12:45 AM
@Undo SR has been around for one year!

hello @hichris

Hi!

Howdy!
Anything new?

Homework.

That's not new...

12:48 AM
:P
Er... were you here when I broke Chrome Canary? :P

@hichris123 possibly...
how long ago?

Jan 23 at 2:26, by hichris123
@TimStone I broke Chrome's dictionary download in Canary, so yeah, you can feel better about that. :P
Jan 23 at 2:27, by hichris123
(to my defense, it was committed without me knowing there was a problem. That's the annoyance of having to communicate with Googler's on uploading binary files)
Jan 23 at 2:28, by hichris123
@TimStone Well, it didn't break break stuff. I think everything should have been fine unless it was a new download... maybe...

@hichris123 we need to write curriculum that allows students to integrate whatever hobby they have with homework.
Sure, you can write a program that scans Google for alliteration!
:D

lol

Google's 404 page has a typo in it
An engineer let up on the shift key too soon when typing the <title> element
> Error 404 (Not Found)!!1

12:52 AM
lol
Go report that as a bug.
I know Meta Stack Exchange wants your question! :P

Uh, why MSE?
It's a Google bug

@AnnonomusPenguin That was a joke. ;)
We could totally close your question for you on MSE though.

@AnnonomusPenguin Pretty sure that's not a typo

@hichris123 Probes chat message with humor detector
BEEP BEEP
There it goes!
@Doorknob what?

It's a joke!!!1!!11!!!!one!!

Ahh
Again, I don't do humor

Humor? What is this word you speak of?
;P

@hichris123 maybe @SmokeDetector can help us?
FYI @Undo Firestorm is down

Glares
Quick observation I made: does anyone notice how answers on SO are only really upvoted if they're posted within like 5-10 minutes of the question?

user61230
I have noticed and am frustrated by this problem.

@AnnonomusPenguin Of course. FGITW.

@Doorknob no, not just when there are multiple answers

user61230
FGITW is a two-sided sword. The flip side is that nobody cares about a question nobody shot at.

2:44 AM
Hmm... still annoying

user61230
I'm mixing my analogies. Shh. But once a question moves off the top few, it's not really seen anymore.

Oh, I'm taking an electronics class @AnnonomusPenguin, and we're apparently going to use Arduinos. :D

@hichris123 Cool!
Feel free to answer ask on, Arduino Stack Exchange! :D

@Emrakul I don't know if that is a SE problem or a user problem
Probably some of both

user61230
2:46 AM
It's probably a consequence of the fact that most answers on Stack Overflow aren't interesting enough for people to want to casually read them.

user61230
I see questions on the front page of C# that are answered, and I care about 0 of the answers. Why would I open an answered question to read it?

Oh also @AnnonomusPenguin my mom got me some Arduino books for Christmas. But not an actual Arduino. Not sure she knows how this whole thing works -_-

@Doorknob lol

So maybe I will possess an actual Arduino some time in the near future. :P

Clones and parts come cheap enough online
eBay sells parts cheap... I buy some stuff from there. It's like gambling but with electronics!
@Emrakul do you know C#?
If not, then that's a SE problem: they aren't showing relevant questions

2:49 AM
@Doorknob Get a Yun. :D
(those have WiFi on them)

@hichris123 Meh... too pricey

user61230
I've decided to learn it. It's a useful language to know, and I'm thinking it might become a primary language for me.

user61230
But even in languages I know.

@AnnonomusPenguin But it has WiFi!

@hichris123 Why would I want WiFi?
Oh yeah, on a related note, since Microsoft is open-sourcing parts of .NET, does this eventually mean that C# applications will be cross-platform?

2:50 AM
And dual CPUs (Linux side + Arduino side? Something like that?

user61230
@Doorknob Use the wiffy, you get better broadband DSL baud rates using it.

@hichris123 grab a TP-Link TL-WR703N

@Doorknob Then you can use your Arduino to do internety things.

@hichris123 you should do something with Glass and it

2:51 AM
@hichris123 I know, it's a common router to hack

@AnnonomusPenguin oh btw:
Jan 15 at 20:51, by hichris123
btw @Undo: https://plus.google.com/+GoogleGlass/posts/9uiwXY42tvc
Yes, why don't you read the same article again. :P

I saw that.

@Emrakul Oooh, dissle baud rates are important.

@Undo did tell you not to buy it yet :P

@AnnonomusPenguin I already had it when I joined SE.

2:53 AM
Are you sad or did you always know it might happen?

user61230
@Doorknob They're particularly useful when you're running Besselian analysis on perfectly-forwardly-secret elliptic curves, as Arduino hackers are wont to do.

Or more importantly, are your parents sad that they paid for it? :D
I guess you can still use it

@AnnonomusPenguin I thought it might eventually happen, but I'm hoping this is a sign of what's to come.
@AnnonomusPenguin Not really. As you said, it can still be used.
I really want them to open-source the code though.
@Emrakul ... why are you doing that?

@hichris123 Google Plastic?
Well, they do have Polymer, but I don't like it much

lol no

2:55 AM
@hichris123 never going to happen
But it would be cool

@AnnonomusPenguin Yeah, that thing was just a bit weird...

@hichris123 it isn't anymore?

user61230
@hichris123 I need to fork the nitrous oxide repository into my CPUter.

@AnnonomusPenguin It might... we got one of the community advocates to ask the dev team apparently.
@Emrakul ... okay then. :P

@hichris123 Asking and getting are two different things

2:56 AM
@AnnonomusPenguin Nah, it always was.
And always will be.
True. :/

It's just not intuitive. The shadow DOM is cool but otherwise it seems too template-esque
And opinionated

... opinionated?

@hichris123 you have to use Material Design

It's Google's way or Google's way
Most likely Google's way

3:09 AM
@Emrakul the sad part about this data is that this makes us realize that the only people who view questions are the ones who are looking for rep... :/
I guess I never look at the homepage except when I have time to answer, so somewhat guilty

user61230
3:26 AM
@AnnonomusPenguin Well, take a look at the front page of a tag that interests you. Read 15 questions. How many of them were actually interesting?

user61230
I think that is the real problem on Stack Overflow. Most of the questions a programmer asks while doing their job just aren't interesting. Most of the ones that are interesting are too broad for us to helpfully answer.

user61230
For instance, "Why did this build fail?" or "Why did that change break my test code?" are totally valid questions that many people just can't answer sometimes, so they go to Stack Overflow. But once they're answered, a great body of people just don't care anymore.

user61230
It's not that they're there for rep, it's just that the questions are genuinely uninteresting.

@Emrakul [Closed as primarily opinion based] :D

user61230
ehehe

user61230
3:31 AM
Opinion-based? Migrate to Programmers! [waits to be stabbed by Yannis]

@Emrakul I guess it's just frustrating that useful answers are never recognized; it's just a game of who can type the fastest

user61230
those are both glorious links

user61230
And the first is definitely a Programmers migration candidate.

For now, who wants to develop a Chrome extension that alerts you of new SO questions with particular tags?
:D
Software Recs?
