@Braiam @Hennes Also, drive-by downloads. There are known instances of well-known and trusted sites with malicious code injected to perform a drive-by download, which can easily infect a computer without you knowing. Luckily, the main vector for those attacks is via plugins (e.g. Flash, Java), so keeping plugins disabled or click-to-play is generally safe. Until someone discovers a browser flaw (again), of course.

It seems to me the whole approach to studying Poetry is backwards; they pick some selection of historic poets and then expect you to read, learn, and most importantly understand their poems in the way you're told to understand them which is wholely counter to the purpose of poetry to begin with, no poet writes poetry to be read and studied and catagorized and catalogued based on genre, era, country of origin. Poets write poetry for people to read and enjoy in whichever way they may.

But what do I know, I've never studied poetry at all, maybe poetry classes do make sense or something.

Everything is overanalysed in "English" (aka Lit. Studies) classes :(

It takes all the enjoyment out of it. I'm pretty sure I hate Shakespeare and poetry now.

i remember a poem something like "oh captain my captain", i did not know anything what the poem was about (something about civil war) but i memorized it like a song and did so well in exams that i got the best marks :P

People usually think poetry needs to be *so damn pompous*. I love a brazilian poem that goes a bit like this:
"Give me a cigarette/Says the grammar/of professor and student/and
of the wise mulatto/But the good black and good white/of the Brazilian Nation/Say every day/Cut it out friendl / Gimme a cigarette"

@ThatBrazilianGuy Heh that is actually pretty great, poetically bumming a cigarette, only makes sense when the fact of the matter is poets like themselves a cigarette and are supposed to be poor by convention

@JimmyHoffa I have a strong suspicion he was just using the literal example of cigarretes to mock the pompous speech and say speaking informally is much more authentic.

But what do I know.

Another famous poet has a famous-to-the-point-of-memorized-in-school poems that says "On my way there was a stone. There was a stone in my way. I'll never forget this fact imprinted on my tired eyes, that there was a stone in the way etc etc etc".

Once it was a question on a national examn, asking what was the meaning, what he meant to say. There was a heated debate over the right answer.

The poet was still alive, so they asked him. He said it meant he once was taking a walk and there was, literally, a stone.

@ThatBrazilianGuy this is what happens when I'm forced to be up at 2am to be monitoring systems for a load test at 3am. I'm an SE not an SA, I'm not supposed to be functional at this hour.
