4:43 PM
lol

I'll tone down on the stupidity and go for a smoke :P ->

@Leathe You just doubled the stupidity.

@OliverSalzburg: you forgot EC :p

@Ariane, not sure how to take that :D

@Leathe "Stop smoking."

4:44 PM
@JourneymanGeek I never really talked to him

doubled by leaving, or by going to smoke?
@Ariane, but I'm toning it down HERE.
I'm being stupid somewhere else :P
->

Makes sense. Doesn't make it any better though.
Sorry, I can't hold my tongue about being critical on smoking.
Anyway! Wise course of action right now would be to at last start this Windows installation.
So... Bye-bye!

Bob
@Ariane Eh, my view is, if someone smokes that's their problem. But if someone smokes near me, I'll get annoyed.

same here

Bob
There is this one popular bus stop I have to be, where the smokers space out just perfectly that, in a ~30 metre stretch, there is no way to avoid them.

4:49 PM
You should fire up a crack pipe to counter their smoke attack

Bob
If they all stood next to each other, that would be at most maybe 4-5 metres...

._.

Bob
@OliverSalzburg Eh, I'll let you know if I find one.
> as was instructed by the internet
uh oh.

@Ariane I don't mind people being critical about it. It's my choice and people are allowed to criticize it :P

She also criticizes soap, so...

4:56 PM
leh anyone dislikes soap?

@jokerdino Don't mention it!
:D

:D

The installation is over, after like 5 minutes.
o.o
Now I have questions
Since I broke everything last time I want to make sure

5:12 PM
hm?

http://superuser.com/questions/545672/windows-file-history-is-unable-to-analyse-user-library-modifications
This doesn't expressly say, but seems to imply that I can/should change, on top of ProfilesDirectory, "Default", "ProgramData" and "Public". Am I interpreting it wrong?

The neighbors kids have drawn stuff with chalk on the street... O.o
Kids these days...

wow that is trolling real hard.

Hahahahaha

And here we drawn smiling people and suns.
Wow, IE sucks. The arrow for message options doesn't even work.

5:15 PM
BUT. I should maybe do something now.
Maybe mess around with Blender
myes. I shall create a wallpaper for myself.

Did someone read my question? oo'

@Ariane yes, but I'm unable to help :P

...Even IE has fallen in that nasty trend of minimizing the interface like crazy. ._.

@Ariane what question?

superuser.com/questions/…
This doesn't expressly say, but seems to imply that I can/should change, on top of ProfilesDirectory, "Default", "ProgramData" and "Public". Am I interpreting it wrong?
.....Did I tell you today how much I hate Markdown?

Q: Windows File History is unable to analyse user library modifications

ArianeI just activated Windows File History, but it won't work. It loads for a surprisingly short time when I tell it to "execute now". When I look in the event journals, I see that for every time I tried, there is an error under event number 201: Impossible d’analyser les modifications des bibliot...

(Look at the answer)

5:22 PM
@Ariane no
Windows 8. Nothing to contribute.

@jokerdino This is about moving folders to another drive, which has nothing to do with Windows 8 ni particular.

I should have said Windows. I am a ubuntu-ey guy.

Oh, okay.

anyway, what does this file history thing do?

Uuuuuhm. It saves past versions of your files, to which you can restore them if you need to. Something like that. As you can see it didn't work for me before so I can't say for sure.

5:30 PM
ah. Something like version control.
To get to the gist of your question, File History didn't recognize the modifications to the config file in your user folder?

@jokerdino What I'm worried about isn't the question; the answer is good. It's applying the answer. :p

@Ariane you are not going to use that answer, are you?

@jokerdino The one on my question? Yes, probably. The stuff you've been saying? No, because it doesn't seem to make any sense.

12 messages moved to Trashcan
@Ariane Fixed.

5:45 PM
Eeeh, okay.

The problem lies in people taking me too seriously and/or literally.

I'm sorry. oo'

I don't understand that emoji.

Two eyes and a drop of sweat. Dunno how to explain it.

Sweating on your forehead. Got it.

5:48 PM
Y-yeah, that's not it, but if it satisfies you.

O.O
There. I killed it.
On other news, I am contemplating leaving Tumblr. I never used it and probably wouldn't either.

Why would you bother leaving it if you never used it anyway?

Exactly.

The only thing I am using it is for reposting my Wordpress blog posts.
I think. I need to check on that.

5:59 PM
Wtf
I'm not allowed to delete my backup ProgramData folder.

use sudo

What's that?

UAC

Longer sentences please.

User Account Control.
it's been a while not calling it UAC. So I needed to look it up.

6:01 PM
I know what UAC is. I'm wondering how it makes sense for you to tell me to use UAC.

Hmm. In here, if I don't have permission to remove something, I use sudo rm.
It's alright if you don't get it. Most people don't.

Sigh.
I'll boot from my Ubuntu key. No problem deleting it from there for sure.
BRB

you know Ubuntu and you don't get sudo? O_o
What is this I don't even.

I googled it. And I don't "know Ubuntu". I use it when Windows won't let me do stuff because it's a free OS I don't need to install.

Eh okay.
I'll tiptoe outta this room

3 hours later…
9:06 PM
Caption: I found a way around copyrights

9:25 PM
@Luke that last one is brilliant.

10:45 PM
Thanks @Leathe
Hi @srikanthchandrasekaran

Does someone here have expiriance with raid?
hello?
Will this "mdadm /dev/md2 -r /dev/sdb3"
remove any data, i am rebuilding raid :(
I am desperate, no one is answering on thread, i have jut this question

11:10 PM
@Luka I don't know anything about this but it would be better for you to look at the Windows batch commands instead.
Also, am I crazy or does the Nvidia "graphics control panel" (whatever it's called, the thing equivalent to ATI Catalyst) not exist anymore ? o_o

Bob
@Ariane looks more like *nix
where does Windows come into this?
(I don't have any experience with mdadm, sorry)

Because I thought it was Windows batch commands. How would I know? They don't look all that different. x_x

Bob
@Ariane Of course it exists...
@Ariane /dev/X is typically where Linux puts its device files

@Bob Uuuuhm. Because uhm, I downloaded GeForce Experience, which is nice and all, but it's not the control panel, and I can't seem to find it on the Nvidia website. Having forgotten the name can't help, though, of course.

Bob
uhh... it comes with the video drivers

11:15 PM
...........It comes with the driver. Forget I said anything and clean up the shards of my pride. x_x

11:44 PM
Hummdihumm.
@Ariane they changed the System Icon to be nVidia Experience instead of the Control Panel.

D: I thought it was because of the shady stuff I'd done with symlinking my user account last time, but no, apparently that's a problem inherent to Windows
And of course apparently I'm not qualified for free technical support anymore.

Bob
@Ariane what is this problem, exactly?

Error 0x80070005 from a few Windows things such as the Windows store and the compatibility wizard. Permissions-related
Last time, it was a Microsoft technician who'd done it over their tool that makes them take control of the computer remotely, and of course when I tried what I think I remember he did, I got an error. Bad memory I guess :/
