@SimonSheehan cool! I had driver's ed myself, after I knew how to drive but didn't have much actual driving experience
it was 30 hours of classroom, 6 hours hands on driving with an instructor and other student(s) in the backseat commenting/along for the ride/learning and another 6 hours of vice versa
in my state, to get a license, you can start learning under a driver's learning permit at 15, and rack up 50 hours of driving with an adult (18+) licensed driver at all times, 40 during the day, and 10 at night...if you've done that and are 16 or older, you can get a license where you can drive by yourself or with family or with one non family member...that's for 6 months, then you have a full license...
so I was fully licensed, no restrictions at 16 and a half years old :P
In Ontario you have to be 16 to get a learners permit. then you spend a year with that. If you take drivers ed, only 8 months though. Then you have a G2. You have that for a certain amount of time until you take a test and get your full G
@studiohack A bunch of people who live in a trailer park, attempt to make drugs, get over the border, and generally commit crimes and not get caught. Its shot from the idea of a home camera. Its just plain funny.
And... you just reminded me... They still owe me about £100 from when they cancelled one of my tests and never paid me back... all the examiners were on strike...
@studiohack Ah I see... I honestly don't watch much TV. What I do see is at times like this, where i've got the laptop and my brother has the TV on. I watch anime mostly since its free and online.
The test was about £50 when I took it (I think... maybe more), but, the driving instructor charges around £40 for their car for the hour... and, I think I claimed a bit of compensation on top (well, I had to take the morning off of jobs)... Mayb eit was more than £100 I claimed for, I really can't remember... I wonder if it is too late, it was a few years ago now

@studiohack well now that my school has unlocked wifi I can easily use my iPod there.. It's nice. I got an iPod touch almost 4 years ago and really couldn't swap to anything else now :P
@SimonSheehan I'm tempted to get an iPod touch and start learning the iProducts, simply for education and such, so that I know what they are...despite being a big MS person...
@studiohack it's an awesome piece of technology. It got me interested in apple, and now that my school is using more macs, I've had to get used them again (again.) Eventually i'd like to get a MacBook
@SimonSheehan In Canda and @Studiohack in America, have you seen the price of hard drives shoot up? I need to order some urgently and I can't believe the prices in England right now... I know it is due to the flood, but, it is crazy how quick stock has gone to 0 and prices have shot up :/
It is silly, all my distributors have made prices a minimum of 2x, up to 4-5x on bigger models, and, apart from retail which have put prices up more, there is 0 stock... crazy
@studiohack I know why, (I think I posted here yesterday... let me look)... but, I just can't believe it has hit us so quick / why there are so little in stock.
I am starting a new job on Wednesday, (just one month), and they want me to bring my own machine... I have a laptop, but, it is a few years old (luckily I got a good one at the time t9300), but, it is still old-ish, and, I was hoping to buy and take a low end desktop (well, i3) , but, the hard drives are just so expensive :/ I don't know to do it or not
For 2TB hard drives, dell haven't put up prices yet on custom builds and it is like buy a 2TB hard drive, get a computer for £50 ... it is just crazy.
@JourneymanGeek I am not really sure what my job involves at this point... I am sort of amazed I even got it... I haven't used the laptop since the graphics failed (8600m GS/GT (can't remember)) , I got it repaired, but, I got another machine whilst it was being repaired and I never went back to it
the thing is, I bought a 17" laptop as I was doing a few websites and wanted something to show clients on... but... it is too big and I broke my back taking it everywhere... so, it was a really bad purchase choice - I now just use a 13" one for taking it to clients + a projector, much easier/better
I am going to wipe and reinstall from scratch I think... It is RTM, and, I would rather just install from a SP1 disk from scratch... + I have some beta things, would rather just install the real stuff without having to worry about uninstalling it all
@JourneymanGeek The clock appears to be correct actually :/ and I didn't get a warning about CMOS battery dead... That would of been my first thought as well - something may not be right here :/
This is annoying, it is an almost empty system and some things such as start menu search are going faster than my I7 desktop :/ ...
Still annoying / makes me feel like Windows isn't as optimised as it should be... e.g. tools such as "everything" does an instant search, but, Windows start menu doesn't to a point where I hardly use it any more

oh, i was running snow leopard. it sort of works, other than wireless (ralink is the best bet there), and sound (mic is stuck on full). there's a new build for lion

oh, the torrent is on my home box, i dump torrent files into dropbox, and utorrent is monitoring that folder. it'll then dump it into another folder to show the download is started, and a third folder to show its finished ;p
also, there's no user authentication on this network
@JourneymanGeek lol, I guessed you were doing something smart when you said remotely above - sounds cool... I just mean, be careful as in doing other things whilst in class! I just wish I was better in some of my lessons back in the day!
@JourneymanGeek Fair enough as long as you are happy - I remember how bored I was during IT classes (and how bitter I am about the situation... long story).
@TomWijsman I most definitely did not confuse you with Tim. However, your interactions with me in particular has never come off as helpful, and intentional or not, I prefer not to interact with you where possible. Thankfully, it is something that can be done on the internet, and to be honest, any debate with you I will lose, so I have not, nor will I spend further time on it. @SimonSheehan Not just that, the economy is messed up - I can get something like that shipped from Asia, straight to me for almost the same price as it would cost for me to ship that to someone in England if I had it next to me (forgetting the actual cost of the item)... crazy world.
If there's something that requires no more proof and verification, it is how Jin is incredibly awesome beyond any level of human understanding when it comes to design. So the questions is, can we expect a bit of nice eye candy on SO as well?
