@thesecretmaster Tempted to look at running askubuntu.com/a/628392/200337 at Rails app start rather than upgrading a full version
Actually, you can increase the score for your processes w/o root ("yeah, this can be oom-killed"). Decreasing (below 0) needs root. — PiskvorJan 27 '17 at 11:13
We'll have to see, but it probably would have been a good idea to bring all SD instances out of standby prior to bringing MS down for a while. The last couple of times MS has been down for several minutes, none of the standby SD instances have recovered without being manually rebooted by their owners.
@Undo If you've got time, can you clarify which bits of MS are must-live-on-undo's-hardware? Just seeing what I can redis-ify while still having access to the redis instance for debugging :)
MS was taken down for a time. @iBug, You'll need to reboot your instance. @ThomasWard, You'll need to reboot Solar.
We really need to fix whatever it is that's keeping the standby instances from recovering from MS being down. It could be that they decide MS is down, but never check to see if it comes back up.
@Undo So you're aware, it also give me the power to do things like create/edit posts and modify feedbacks in a few places in the UI. Not that I would, and it wouldn't propagate to the DB, but could be medium-bad.

Well, if I messed with historical data, it could cause some problems, since search uses it. Could get maybe get wrong things blacklisted, which could maybe possibly lead to autoflagging.
@thesecretmaster Second thing would have commits/PRs referencing MS search results that wouldn't line up later. Might get away with it a few times, but not easy.
anyway, not too concerned that you'll go nuts on something like that
