Ok, USB 3 flash drive: sequential read is nice, sequential write is amazing, random read is crappier than my USB 2 one though that may be because SanDisk is just better, random write is alright/good :P

it also probably depends on the specific USB drive - some are better than others - and maybe other factors like CPU speed (compressing/extracting is involved) and RAM
