also, handling different screen densities. Skype gets SUPER MEGA BIG if you don't attach your external monitors in just the right order (see: docking)

@Undo Skype itself is also one of the terrible bits

OS X just works, somehow, which is amazing when I actually think about it

@quartata ...why?

It was KDE 3 too
Because it looked cool obviously

it's okay on OS X, but on Windows it's... bad

12:01 AM
Also KOffice is awesome

@ArtOfCode Skype for Business is pretty awesome, really. It's all tied in to all our systems, I can go from hearing someone's name to talking to them on the phone in ten seconds.

Never had cause to use it
we use Skype at work but it's regular old consumer-grade Skype

Also, Outlook links everything together - online meetings come with buttons embedded in the reminder to join it immediately, anywhere a domain user is referenced (email address, meeting invite, etc) it's one click to text or call
Or see their physical address within a building. That's nice too
@ArtOfCode yeah, Linq is a whole lot better
(ex-Linq, now SFB)
Org charts are embedded in the same popover view wherever there's a domain user referenced, so it's easy to see who works for who and what my relation is to them. All kinds of goodies in there.

@Undo UGH Skype for Business is HORRIBLE.

@Andy Really? What are the issues you're having?

12:08 AM
@Undo how good is IT security with BigCo?

None. I don't work there any more. Now I use modern technology. Not some IBM/Microsoft devil spawn. Skype would take 10-15 minutes to login. Itd randomly disconnect calls. Screen sharing was spotty

@Andy oh, sounds like server issues. Pretty sure BigCo runs their own servers and they work great. Couple seconds to login and call quality is better than Hangouts.
@ArtOfCode I suppose good, I don't really test it.
(also, on the fringe of what I can probably talk about)

@Undo well I guess "not obviously terrible" is better than mine...
that's the one thing that gets me about my job

Well, BigCo I worked for sucked at fixing it. I imagine they had their own servers. They were very distrusting of 'the cloud'

security is terrible

12:22 AM
@ArtOfCode Got a minute?

@Undo I've never had any issues with docking stations on windows, I used to use them all them time for my laptop and the only issue I ever had was the audio passthrough not working, which was fixed by an audio driver reinstall
@ArtOfCode the answer to skype is Slack, and Discord also does a pretty good job for non-workplace things (it hasn't got video calling/screen sharing yet, but that's coming in about a month)

@Undo I can only concur. Skype for Business is not actually Skype at all, it's Microsofts appalling Office Communicator no Lync no what shall we call it, wait, I know, we bought up Skype, let's tarnish their brand instead for a change!
group chats are the feature which irks me the most, they just basically don't work
you can't leave IM for someone who is out for lunch, you have to wait for them to come back
this is basically what breaks group chat, too; as soon as somebody leaves or drops, good luck getting them back into the same chat
so you end up with group splits and individuals just talking to you in new windows
if you're an Outlook victim, some of the Outlook integration is nice, yes; but I resist it both on principle and for practical reasons
the one thing Outlook really needs to be able to do, i.e. email, it really sucks at

@Mith @JF (and anybody else wondering) - I checked out the profile of the guy who posted the userscript to change the review icon to text, and saw a question asking why he couldn't add his languages letter when Pekka could add the symbol he has. That led to me discovering Hangul (which is Korean) and browsing through all the characters, and I kinda liked the lil guy so added it on to the end of my username. Not sure if I'll keep it, gonna see how things go :)

lil guy, XD
why not this?

10:36 AM
that's used by Pekka (though I guess he changed it again, he does that regularly)

Average deletion time on askubuntu is often less than 15 seconds

10:40 AM
so this is below average?

@BeardWix from notification to the six spam flags required to have it removed

....wait, or is it above average?

@BeardWix No, but 17 seconds from the spammer posting it to being deleted

with autoflagging, three of those come from Metasmoke

whoah.

10:41 AM
@BeardWix It takes 6 flags to delete a post. 3 of those we cast automatically on posts we're sure are spam; the other 3 are cast by humans - but there are enough people here that they get cast really quickly.

this is more complex than I considered it to be.
I'd actually like to see a post suspected to be spam.
