It is possible to use Markdown for both the image and the link. You'll have to do it manually because, as you said, the toolbar isn't smart enough to do it for you:

but .... Eeeek! The image disappears! This also doesn't work:

I need an alternative to Visio for making diagrams (particularly signal processing block diagrams) that includes some kind of custom stencils + connection points. I just spent 2 hours learning bits and pieces of Dia only to find that it has no rotational capabilities, not even 90 degree rotations...
@BloodPhilia A fair bit, but it would really help for games. I play Metal Gear Solid 4, and im constantly having to read data, and every chapter requires it to be written.

@Rob SSD's have a limited number of write cycles... If you use it for user data storage, data that is very dynamic and lots of writes are needed, the drive will fail considerably sooner than a classic HDD
