And is it that I have to pay the whole fee first and they return some amount back later (according to the scholarship) or do I just have to pay the deducted amount to begin with?
I personally think that it's most likely the latter but I'm not sure...
In Ahmedabad, Gujarat (the place where I am from), the ALLEN center was extremely supportive and full of talented faculties. But that isn't the case in other centers.
@RajdeepSindhu True. If you're going to Kota, you might not have to worry about the quality of academics.
@RajdeepSindhu Don't worry. They'll conduct shuffling tests and decide your batch according to your aptitude. So you will be studying with students as intelligent as you. As for faculties, I suppose they are also good mostly.
AFAIK, batches make up phases and students choose their phases and then, batches are decided on the basis of their ASAT/TALLENTEX score and later on, on the basis of their scores in their tests...
@RajdeepSindhu idk about any phases, and also the batch structure of every ALLEN center is different, and Kota's batch structure is way different than ours. Even the names aren't the same.
I think that the case with most of the coaching institutes is that they focus a lot more on competitiveness and children's ability to solve questions at a high speed as compared to how much they focus on making kids truly understand what they're doing. A little example : In my class, there's this kid who can "solve" almost every question given to him but he has little to no idea about what he's doing actually means. Basically, he knows the "algorithm" that is to be used to solve a (1/2)
particular question but not why the algorithm is what it is. (2/2)
