@Makyen This looks possible to me: If all URLs starting from one are invalid, take them as custom reasons.
So "URL text1 text2" will be considered "report URL with reason text1 text2, while "URL text1 URL" will throw an error for the text (taken as URL2)

@iBug IMO, definitely possible. IIRC, I and others have suggested before. I think the issue was that it was desired that things which were intended as URLs didn't become comments, even the URL was malformed. I'd have to check the chat transcript to see what arguments were really used against it.

I don't have report authorization so I'm dropping that one here: scifi.stackexchange.com/a/196184/98028 (abusive, I reckon)

AlnI write with one intention, with kindness. Allegory Gratitude sandwich (OK for any diet) You are in your body, alive. (first "slice" of gratitude.) Go about your day. Be. Do. At bedtime, hold that day with your second slice of gratitude. Put "sandwich" under your pillow. Sleep. Wake. Good...

@Zoe Across the network, though only your accounts with 200+ rep count.
I don't yet have 10k+ rep on a site but can review chat flags here.
This is another message to force the rep indicator to show.
...and another...
@Glorfindel Reviewing as "Looks OK" seems like a viable option for sites with review audits disabled. As long as no one else flagged as "not an answer" or "very low quality", a single Looks OK review will cause the review to be completed.

[spam] on meta-sites across the network

In this case, it posted a duplicate onebox right after mine.

Zoe
So? AFAIK it's the same system as Feeds, which means it doesn't actually check if it's been posted or not. It just looks up RSS feeds.

6:32 AM
Shall we categorize spam posts on MS by language?

@gparyani 'Looks OK' causes an internal conflict. I just don't want to hit that button if the post is not OK. And (maybe not on Meta, but on other sites) you might encounter a moderator reviewing the reviews and handing out a manual review ban. (Granted, not likely, and it's probably easy to appeal to that decision.)

that is, anything that is non-English, and is also not an accepted language on the site (e.g. Spanish on esSO).

@Glorfindel Just provide a link back to my post if a mod asks why you're reviewing those as "Looks OK".
I've strategically cast the final close vote on questions that had four close votes but I didn't believe should be closed, so as to expedite the overall process of closing and reopening.
In my opinion, strategic moves based on system quirks are fine.

Yeah, I agree, but I'd rather avoid the hassle.

Yeah, plus there's the risk that someone's cast a NAA or VLQ flag on very subtle spam.
...and each such flag increases the required amount of Looks OK reviews to dismiss the task by one.

6:38 AM
@iBug I don't see any purpose for it yet, but maybe it'll come, just like the domain tags. Those still don't have much purpose, but at least they allow for nice graphs :)

@Glorfindel yep. that's what I think. I'd like to advocate that anyone tags it as such when they happen to see a spam in a wrong language
@gparyani probably mod deletion
I think less than 2 secs?

@iBug I'd rather automate it. There's probably an API somewhere which tells you in which language a certain body of text is.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've deleted spam in less than 2 seconds after reporting.

@Glorfindel Google Translate "Detect language"

Google's Translate APIs are paid services, unfortunately.
At least the last time I checked.

@Glorfindel sounds like a better idea

@gparyani I did a graph a while ago but some just come up as zero
@gparyani language detection is not entirely cut and dried, the accuracy is somewhere below 95% for real-world text

one of the purposes of the tags is to allow you to easily scrape together a set of related spam messages for the purpose of performing an experiment
this is not limited to machine learning of course, but ML was one of the reasons I wanted it
I'm thinking #paper-writing, #spellcaster and #hacking would probably benefit from having specialized detections, perhaps based on some sort of machine learning
I'm not sure NN is the way to go, you could probably get pretty far just with very simple bayesian classification on keywords or something like that
though of course if you are doing it for making your CV sexy, deep learning is still the vogue I guess

@gparyani problem is, we need developers

this would be a nice Hacktober project for somebody, you don't really need to understand the rest of Smoke Detector as long as you can accept a post and return a verdict

yeah, but at least I am zero experienced in ML

@iBug thing is, somebody who is but doesn't understand Smoke Detector might be looking for a project as we speak
avoiding false positives (and to a smaller extent detection speed) are probably more challenging than you would naively think though; the training set should probably contain a fair number of regular posts which are not in Metasmoke
but starting with our full collection of FPs as negative examples is probably a good start
even though it's manually curated, there are probably still a small fraction which would be reclassified as TP today
