!DeepSmokey I was wondering where I should specify the versionCode/versionName in an Android library. Before I created the module, the app version data was stored in the manifest. Now I have two manifests, one for the main application (third-party) and one for the the library.

@angussidney @Undo @Glorfindel @ArtOfCode @quartata Can I please mention your full names in a presentation that I've got in a few days? I'm Tanmay Bakshi, and here's a link to the conference: www-07.ibm.com/nz/watsonsummit
Also, here's link to my YouTube channel, where I love to teach about Deep Learning: youtube.com/channel/…

Is your talk going to be posted on youtube?

It'll be posted on IBM's Ustream site, yes

Nice :)

In fact I did a similar talk in Sydney a few days ago
Here's a link

Post the code anywhere yet?

2:17 AM
Not just yet. It's not "github-ready" just yet.

I'd really, really like to get my hands on that.
@TajyMany I'd probably decline - linking to stackoverflow.com/users/1849664/undo?tab=profile would be plenty for me

Sure, no problem. I'll refer to you as "Undo", is that alright?

I make an attempt to separate real life from here. Not a terribly good one, but still.
@TajyMany That'd work :)

Thanks! :)

Also, curious - have you tried throwing out the last couple months of data and training while excluding it? It'd be interesting to make sure it's not being overfit

2:22 AM
That's an interesting idea

Different types of spam comes in waves, temporally, so separating test data and train data by time may be valuable.

But there's no "exact duplicate" of spam in the data, I've used algorithms to make sure of that
But I'll try that out
Training in separate "time-batches"

Yeah, that'd be it
Curious what happens when we get our next batch of spammers selling something new; training on older data and evaluating on newer data would answer that one

Ah yes you're right
That'd be a really interesting experiment!
I can't wait for the next batch :P

Could be months in the future, which makes it inconvenient. Training on data excluding the last few months could tell you
Hope you'll stick around - there are many, many more problems around here that you could look at. Problems with far more data available than we have on spam.

2:28 AM
cough Find duplicates faster cough

If you can tell me at 99% accuracy what's an answer and what is, that could be even more valuable
Or duplicates. Or closures. Or reviews.

I'm definitely going to stick around!
With more data, that becomes much, much easier.

Reviews would be a great one. Lots of data with relatively simple signal in there - wouldn't even need to look at actual content, there's plenty of data hidden in review metadata.

I agree
Duplicates is something I'm also very interested in.

If you could solve the duplicate problem, you'd be a hero. Or really any of these big open problems we've got.
actually, you'd be a hero if you can give us something that reliably classifies spam at 99%. Better than most humans.

2:30 AM
@TajyMany Me too.

Well, I'd believe more testing is required, but I'll say it has reached very high accuracy thus far.

2:59 AM
@Andy Are you aware of any "duplicate questions dataset"?
In theory it should be a simple Siamese NN
Questions A & B go into identically weighed LSTMs, are encoded, and both outputs go into a dense net
I know Quora has a dataset for this, but not SO.
Also, can I mention your name in my presentation?

You can also run it locally on the SO datadump: archive.org/details/stackexchange
Query should be fairly similar

Thanks!

Rob
No worries
That's also is limited to 50,000 rows at a time, so you'll need to page it to grab them all, if you go through SEDE

Sure.

I'm not sure how they're going to get much business if they don't tell people where to go for the drugs.

Is there a script to convert the XML to MySQL?
haha

Rob
3:20 AM
@TajyMany Haven't tried it, but this might work: stackapps.com/questions/2511/…
Granted it's 7 years old, so, who knows

Hmm that's for MSSQL
And there already exists a data dump in MSSQL
I was looking for MySQL

Rob
And MySQL

Ah i didn't see that
Links are all dead
Plus it's for Windows, I use Linux/Mac

Rob
Did find the source here: bitbucket.org/bitpusher/soddi - but doesn't fix the linux issue

Let me try Sequel Pro
might import xml

@tripleee :D One of the perks of being a mod. Thanks for the tip.
I've come in before... usually I just ping Art or Undo but it's a weird time of the day.

@Catija yeah, or it just got lost in the ML data dump discussion (Rob or Andy would certainly have been able to pick it up)
@TajyMany if you can specify a transformation it's something which should not be hard to do with standard tools (xslt)

I know Andy, too :D We have talks about how he's probably actually my husband (who's also named "Andy").

4:02 AM
@Catija weird, I never get that, "my husband's name is Triple Eee too"

@tripleee Do you have wide feet?

@Catija definitely no

I mean I could script it in Python
Just not feeling like writing that code right now

@tripleee But... that's what triple e means. :P

::39315352 never heard that, googling for it still only gets me the Triple E cargo ship

4:04 AM
haha you probably replied to the wrong message :P

@TajyMany sorry, yeah (-:

@Catija oh with "shoes" instead of "feet" I get it

A shoe size is an indication of the fitting size of a shoe for a person. There are a number of different shoe-size systems used worldwide. While all of them use a number to indicate the length of the shoe, they differ in exactly what they measure, what unit of measurement they use, and where the size 0 (or 1) is positioned. Some systems also indicate the shoe width, sometimes also as a number, but in many cases by one or more letters. Some regions use different shoe-size systems for different types of shoes (e.g. men's, women's, children's, sport, and safety shoes). This article sets out several...
:D Crossword clue worthless knowledge.

@TajyMany it would probably be worth publishing on GitHub, if the requirements are not too daunting I could give it a whack if you can give me a specification but maybe we need to take it to a separate room ... or maybe post a question on SO!
maybe not actually SO because it's basically a library request ... MSO? MSE?
