Yes, CamelCase usernames.

Ooooh, magic is a goldmine.
If we're already catching the posts, I'm not sure you really need to add additional keywords -- as long as we catch it in one filter or another...
21:07
The theory is that adding the keywords means we catch the extra subset of stuff we missed, where one or two posts of it are caught by other filters but not all of them.
@ArtOfCode You're welcome
The data I'm using is stuff from metasmoke combined with a CSV of spam the SE team sent me a while back.

@Undo when you've got a moment, might wanna take another look at the issue gunr raised with us last week sometime - the numbers are going up
sigh
okay
Thanks for taking care of that @ArtOfCode.
21:39
@Tunaki np
So I see a few solutions here: (1) Just start ignoring some people's feedback in metasmoke; but letting them keep Smokey privileges (blacklisting, etc.)
(2) Rip privs away completely, which is the easiest and requires no dev time... but it might involve more drama
This is assuming that a "hey you're doing it wrong" doesn't work
Maybe we need to answer this question: What is feedback most used for; and where does bad feedback hurt us most?
@Undo I think that's what we need to do first. Maybe open a private chat on SO, if you think it's moderation related enough? Gentle reminders that you're doing it wrong to the extent that your privileges have come into question should be the first step.
Also, another thing we need to answer: What's the threshold for 'abuse'?
10/100 bad feedback might be within tolerances, but 100/1000 is far worse
@Undo Feedback lets us see the accuracy of what we're doing, which I think is important because it lets us fine-tune things without having to judge every post, every time.
@ArtOfCode So it's used most for the bar graphs on metasmoke's /dashboard
Which I would agree with
21:42
Bad feedback corrupts the accuracy of that data. Since we started doing feedback invalidations, there have been changes in the reason % accuracies of around 1%.
@Undo Yeah. Which seem pretty superficial, but they're actually good for judging whether a reason is any good or needs modifying.
Yep
So here's a possible thought:
@Undo This particular case certainly isn't. More misguided than abusive.
@ArtOfCode yeah, bad langauge. Misguided != abusive
So 'bad feedback generating'
What if we completely automated this?
Use some statistics, and calculate a p-value for "is this user giving bad feedback more than x% of the time?"
That said, feedback isn't so detrimental to the project that we should immediately rip away all privileges - people are the most valuable thing to this project, and if we start removing them at arbitrary thresholds we're going to lose more people than we want. It might be a better idea to ignore feedback.
If p<0.05, automatically start ignoring their feedback for showing things in /review
@ArtOfCode Well put, yeah
21:46
We've already got the "% invalid" thing on the admin page, though that's not very statistical. If we based it on that, I'd say anywhere around 8-10% is a soft threshold.
Then we can have a "hey, your feedback is being automatically ignored based on objective criteria that don't discriminate based on anything" discussion instead of a "hey, we think your feedback is crap" discussion
@ArtOfCode Right
Originally I was going to say target 1%, but then I saw accuracy rates for the experienced people here.
100/1000 invalidated is far more signal than 10/100
Please keep in mind: this is just a meta platform. If the user is flagging incorrectly, that's a problem. If the user is just messing up a few stats... that's unfortunate, but it's no big problem.
@hichris123 That's basically my reasoning behind not ripping privileges, yeah.
21:48
@hichris123 And flagging incorrectly isn't a charcoal problem.
It could become a charcoal problem, but that hasn't happened yet
@ArtOfCode Really, I'd say 5% is acceptable.
so (invalid^2 / total) would give us a value that scales with the number of invalid points
We might try targeting 5%, which should give some wiggle room for the 6/100 people out there
@ArtOfCode There's a statisticy thing that does this, but IIRC that's pretty much it
@Undo Yeah. My rate is 0.78% on chat (2/255), and 0.13% (4/3009) on review, which is pretty good, but I know it's been higher than that, going on 2%. And given that I deliberately only feedback on things I'm pretty sure of, 5% is a reasonable number if you're trying to review most or all things.
So where would we put the threshold?
My rates using (invalid^2/total) are 0.016 and 0.005.
The current high is 0.610.
I need to do some data-digging, but I suspect that p<0.05 of having an invalidated % greater than 5% over infinite posts would work
@Undo that sentence... did not make sense.

brain dump :P
If you flip it to (total/invalid^2) you get higher values for better feedback, which could be better.
In that case I would be 63.8 and 188, and the current high (low) would be 1.64.
Perhaps 1.5 is a good threshold there?
