I'll reboot MS. Being sluggish and giving errors like that, and I saw some timeouts to API requests, are often symptoms that larger problems are developing.
@SmokeDetector The question actually asks for this type of information & the answer is from 2009. However, this answer was almost certainly intended as promotional. I'd consider it spam, even if the question was so bad that it's an answer.

@Undo That's probably not a good idea. Regex searches take a lot of resources and could easily be used for a DOS attack. OTOH, changing it to core or moderator on any site would be good.
@Makyen MS could automatically redirect any search from a registered user to one with a signature. Then you just copy the link from the address bar like always, and the signature allows unregistered people to use that link.
@Undo Possible, but still opens it up for DOS attacks. For long regex searches, which have probably mostly been passed around by me in CHQ and on Github PRs, the user would have to be careful to remove the signature from the URL.
@Undo I didn't see anything output by my instance when it died, but I had specified --loglevel=warning.
@SamuelLiew Should we consider this answer and the question it's on a spam + spam seed pair? I ask because the question is by the same user as posted the deleted questions you linked.
@Undo As long as we're willing to accept the additional exposure, whatever that actually is, then it sounds like a convenient thing to have. Although, most of the times I've seen the current setup as a problem has been when we're wanting to pass such URLs to moderators. Perhaps both?
That may be possible, but if it exists, it'd probably be considered a security hole, from SE's POV. Random websites being able to determine that someone is a moderator on SE doesn't really sound like a good thing.
