Q: Dr. Madonna's spam fest

CarcigenicateOver the past hour, a "Dr. Madonna" has been spamming SO with a post that sounds half-serious, and half something you'd find on Puzzling. Long story short, she met someone online, but they gave her an encrypted string containing their name and demographics. She wants SO to decrypt it for her. T...

I can't read that.

FIRE has just been updated to 0.4.0! Today's changes: Settings GUI, Report data caching, UI tweaks, Emoji fallback for systems that don't support them, and some more stuff I don't remember.

I vote to disable the blacklist for that name

@Undo It looks to me like there are drops in Aurora's scan rate just like you predicted; it drops to zero just before this failure, and at 19:00 on Sunday, it drops to zero until this restart.

12:58 AM
@ArtOfCode Any idea what happened here? Those logs are in the correct order, oldest at the bottom. quartata isn't a core user, but we tried to use his flag first? Then it failed, and somehow we only ended up with one flag. I'm not seeing how that could happen.
[0] #<FlagLog:0x00000004745078> {
                   :id => 7248,
              :success => false,
        :error_message => "Flag options not present",
    :flag_condition_id => nil,

Actually, they're more than a minute apart. Which is also weird.
@NobodyNada That might be the culprit then.

@Undo got logs for that point?

Probably

also, why does the second of those not have a flag_condition associated with it?

Oh look, more fun: We actually sent out a not_flagged event for it

does a quick reality-check
is SSH'd into a server in London, which is in turn SSH'd into a server in Virginia doing a reverse port-forward for the London server so that I can bypass a university firewall and get at the London server from here in Portsmouth
this is why we don't play with SSH and other demons at 2 in the morning
it'd be okay if it worked

I'm out for today; see you tomorrow!

so now hitting artofcode.co.uk:80 goes through nginx on that server. hitting :8800 gets pinged back to London, back to America, and back to Portsmouth
or it should, at least

@ArtOfCode ever played Uplink?

@JanDvorak nope

2:04 AM
well, he's right...

meanwhile I sit here with 72 Mbps

10 here and nothing to complain about

to be fair, it is 2AM and thus a zero-demand period

wait, no, 20

2:06 AM
That's not 72...

I guessed before the test had actually finished :P

2:32 AM
Aha! I have defeated the dastardly firewall!
For some reason, the university decided they were going to allow SSH access (password-based :( ) from anywhere, but access to port 80 has been restricted to the university's network only. So instead of just hitting the VM's IP, I now have to hit my EC2 server in the US, which has a reverse port-forward from the VM's web server. It fetches content, and sends it back to me.
By the time it gets to me, the content has travelled about 24,000km.

@Mithrandir that post had one feedback from each place (chat, FDSC, FIRE)

@angussidney ...Odd.

@angussidney So does the latest report say me 3 times?

@Mithrandir nope, neither before or after reload

Hmm. I flagged it, FIREd it, and 'k'd it.

@Mithrandir MS ignores the second feedback from the same person

@SmokeDetector Why does that report tell me I autoflagged it? It was a manual flag...
and further messages. TL;DR: flags via FIRE are stored in the same database table as autoflags.

@Mithrandir the deletion watcher isn't working properly, either.

So it looks like we're failing to bind to the deletion websocket for some reason - probably a change on SE's side, or something just being broken. Pretty sure it isn't our fault, there haven't been any touches to that code in a long time. Need to dig in to it, but it's late here and I'm tired. Y'all might seem more spam than usual tonight, but it should be fixed tomorrow in some capacity.
