12:19 AM
If David wrote this psalm at the time scholars think he did, it's a powerful image. David, the most loyal servant to King Saul, was on the run for his life from King Saul himself. And this psalm promises that King Saul will be humbled before his servant David.

Why do I not see Lee Woofenden's tireless scrutiny on new questions? where is he?
@fredsbend ?
@LeeWoofenden ?

12:36 AM
@Abstractioniseverything. I can't speak for Lee.
As for me, I don't participate much due to dwindled interest in the topic.

12:56 AM
@fredsbend Sorry, which topic are you referring to?

1:28 AM
@Abstractioniseverything. I was away on vacation for a week and a half.

@LeeWoofenden Well, it really shows.
However, I hope you had a good vacation. Where did you go?

@Abstractioniseverything. My wife and I spent nine days in Cuba. Specifically, four nights in Santiago de Cuba and four nights in Trinidad, plus most of a day on either end.
@Abstractioniseverything. And yes, it was a great trip!

1:48 AM
@LeeWoofenden Wow! How was the weather in El Caribe? Were you there on relief effort, and calling it a vacation? Curious...

1:59 AM
@Abstractioniseverything. The U.S. government does not allow Americans to vacation or be tourists in Cuba. The official purpose of our visit was "support for the Cuban people."
We had one day of all-day rain, and a few sprinkles on a few other days. Other than that, it was beautiful, sunny, and hot.

2:18 AM
@LeeWoofenden Very nice! Thank you for your service in fulfilling the first, and second laws of liberty!

@Abstractioniseverything. The site topic, Christianity.

2:42 AM
@fredsbend Yes, of course, however (what I was asking) ? site declining in interest : you losing interest;

@LeeWoofenden They're not really accepted. Consensus on Meta is that they add a scope or get migrated.

3:07 AM
@Abstractioniseverything. I'm less interested in Christianity because I'm no longer Christian.

@fredsbend Hmmm...that seems contradictory to comments that you have made before. I thought the fact that you were 'no longer a believer' was what allowed you to appreciate it more.

Don't know where that's from. I'd say I simply view Christianity indifferently differently. I neither appreciate more nor less.

@curiousdannii And yet, when I had that very debate both here and on Meta, I was told that unscoped exegesis questions are allowed here. And in fact, when I tried to close them through flags, my flags were rejected to the point that I was briefly not allowed to flag because too many of my flags were rejected.

3:26 AM
@fredsbend I see, I could pull the reference from the transcript, if you wish; it's not important though. So, indifference (implication is different) to what you once believed, makes me curious what it was that you once did believe; it is a question.

@Abstractioniseverything. Sure, quote me. It'll be fun.

3:45 AM
@LeeWoofenden Aside from the most basic utterly non controversial ones, they should be closed. And in my recent experience that has been happening

@fredsbend "@Abstractioniseverything. Neither. I mean to say that I can look at any passage in the bible and have conclusions and thought tracks that were previously closed to me. When I was a believer, I had my core theology that I knew the bible supported, so I was pigeonholed in my study to always support that.

As a non believer, I can make conclusions like "No, the author is just making nonsense," or "Yes, this is inconsistent with these other passages."

I don't have to strain the bible into anything. It is what it is, and ironically, I appreciate it more now."

4:06 AM
@curiousdannii Tell it to the mods. All I know is that I argued that unscoped exegesis questions should not be allowed, and I was shot down, and my flags rejected.

4:31 AM
@LeeWoofenden It's ok Lee. My flags get rejected more often than not, and for exactly the same reason. The concerning matter, to me, is that I cannot often discern why one was, and why another(identical reason), was chosen as helpful.

5:56 AM
@Abstractioniseverything. Well, you got me. Yes, I guess in one definition I can say I do associate it more.
*appreciate
I don't think that's in contrast with less interest in the topic altogether. That's probably more of a pragmatic interest than anything else.

6:25 AM
@fredsbend understood. That does seem to be the natural course of pragmatic interest. If a pragmatist finds the end of a thing to be impractical, he has little purpose in the matter.

6:49 AM

Q: Does Jesus Christ have descendants?

D.HutchinsonIn the book The Da Vinci Code, it suggests the idea of Jesus having descendants - that there is some secret holy bloodline somewhere in this world. Any truth to this? Does anyone go searching for possible family members of Jesus Christ?

Does anyone else have a red bullet stuck on the "Low Quality Posts" item in the drop-down Review Queues menu, when there isn't actually a low quality post for review? Do any of the mods know why this is happening?

Q: What historical evidence is there for the existence of Jesus Christ?

CharlieFrom what I know, most historians accept a "historical Jesus" existed, but why? Outside of the gospel accounts, the Qur'an and such like what evidence have some historians used to come to this conclusion? I have never read any contemporary accounts of Jesus nor am I aware that any exist. Have h...
