Deployed? Things seem fixed.

thanks!

Yep

So, if anyone wants to try out graphql, I can answer questions/help with queries/change stuff. The routes are /api/graphql and /api/graphiql, both with nice little interfaces.

@SmokeDetector Solicitations for participation in off-site surveys are considered spam. See: Are research survey questions expected to be handled with close votes?

@Makyen My bad -- I read that too quickly

Yeah, this is awesome. Nicely done.

I thought the link was to the DSL in question or something, rather than the survey

Already half the information our userscripts need, and it's fast

@NobodyNada np. We all do that from time to time.

@thesecretmaster Two things I can see we're going to need (I know you're still working on it, just making sure they've crossed your mind): autoflagging information (a flag_logs field on PostType), and the ability to fetch multiple objects at once (i.e. I want to get posts 120283 and 120282)
oh, and the ability to get posts by URL or UID

ah, can't pass link as a filter
Such nice syntax

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] URL-only title, blacklisted website in body, blacklisted website in title, link at end of body: mumybear.com/keto/ by kato on askubuntu.com

I'm working on some more stuff. Pagination is next, but they've got an oven (active) issue about that.

12:08 AM
tpu- by NobodyNada

@thesecretmaster do they have a stove issue as well?

I have a plan to get a good bit more done tonight.

@thesecretmaster If it's a pizza oven, then we're good.

@ArtOfCode Yeah, about to request that they pull the gas out and stick it back in.
I hope it's a gas stove, not electric...

Gotta figure out how to architect a decent deploy solution

12:12 AM
@Undo how do you do it at the moment?

Locally, from laptop

@Undo aye, but what's the process?

Needs to hide secrets and be easily access-controllable
@ArtOfCode cap production deploy
That's it.

okay, and what does that need to work

@ArtOfCode { post1: post(id: 120283) { id title body } post2: post(id: 120292) { id title body } }

12:14 AM
@ArtOfCode The repo, the bundle installed, and credentials to hit the server
Hey, SmokeDetector hit 200 stars

@thesecretmaster possible to have a posts(ids: [1, 2, 3])?

Yep
Gimme some time

@Undo and finally, if I had a set of credentials would they let me do anything I shouldn't

ehhhhh, probably

likewise for posts(urls: []) and maybe posts(uids: [['stackoverflow', 12345678'], ['mathoverflow.net', 1234]])

12:16 AM
Actually, less that and more "If it's a CI job, everything's nice and auditable and I can't accuse you of doing nasty stuff"

Being accused of things isn't something I'm too worried about ;)

Generally good to have stuff out in the open.

J F
GraphiQL is still not working for me.

Idea is that there should be no way to get API tokens out of there without changing code in Git and running the deploy job. That's a pretty good defense against any meta unrest, too

@JF "not working"?
@Undo agree
I assume it's possible to create a CI job that specified people have access to

12:20 AM
Yep. Right now it's a non-team repo under me, so I can just add collaborators.

that works

Looking at travis-ci.org/Undo1/metasmoke-deploy, which does nothing but it has a name

@ArtOfCode Rails stack trace gets retuned from the API route

permissions?

what trace?

12:23 AM
@ArtOfCode UID = SE ID or MS ID?
@Undo It's public

@thesecretmaster Combination of SE API site parameter and SE post ID (native_id on the Post model)

J F

(it’s quite long, @ArtOfCode ^)

Reload the page?
That means you POSTed to the wrong route, it was a bug before the most recent deploy

uh

Maybe a hard reload?

12:25 AM
no it doesn't

J F
@thesecretmaster comes from running that query

you're trying to get post 120283
which doesn't exist

J F
another query works fine.

that's what the ActiveRecord::RecordNotFound is
and "Couldn't find Post with 'id'=120283"

J F
ah, makes sense.

12:26 AM
^^ That. I should stick some handling around that

J F
GitHub’s API returns { data: { [theKey]: null }, errors: [{ message, type, path: [theKey], locations }] }

@Undo you still there?

attempting to run rake without having rake defined... probably not gonna work ;)

@quartata aye, for about thirty seconds
@ArtOfCode Travis apparently defaults to Ruby

actually, I probably don't need you
unless things break

12:34 AM
Gonna try to see if I can build the job up manually, since it needs to clone another repo and do everything from there

Restart: API quota is 14099.

wtf
it didn't even get the code admins approved badge
PA isn't showing up as a status check
that can't be normal behavior
@ArtOfCode is there anything in the MS log? is this on our end?
I think this is legitimately a PA problem actually
because the PR doesn't even show up here pullapprove.com/Charcoal-SE/SmokeDetector/?state=all

We don't initiate PA, PA should pick up on new PRs by itself
since it didn't... yeah not us

it would be from github_controller.rb of course

Merged SmokeDetector #2156.

oh wait here we go
uhhhh
what?
I already deleted that one
ok
whatever

Merged SmokeDetector #2157.

12:42 AM
there we go
I have no idea what happened with the first one
That was really weird
Definitely a PA thing tho

CI on 93901da succeeded. Message contains 'autopull', pulling...

@ArtOfCode all right I'm done, you can give code admin back

no tracebacks

yeah it wasn't us, it's working fine

@Undo you're right, System does have Smokey's API token
so we're already good to go with that
Basically just try it first for flags, then do the rest of the flag logic normally
@Undo when you get back can you destroy 1388 from the console
@ArtOfCode check keybase?
sd 2poof

Bleh, graphql gets annoying fast
Well, graphql-ruby and graphql generally.

@quartata user?

yeah

... yeah, gone

12:57 AM
cool

1:09 AM
Bleh graphql seems to hate nested array args.
@ArtOfCode Seems like this'd have to be done with this syntax:
1 hour ago, by thesecretmaster
@ArtOfCode { post1: post(id: 120283) { id title body } post2: post(id: 120292) { id title body } }

no way to specify multiple arguments at once?
that syntax wouldn't be terrible, but it's not very DRY

I can't find one
I can do uids: [] site: [] or uids: ['site:id', 'site:id']

oh, is this just for uids?
so urls and ids as an array works?

yeah
Arrays are fine

okay, that's fine then

1:20 AM
nested arrays are not

probably the latter of your two suggestions

@ArtOfCode now that I'm redoing this part, can we revisit why we don't bother to wait for Metasmoke to create a post?
FWIW from personal experience metasmoke often creates the post before it makes it here, just because of chat ratelimiting and all the rooms we have to post to

originally, metasmoke dependency
experience is the same

that can be solved with an aggressive timeout
And in exchange it would cure all the ugly URL crap we do
I'll push a MS PR to make posts.json return the ID in plaintext for now, just in case we make that change
incidentally why is this an instance variable:

Don't know how long MS post create requests take, however

1:25 AM
@ArtOfCode we could do it via ActionCable, since that's guaranteed a worker

ew

..hm?
what's wrong with using ActionCable? I think it would be a good idea
we could replace sending feedback too

(a) receiving AC on the Rails end is a mess
(b) more importantly, ew

oh is it
figures

that sort of thing just should be an HTTP request

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Offensive answer detected: What was Steve Rogers's phone number? by user100355 on scifi.SE (@Mithrandir)

status pings as an HTTP request are still weird imo but eh

that's more weird, yes
but it technically is updating a resource, so eh

I just might start a fork of graphql so my life can make more sense.

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Link at end of answer: Gett JSON from python API by Kelvin on stackoverflow.com

should we have a separate report for when a post is re-reported without any revisions?
If so, the easiest fix of all would be just to add revision ID to the UID

and ditch URLs everywhere else
