Go ahead!
@FakeMod Thank you so much for coming, first of all :)
So, did you take admission via ASAT or TALLENTEX?
TALLENTEX
Nice. And in which class?
09:38
9th
Hmm. So, is it safe to treat your two year PNCF course as similar to the two year nurture course?
@RajdeepSindhu Nope. I was in the foundation batch :)
@FakeMod Ah, amazing!
I gave TALLENTEX this year
and let's say that I get some scolarship
(I'm in 10th, btw)
@RajdeepSindhu Nice.
So, if I join the Nurture course, would the scholarship apply to both years or just one?
09:40
@RajdeepSindhu Just 11th.
And is it that I have to pay the whole fee first and they return some amount back later (according to the scholarship) or do I just have to pay the deducted amount to begin with?
I personally think that it's most likely the latter but I'm not sure...
@RajdeepSindhu Pay deducted amount for 11th fee. Give TALLENTEX again in 11th and pay deducted amount for 12th fee.
@FakeMod TALLENTEX is till 10th only, though...
So, ASAT, I guess...
@RajdeepSindhu Nope. (at least not at my time) I did get scholarship for class 12th through TALLENTEX.
Don't know if they've changed it now.
I think they have...
Even the exam pattern was different now, very different.
09:44
Well, then I am not sure whether the fee structure would have remained the same.
160 questions, 2 hours, both integer and mcq type (sad flashback noises)
@FakeMod hmm
@RajdeepSindhu Yeah. They ask too many questions, man.
Yup. Anyway, would you recommend ALLEN?
Depends on the center.
@FakeMod Um, what about Kota? That's the most "popular" one and so, I assume that they're the one with the best faculty.
09:46
In Ahmedabad, Gujarat (the place where I am from), the ALLEN center was extremely supportive and full of talented faculties. But that isn't the case in other centers.
@RajdeepSindhu True. If you're going to Kota, you might not have to worry about the quality of academics.
@FakeMod worry about it being too high for me to comprehend or about it being lower than my expectations?
@FakeMod Good to know. Just about two more questions
@RajdeepSindhu Don't worry. They'll conduct shuffling tests and decide your batch according to your aptitude. So you will be studying with students as intelligent as you. As for faculties, I suppose they are also good mostly.
@FakeMod That's good to know too...
So, what exactly are phases and batches?
AFAIK, batches make up phases and students choose their phases and then, batches are decided on the basis of their ASAT/TALLENTEX score and later on, on the basis of their scores in their tests...
@RajdeepSindhu idk about any phases, and also the batch structure of every ALLEN center is different, and Kota's batch structure is way different than ours. Even the names aren't the same.
@FakeMod Hmm. One question to go :)
09:52
In general, there will be quite a lot of batches graded according to the performance of the consisting students.
I think that the case with most of the coaching institutes is that they focus a lot more on competitiveness and children's ability to solve questions at a high speed as compared to how much they focus on making kids truly understand what they're doing. A little example : In my class, there's this kid who can "solve" almost every question given to him but he has little to no idea about what he's doing actually means. Basically, he knows the "algorithm" that is to be used to solve a (1/2)
particular question but not why the algorithm is what it is. (2/2)
Is ALLEN, to any extent, an exception to this?
(tbh, I don't think my question was clear)
10:08
.
@FakeMod Thank you for clarifying things :D
@FakeMod By the way, @YouKnowMe (previously Mayank) told me about you. He told me not to tell this to you which is why I'm telling this to you.
