[ SmokeDetector ] Few unique characters in body: why do I get error of undefined qty in php? by umrktk on stackoverflow.com

12:19 AM
Restart: API quota is 9040.

Not sure what to do with this weirdness at PM: pm.stackexchange.com/questions ... I know these are spam seeds, but will the mods know?

Eh, it's PM... do you really care if you get a temporary flag ban? :P

Or maybe they aren't? The second one is 55 minutes old, and still no answer.

Maybe SpamRam blocked them.

@SmokeDetector del rolled back
But if I flag to close and VLQ, I get two helpful flags.

@Marshmallow How do I run this script as a webapp? gist.github.com/hichris1234/c994f46e9ab757747730670273b0b89b It's supposed to run the doGet method.

@hichris123 You create a script, then choose Publish -> deploy as Web App, then pick authorization options based on how it's going to be used.

@Marshmallow Then I get:
error on line 1 at column 1: Document is empty

1:16 AM
@hichris123 I got it to work, but it doesn't show any tweets yet.
Line 44 conditional was incorrect: should be var widgetID = e.queryString ? e.queryString : "459749011608465408";
Or, if you are using it for just one feedm hardcode var widgetID = "459749011608465408";
Another bug was in ‎ entities throwing an error. That one is fixed by adding rss = rss.replace(/‎/g, ''); before returning rss in the main function.
The output is empty because the regular expressions that he uses to parse XML (?) do not match anything.
Of course it can't be parsed with XmlService because of <img> tags and whatnot.
It's the regex /<a class=".*?permalink.*?" href="(.*?)" data-datetime="(.*?)"[^>]*>(.*?)<\/a>(.*?)<p[^>]*>(.*?)<\/p>/gm; that needs updating... sigh
@hichris123 Actually... are you sure you are using a correct type of twitter widget for this?
I'm confused because the script looks like it's recently updated, yet the XML it tries to parse is not what it expects.

Where can I post a question about ISO certifiactes? I am wondering whether a ISO certificate retains its number after expiry date, when that company wants to get a new (or let's say re-new that ) ISO certificate

@Marshmallow I have no clue... this was some StackStatus watching script that I got from badp. Stopped working recently. :P

@hichris123 No wonder. Twitter changed the XML structure there.

@VincentVerheyen I'm not sure. You might want to ask on Meta Stack Exchange.
@Marshmallow :/

I'm repairing it now. Is the timestamp really needed? Probably not.

I... have no clue?
Oh, wouldn't that be needed for Feeds?
(so it knows when there's additional tweets?)

2:04 AM
Well, my problem is that I don't see a timestamp in the XML at all.

... did Twitter really change that much?

@hichris123 They can tweak backend all they want... now I got tweets to parse, except for retweets.

@hichris123 I couldn't find a chatroom for Meta, so I asked it in law - intellectual property @ law.stackexchange.com/questions/8648/…

@VincentVerheyen The nominal main chat for Meta Stack Exchange is Tavern on the Meta.

2:57 AM
@Marshmallow I don't feel like copying that into a script of my own (too much work :P), can I just use that link?

@hichris123 Sure.
Let me know if it doesn't work.

@JeffreyBosboom There's also some "public" methods though for getting recent reports

Well, if there's ever a public API for feedback, someone (though probably not me) could write a script that hooks the flag dialog to automatically provide feedback.

@JeffreyBosboom Hrm, not a bad idea

@JeffreyBosboom You can do that right now, sort of, by having the flag dialog trigger an appropriate reply here.

@JeffreyBosboom I think we have an API for feedback, it just requires authentication with a metasmoke account.

@Undo What is the correct procedure if you see a spam question that hasn't been detected by Smokey? Do I do !//report (question-url) ? Can I also, and is it preferred, to somehow report the spam link itself?
Actually I see now it was reported a few lines further up. Oh well, in case it wasn't?
And I see I got the syntax wrong: !!/report ...

5:34 AM
@NickGammon Report the post. You can ping Marshmallow (or any developer, I suppose) if you want a new spam URL added to the blacklist or pattern-matching regex.
You need to be privileged to report posts.

[ SmokeDetector ] Mostly non-Latin answer: MFI Accessory communicate with App via USB by Hao Meng on stackoverflow.com

@JeffreyBosboom OK, so you mean the !!/report URL syntax? That adds the contents of the post to some sort of algorithm?

The report command just makes the bot process the post as though it had matched some other reason (the report reason is "Manually reported question/answer"). It doesn't do anything beyond that.
If you see a spam URL that isn't picked up by the "blacklisted website" or "pattern-matching website" reasons, you can ask a developer to add it, and then the next time the bot sees a post containing that URL it will be automatically reported in here.

@JeffreyBosboom mods are privileged, btw

@Marshmallow Didn't know that was automatic, but makes sense.

5:40 AM
I review the log daily, looking for things that were not matched, so simple !!/report will ensure it gets attention.

OK, in this particular case (arduino.stackexchange.com/questions/23300) the post was flagged as spam by users. I (as a mod) destroyed the account. I am wondering if reporting it to Smokey achieves anything (that hasn't already been done by those actions)?

Meaning we'll get better at detecting similar spam in the future.

@NickGammon Reporting the post before you delete it gives us a record of it in metasmoke, which is nice because we can't see deleted posts on Arduino, for example

OK, I need to improve my workflow. ;)
